Very disappointed. I tried to pre-order the movie Sunday and was told they were out of the posters and it would be useless pre-ordering. Tonight I went to the midnight sale and they sold out of the figurines and even the Joker cards that were supposed to come with the DVD. No shirts or freebies of any kind. I'm glad I have the 2-disc version...but I was looking forward to some goodies and could have picked it up at a normal time if I was just getting the DVD.

It's experiences like yours that I'm glad I just went to my nearby Wal-Mart to get the coin version and the two-disc version. I thought those freebies at Best Buy aren't too bad, but I knew that unless I waited outside for about an hour or so, I wouldn't have a chance, and there was no guarantee the Best Buy I went to would have many, if any. I've learned that about Best Buy. They have these offers/deals, but don't always come through.
Same went for that free remote-control tank they were offering if you pre-ordered Gears of War 2's special edition. I went to get it, and they had ZERO tanks. They gave me a raincheck, said they'd call when they got them in. I called the next morning, and the guy said that they got some in YESTERDAY, in the middle of the day, and that they're now gone. GEEZ, thanks for not calling me!
So rather than waiting for an hour in the cold at Best Buy without any guarantee my time spent would be worth it, I just went to at 24-hour Wal-Mart, shopped around a little bit until they wheeled out the Dark Knight display. There were about 5 to 10 other people also waiting around for it, everyone was cool and calm. I picked up my copies and left.

So...the Circuit City "Why So Serious?" cover...is that DVD only or do they have it for Blu-ray as well? Everything Ive seen makes it look like its DVD only.

Best Buy was also selling the Dark Knight steelbook at the midnight release, same one as FYE. I was shocked as it had not been announced anywhere at all. There were only a handful available... probably 20 or less.

Patman 12-09-08 07:09 AM

Anyone else try ordering the Joker statuette for store pick-up? The Batman statuette doesn't show up on their websight (yet?).

tpockets 12-09-08 07:46 AM

I just ordered the The Dark Knight Exclusive Joker Statuette and Dark Knight with Exclusive Joker Mask - Blu-ray Disc from bestbuy.com for in-store pickup just incase either of them sells out fast once the store opens.

My store did have a midnight release but wasn't a special event one so I didn't bother going. Also the Dark Knight with Exclusive Joker Mask - Blu-ray Disc shows up $36.99 online vs $39.99 in the weekly ad.

Interesting, I didn't know they were selling those. I'll have to grab one this morning at BB.

Has any one picked up the Target exclusive? Is there bonus content?

Elpresidentepez 12-09-08 08:27 AM

The joker statuette is on best buy's website $9.99 with in-store pickup if available. Limit 1 per person and you don't need to order the dvd as well. The batman statuette is not on bestbuy.com thou.

Just picked up the Blu-ray from Best Buy. Received the joker card from the cashier. This is probably the only release I will make a trip to the store for to get it on release day. Everyone in line was buying a version for their own too.

There is a sticker stating that there is a 40-minute bonus feature, but I haven't watched it yet to confirm. Honestly, I may just return it, as I am not too impressed with the packaging.

How much was it? Blu Ray or DVD?

I was thinking about picking up the Target exclusive blu-ray mask as well. Is it plastic and similar to the Iron Man mask Target released? I wasn't too impressed with that version was cheap plastic.

I'm pretty sure they only released a Steelbook for the regular DVD in the U.S. I think the only Steelbook Blu-ray you can buy is from Amazon's German website.

Folks wondering if the Target Batmask (DVD Version) has Target Bonus features: it does. It comes with a seperate bonus disc containing "Batman Unmasked". That disc is totally seperate from the Digitial copy which on that disc has the mentioned Digitial Copy as well as the other features associate to the 2 Disc Special Edition.
Its 3 discs, plus the batmask packaging for $22.

That, and Futureshop has them as well.

Anyone have a picture of the Joker Card? My Best Buy didn't get any in, and I want to know if it's worth coming back with my receipt.

steebo777 12-09-08 09:23 AM

Yeah no BD steelbooks at BB :(

I was able to purchase two of the Joker staturettes this morning. I asked a clerk at bb and he said they weren't told about a limit on the figures so no problems were brought up at checkout.

I will complain if they run out due to selling multiple copies. The ad lists one per customer.

SethDLH 12-09-08 09:49 AM

So, I've been seeing that Best Buy has been getting the steelbooks also, does anyone know how much they cost at BB and FYE?

Batman Unmasked is that psychology of the Dark Knight one that's on the Blu-Ray disc isn't it?
