The $100 discount isn't going through for some reason, is this happening to anyone else?

After selecting the player and 4 movies, are you putting the code: BLUWA100 into the section for gift certificates, coupons, discounts, etc to be applied to the order?

If not, that's why the discount isn't showing.

I think it was back in the middle of last week during this sale that I had seen the BD35 for about $220. I had seen it lower as well, but don't recall exactly what. I am still waiting for it to dip a little more.

You all suck!!!!

I should have not done it, but I did!!!

Panny DMP-BD35K

V For Vendetta
Batman Begins
Full Metal Jacket
Perfect Storm, The (throw-away)

... all for $211.10.

Not at all shabby. Thanks for the head's up OP. I'm hoping the Panny is all that people are saying it is .......

Except for the 7.1 analogs and Divx (no problem) it appears the way to go over the DMP-BD55. Rock on! ..and Merry Christmas to me!

^ Great ... thanks for the reinforcement.

Heh, actually ... I'm quite OK with the purchase. Looking very forward to the overall improvements. The next step is to see the anime benies ..... argh. This could be a very interesting jump indeed.

I want just about to pull the trigger on the Samsung, and now it costs MORE than the Panasonic:
Please note that the price of Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player has increased from $204.54 to $236.86 since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.

Please note that the price of Panasonic DMP-BD35K 1080p Blu-ray Player has decreased from $236.14 to $234.41 since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.

Samsung BD-P1500 now $202.24

and

Panasonic DMP-BD35K now $232.47

Is there any difference between the DMP-BD35K and the DMP-BD35?

There is only the DMP-BD35K. A lot of people, such as myself, don't bother putting the K at the end when posting.

I think the "K" is just a code for the color of the player (in this case, black or black), because I know I've seen "S" for silver players before (although not on this particular model line).

(But that's just an educated guess, so I could be wrong)

You are correct. I believe that black(noir) is all that is currently available in the US.

I'm only asking this here since both of these players are in the sale, and the prices might jump before I ever get a response in the Players thread. I'm trying to decide between the Samsung 1500 and the Panny BD35. Someone please help sway me! I have a Sony 7.1 receiver, however it only has HDMI pass-through (wish I knew that before it was too late). So my audio will come via digital optical. My TV is only 1080i. Any comments that may help me decide? TIA!

I know most here seem to prefer the Sony and Panasonic players as those seem to be quick and have less problems with certain discs.

Personally, I own the 1500 and haven't had any major problems with it. It's been upgraded to the latest firmware (2.1 as of Dec 2nd) and the 40+ titles that I own are all pretty flawless. I don't have any complaints about the load times either.

Thanks, fumanstan. I believe this is the cheaper the 1500 has ever been (down to $201.63 now), and the Panny has been cheaper. I know I can get 2 free titles in the mail, but I'd rather save the 30 bucks now and get the Samsung, unless I hear good reasons to go with the Panny instead.

While I'm not knocking the Samsung because it is a good player, the Panasonic DMP-BD35 was selected as an "Editor's Choice" at CNET

What receiver do you have?

The BD35 does decode DTS-HD MA if you plan to upgrade to a receiver that will accept HDMI audio.

Here's CNET's review of the Sammy 1500-

http://reviews.cnet.com/video-player...tml?mncol;also

-not nearly as glowing of a review as the one the Panny received. I would highly recommend ponying up the extra $30 and get the BD35. Also, the two free titles(Ratatouille and Nightmare Before Christmas) are two of the better titles currently available on BD.
