Cheato

Every damn time that one of the 20%-off or 30%-off codes gets posted, somebody claims this. It's simply not true. The prices fluctuate due to supply and demand.

I just bought 30 different items, of which 3 were cheaper than they were a couple weeks ago (Dragon's Lair 1 and 2, and Robocop: Prime Directives - Dark Justice), one was about $1 less (SNL: Best of David Spade), and a bunch of PS2 that had dropped by $2 each. On my "Personal Favorites" list of 125 other items that I haven't ordered yet that are currently available, every single one of them matches the same prices that existed a month ago, and the same prices before, during, and after the last time heynow was active except for 4 of them, which due to having new red prices are cheaper than they were before.

I keep a spreadsheet of prices, and just add a new column and date, and Excel tells me what has changed and if the item has crossed the threshold of the maximum price I've set for it that I'm willing to pay.

Exactly 2 items on my list of 125 that are currently available are higher than they have been in the last few months: 24 Season 3 and Rome Season 2 (Rome Season 1 is arguably higher, but it is currently on sale with an additional discounted price in red, so it's lower now than it was a couple weeks ago, but still higher than it was a few months ago). Additionally, 2 other items that used to have prices in red no longer do, so I guess they kind of went up, since the additional sales on them ended.

Claims of "jacked up prices" need to be backed up with hard data, not useless generalizations: what the price is now, how many are in-stock, when the price was different, what the price was, and how many were in-stock at that time.

I agree w/ Cheato. I check my personal fav's twice a week and out of the 30 or so titles no changes have been made in price for quite awhile. A few have gone on sale (marked in red), but none that I have been watching have increased.

This is a great price for non-BD adopters but for those of us who can experience Blu-ray I suggest getting that release instead. I know it's not what some would consider a "must" upgrade but for me it looked and sounded amazing and is one of my favorite titles in my collection.

I think the main concern is that when people say that "prices got jacked up" they are insinuating that the seller is intentionally raising the prices of their products across the board to offset the costs of the sale.

What Cheato was saying is that their prices rise and fall routinely due to various factors (stock on hand being one) and these fluctuations would occur whether or not they were running a generous 20% off with free international shipping sale.
