Re: SecondSpin 20% Bonus on Trade-Ins Through 1/29
If it helps, they seem to be on a kind of pattern with these sales. I started sending in in October of 2007 and here's the way it's gone:
10/27/2007
01/28/2008
04/27/2008
07/26/2008
01/23/2009
Though I had surmised they'd have one in October/November and they didn't, but that could just be due to sluggish sales or something. There was a pattern of every 3-4 months there they'd have one, but that's not entirely reliable either. So in a way there is kind of a pattern and there kind of isn't; we'll see if another one pops up in April.

Awesome! Got tons of DVDs to dump and DVDPlanets website is an utter mess.
Edit: Nevermind. .10 for Butterfly Effect? Screw them. Every DVD I typed in was $1 or less - I'll sell them at a garage sale instead.

In all, I came up with 5 DVDs (including one boxed set) to sell them for $27, so the $5.40 extra will do nicely. And the $2.56 shipping credit they're giving me for selling them 5 DVDs will probably cover the shipping cost.Rob

Thanks for the heads up. I have a lot of DVD that I don't watch to sell. The 20% helps a lot. Thanks again!

No previous rental copies, please.
I beg that your discs are in mint condition ...as I might be the one who receives them as I order a lot from SecondSpin.

Good for multiple orders up to 1/29 11:59:59 pm PST. However it's best to assemble one large order as I think they reimburse shipping on the total DVD count of combined shipments; they will not do individual shipment reimbursements.

I put together another bunch of 17 titles. Some of the prices were pretty good. I had a couple stinkers that I couldn't give away on half.com and they'll pay $1 + 20%. Those really brought the average down. But I ended up with $61 including the $10 bump.
Anything worth less than $4 on half.com I'd rather just trade in. 1 box, 1 trip to the PO, 1 shipping charge. Now I can pick up a few BD's down the road.

I was able to finally get rid of most of my CD collection. About 60 CDs for $220. Not bad at all for a bunch of stuff I'll never listen to again.

cool, thanks for the responses - now to get my stuff together. I got a lot I want to get rid of, so I need to get to work on entering in their UPC's.

I just mailed out 17 DVDs in a box with tracking for $4.57. When you're dealing with trade-in values in the $3 range, giving up 30¢ a title to ship is a necssary evil but you don't want it going much higher than 10% of your total.

Finally! I've been waiting anxiously for over 2 months now.
Do they still reimburse shipping costs when using Media Mail (or was is Parcel Post) for five items or more? Couldn't find anything on the website.

Just a note to folks mailing in boxes. I sell to SecondSpin on a semi-regular basis. I always use media mail with delivery confirmation and have never had a problem.
EXCEPT that sometimes delivery confirmation will say the package has been delivered, but it takes a few days (sometimes up to five) for SecondSpin to send the "we got your package" e-mail. I assume they get backed up sometimes, particularly during these sales. Just don't sweat it if it takes a couple of extra days!
