So any confirmation about extra material with the Target version?

I think the last three hero exclusive releases look pretty terrible at Target. The Iron Man mask Batman mask and especially the Hulk packaging look horrible. Actually this is one of the times the packaging caused me not to buy the movie. I would have bought the Hulk there for the extra features but the packaging was just to big and ugly. Ended up not picking that movie up at all.

Every store site I go to only show either the Batpod image or Batman in front of the burning builiding picture as the cover. I recall seeing pictures at, I think, this site showing a slipcover with a Joker image inside, or vice versa.

That would be Circuit City with the Joker slipcover. That's the one I am getting!!

I was under the impression that for the 2 disc, the batpod picture is the slipcover with the Joker picture underneath.

I've already got the "normal" Blu-Ray from the WB Store and am torn on whether or not to bother getting a steelbook...

That German CD looks better than the US Blu-Ray CE Batpod...

I must be getting numb to this stuff. My favorite movie and I may not be getting any LE content with this release....

I think you'd be fine with just the Blu Ray version you bought, especially since it has the most bonus features. Steelbooks, in general, are cool, but why pay that much for less features, and for DVD, not Blu-Ray? I don't have Blu-Ray, so I'm getting the steelbook, as I think it's the best exclusive available.

Ah, thanks. I do like that Joker picture that's underneath. If they had used that one for the exclusive Circuit City packaging, I would have gone for it. As of now, I'm getting the FYE steelbook and then the Wal-Mart single disc version that comes with the Harvey Dent coin.

WBshop.com has some pretty cool BAT-POD BLU-RAY specials. They all come with a keychain thing that shines the Bat Signal (worth $9.50). Anyway, check it out...

I called Best Buy to inquire about the midnight release and the guy said he only had one other call about it today and that they would have plenty of copies, specifying 700 for the Blu-ray version. He said they had like pins to give away and some shirts, but wasn't sure if the shirts were being sold as part of a bundle or given away too. Oh well, going to head down there with a friend early and see if there's a line or anything.

I was talking about the Blu-Ray steelbook. The only feature that is missing is the digital copy (at least, I think it's missing... but, it's irrelevant to me).

Hello, first post here. Didnt find out about this entire forum until now. This will be my new favorite place to visit!

I have a question, does anyone know if the advertised Target Exclusive TDK DVD contains bonus materials exclusive to Target?

The flyer is vague in stating if there are features exclusive to Target, like with the Huge Hulk DVD (which I got for that reason).

I'm on the fence of waiting until tomorrow to go to Target for extra features, or get TDK tonight at a moviestop.

Any help is much appreciated,

Tyler

Welcome to your movie paradise,
I've read (in one of the dozens of dark knight threads i've looked at ) that someone saw a commercial on it and they said something like "commercial shows their release will have target exclusive bonus material" take that for its worth as I personally haven't seen the commercial.

We won't know for sure until someone opens up a set and compares the features. Target is notorious for advertising exclusive content and not delivering.

By the way, if you're an exclusive fan, we have a weekly thread here detailing all of them.

Ah, I see. Since you already got the Blu-Ray standard one, you might as well just stick with it. But I guess it depends on how much you want the steelbook.
Any chance you could cancel your order for the standard one, or you actually have it in your possession?

SPiRAL 12-08-08 08:24 PM

I'm just gonna go with the Target mask.

Got it and already watched half of it. If I get the steelbook, it'll be more for a collecting thing. I may sell of the standard if I get the steelbook... maybe. There was no way I'd be waiting a couple of weeks to have this anyway.

yourlocalcinema 12-08-08 08:30 PM

CC for me. The packaging just looks more similar to the original two-disc Batman Begins release, and I've always loved that poster they used for the cover.

tman3501 12-08-08 08:45 PM

I plan on picking up the TDK bright and early from Best Buy

Only watched half of it? What are you doing here typing? Watch the rest of it! :)

Some Best Buys will be open at midnight, if you need your Dark Knight fix much earlier. :)

Kory 12-08-08 09:08 PM

Probably will pick up the following:

- FYE Exclusive SteelBook
- Best Buy Exclusive Blu-Ray Clown Mask Set (w/ Exclusive Joker Playing Card)
- Circuit City Exclusive "Why So Serious?" Joker cover and journal
- Walmart Exclusive w/ Harvey Dent Coin (and then re-gift the single-disc edition it comes with)

If Target truly has exclusive content, I'd be forced to buy that mask set from there as well, but I'd rather not, as the Iron Man one looked pretty cheap and flimsy.

I never go all-out like this but I'm too big of a fan of the movie to not do it.

devilshalo 12-08-08 09:15 PM

Called around to the local CCs and no one has any midnite sale. Looks like I'll miss out on the Joker cover as I'll be traveling.

dlinke01 12-08-08 10:40 PM

I don't understand buying the same movie just because of the covers. I can understand because of bonus features or extended cuts, but covers?

devilshalo - I wish I could help you get your hands on the CC exclusive but my financial situation is crappy right now.

cranberries fan 12-08-08 10:58 PM

It's Target for me.

Moopher 12-08-08 11:07 PM

Well I have the Futureshop / Amazon.de SteelBooks coming..

But I want to watch this, I only saw it once in theaters. I'm watching Batman Begins as I type..

Anyway, I was going to drive to one of the Midnight openings, but it's snowing too bad here, and the closest is 40 minutes away...quite a waste. I will go to Wal-Mart and price-match.

People collect things. Alot of people collect DVDs and even more collect comic book related things. There are a whole bunch of Batman nerds (I mean that in the best way :)) out there

NiCK Crush 12-08-08 11:37 PM

Just got back from the Best Buy midnight release in my area...

I got the Blu-ray with Clown Mask bust, as well as the Joker figurine. Passed on the Bat-pod edition, because I'm going to be getting the Mask packaging from Target in the morning.

Best Buy as giving away black t-shirts with the Batman logo made up of Ha Ha Ha's in white lettering. It says on the back: The Madness Begins on DVD & Blu-ray 12-9-08. Best Buy logo on left sleeve.

Also got an I Believe in Harvey Dent button and Joker playing card.
