Amazon sales typically don't list an expiration date, so it's always a bit of a crapshoot. Get'em while they're hot!

Were the prices cheaper during the buy 1 get 1 sale at deepdiscount?

They were slightly cheaper during the DD sale at about $12.xx or $16.xx depending on the title.

I think my average cost came out to be about $16 per title during the DD sale. There are some different titles available with this sale and there were titles in the DD sale that aren't part of the Amazon sale. You also don't know if DD is going to repeat that sale (or what titles they are going to have). That's why I went ahead and picked up some more through this sale.

$15.99 - Bob le Flambeur
$19.99 - The Complete Mr. Arkadin
$46.99 - Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales
$18.99 - Amarcord
Total for this Order: $101.96

Nice to get a 2nd shot at the Rohmer set after the DD cancellation during the last 20% sale.

Yes, but we can now find some discounted titles which were not discounted at DD.

Man, what a time to not have any money

I'd totally jump on Arkadin, even as a blind buy.

Ugetsu, Throne of Blood, and In the Mood for Love for me.

I may put in a second order for Two Lane Blacktop and Pickup on South Street. Not decided on those yet.

Both were blind buys for me, with thrilling results. Brilliant films, although quite different from one another. I endorse your second order.

I picked up the Cassavetes set and Mr. Arkadin. I'm loving these Criterion sales.

The Complete Mr. Arkadin is now $18.99 - a drop of another $1 in today's Gold box discount.

The Gold Box "Quick Picks" vary from person to person (targeted marketing) so it's likely still $19.99 for most people. A few of these titles have shown up in my QPs as well.

As do I. Two Lane Blacktop is loaded with extras, including the original screenplay, laconic though it might be.

Yeah, with all the dialogue, the screenplay might run a whopping ten pages or so.

Interesting film, though.

The screenplay included is 111 pages. I don't know if it's the theatrical cut or the original one though, which I believe was something like three and a half hours long.

It's a really great set, I made it through everything but the booklet and screenplay last week. Definitely recommended.

Totally agree! Both films are flat out terrific making the sale prices just that much sweeter.

Thank you OP.

Vampyr, Trafic and High & Low are the only Criterions I need. These sales are great but no longer apply to me.

If you have the MoC Vampyr you don't need the Criterion edition - the former has all of the latter's extras, and then some.
