The only complaints I've heard about it is that several of the films are misframed. However, still an awesome set. I have seen it much cheaper than that on Amazon, if you're the patient type.

Re: Amazon UK Box Set Bargains
Some of you may not consider this a deal, but I figured I'd mention it anyways as there are surely some people who would be interested =)
It seems there is a Remastered DVD release of the complete series of The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau. This looks to be a UK only release so far, as I can't find any mention of it anywhere else besides international websites.
The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau £110.20 (Release May 23 2011)
From the Amazon page:
Available on DVD for the first time, and digitally enhanced from the original master tapes, comes the opportunity to own what The Boston Globe has called ‘the most spectacular and colourful series on the air.’ The legendary Jacques Cousteau, along with the loyal crew of his famous ship, Calypso, spent a decade travelling the world’s seas, documenting the many wonders that they encountered. A pioneer in many senses, Cousteau’s technical wizardry allowed for the filming of new species and behavior in the animal kingdom, all presented with a profound respect for the natural world.
• This groundbreaking series set the trend for nature documentaries, revealing the reality of making the programmes, alongside incredible footage of animals in the wild.
• Contains all 36 episodes of the classic series, which ran from 1967-1976, and which the New York Daily News called ‘what television can and should do best.

I wonder how this compares to "Jacques Cousteau Ultimate Collection" which actually has 21 discs vs. the collection you've listed above. Its also a lot cheaper! I'd like to get this set but I'd really prefer an NTSC version (or better yet - blu-ray).

I'd hope we'd be getting an NTSC set, but since we're so close to the release date, it may not happen anytime soon. (They probably also feel that there is more of a market for this sort of thing in Europe)
No he didn't? Most DVD players worldwide will play R2 (or any region) discs either naturally or with an unlock code that can easily be found online.
Also, all PC DVD players will play any region DVD's.

You can get a freeware solution here:

Many people use Any DVD, though it is not free:

Re standalone set top players: as of at least a year ago pretty much all Philips would go region free with simple handset hack, even the $30 models.

no, no i didn't. I know its region 2 i mean i've seen a website where it lists dvd's and blu's that are listed as different regions (ie: region 2) and they will still play on region 1 players for whatever reason. Guess i could just watch these on my laptop of unlock my dvd player, but i kinda anted to watch them on my ps3.

Re: Amazon UK Box Set Bargains
Even if a UK DVD was region free, it would probably be PAL format which means your PS3 will not play it. Their are rare exceptions of region free NTSC discs from the UK. One is the old Sanctuary "Meet John Doe" release.
Blu Ray is a different matter.

Re: Amazon UK Box Set Bargains
On that Hammer box set, I just dug mine out today and "remembered" that the individual disks are packed in hard plastic, like the inside of a cd jewel case and held together in volumes with a cardboard outer wrapper. I had said they were in window envelopes which is totally wrong. I must have been thinking of something else. Sorry about that.

I've been keeping my eye on this perennially on sale set for awhile:
Classic Sci-Fi Collection Currently at just under 9 pounds:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Sci-...4450304&sr=1-4
Also while technically not a box, amazon's showing Eureka's 2 Disc of Blue Angel in the box sale at just under 7 pounds. Eureka tends to have superior quality to Kino, even with the Pal to NTSC conversion:
