Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I went to barnes and noble yesterday since its closing three months ago because of COVID-19. The TV show Creepshow season 1 blu-ray was $25.50 (30% discount). Great price but very surprised that membership was no longer good for another 10% discount. Cashier said that 10% membership discount was only good for NON-SALE items and the Creepshow blu-ray was already 30%. Sale sticker said "30% off" but didn't have "members save additional 10%" on it which was usually the case. Anybody knows if this is a new policy??? If this is the case, membership is just paying for sales tax. I bought the blu-ray anyway because 30% was the best discount available.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

It was briefly discussed a few weeks ago right after reopening though it appears we're seeing mreo reports that the 10% is now pretty much dead adn membership isn't worth much.

Free Shipping and 40% Bestsellers is about it as far as I can tell.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

If you have the entertainment book or are a member at entertainment.com, there is a 15 % percent off coupon for barnes and noble in store. The only thing is the last time I tried to use it, they wouldn't let me use it on an item on sale. You can get entertainment book pretty cheap by buying the enternment book or entertainment.com membership through a cashback site.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Isn;t that's a generic reusable couple (in theory). I think that was the origin of the Secret Santa coupon last Christmas or maybe that was a different Regional coupon booklet

Are there two 6 months coupons this year (Jan to Jun and July to Dec) or just the single coupon I'm assuming with a Dec 31 exp?

Barnes was bleeding money before Coronavirus hit. It's very difficult in 2020 turning a profit on mass market book sales when every customer can price check competitors through their phone.

If you have the entertainment.com membership, you print from the website an official coupon. In the entertainment book, there is an official coupon that you tear out for one use. I don't want to reproduce their coupons online for unlimited use. The one online has a dec 31 date.
I tried to use the one in the book on an arrow video during the last sale and they wouldn't let me use it because it was on sale so it isn't that great. You do get one digital coupon and one book coupon with each book membership.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting to post the coupon since it's a subscription type code -- mainly just wanted to know the exp date and if was a one time use or generic coupon, but it sounds like the latter.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

It appears there are now several people reporting a July 10, 2020 start date but no clear end date so for now I'll assume the original reddit 8/2 will apply

Items releasing during the sale should be 50% OFF as soon as the sale starts -- all should be 39.99 MSRP (19.99 at 50%) except those boxsets noted with higher prices

Items releasing after the sale end shouldn't be 50% off either online or via shiptohome orders, but occasionally there have been glitches and if the sale extends a week or two that could bring a few more titles into the 50% Sale so I'll list them anyway

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Are we now 100% sure that the 10% membership discount no longer applies to items on sale (including criterion)? If so, what's the point of paying for the membership? They must have done a cost-benefit analysis and found that the cost of the discount exceeds that of revenue loss from canceled membership.

No we're not sure. It seems probable given the latest reports pre-sale, but until it's on I will hold out a small hope.

I think you may be giving the new owners a bit too much credit. So far they've run the UK playbook on US B&N and I suspect they don't quite understand the US
customer and marketplace for bookstores compared to the UK which has an entirely different tradition both on Local Bookstores and 'Membership" mentality especially the
US customer psychological extreme distaste for having things taken away from them that they are used to without replacing it with something

They're probably crossing their fingers and hoping nobody notices they're not getting the 10% discounts on everything they buy.

Well, at least the first couple reports are saying the 10% Member discount is applying, so one disaster averted

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I was at Barnes and Noble this morning and I can confirm that I got the 10% discount on the Criterion Collection "The Grand Hotel Budapest" blu-ray which was 50% off as part of the Criterion Collection sale. I asked the manager why the 10% discount didn't work on some discounted items a few weeks ago. She said that she had no idea but she speculated that it could have something to do the stores switching over to a new inventory system. Apparently Barnes and Noble has a new owner and they took the opportunity of the lockdown to upgrade all their stores to a new system. All's well that ends well, as one would say.

The 50% off Criterion sale is on and I'm getting a lot of "temporarily out of stock" messages on titles. Jeez.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

For the first time in memory I happen to be local to a B&N store on the opening day. I was the only one shopping for Criterions, but 2 different Clerks were happy to talk about Movies today and apparently the Main
Movie person at this store wasn't even there today. Such a breath of fresh air compared to most youngins whose first response is " Ick, what are those dinosaurs. Why don't ya jus scream em or torrent em"

Their 2 copies of WotW were already sold as well as Grand Budapest, but most everything else was in stock -- Showboat, Great Escape, An Unmarried Woman, Destry and Six Moral Tales were there which made it a good trip plus picked up several more while I just happened to be there No problem with the extra 10%, but I nearly wiped out my cheap GC.

Too bad the sale ends on 8/4. That means the Varda box set will have to wait until the next sale.

Does anyone have a coupon to spare? I’d love to buy something from the Criterion Collection this month; the blu-rays are still out of my budget even with the sale.

No coupons I know of and even if there was one it wouldn't work on Criterions unless you have a very nice clerk/manager

Anyone have any idea why Insomnia Criterion is not 50% off?

That's the original 2014 Dual Format/Combo release which was rereleased last year as a BD only. In the past only the most current release will be 50% off during these sales.
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd...=0715515234412

Not sure why, but most commonly the original release usually is sold out or removed from teh site, but there always seems to be a couple old stragglers with each sale.
