Odd coupon on a couple fronts. It ends Saturday night in store and Midnight Pacific Online.

That would tend to mean a Sunday coupon is imminent for St Patricks. I guess I'd expect something bigger otherwise it'd make no sense to split the weekend
Usually there would also be a Beginning of Spring coupon next weekend so we'll have to see if they do it then or wait for the end of March weekend to avoid consecutive weeks.

What I'm not sure of -- IF you have some 15% one time codes or 20% Mailer codes, will they stack in store.
Very often, an item code and Whole Cart code will add. If it does, then this could be a very nice savings on some items.
If the clerks won't ring 2 codes on 1 item or the POS computer spits out one of them, I'd consider adding some $1 or cheap item (0.99 CD Opener or Chocolate Bar) and see what happens.

Just got back from a wasted trip to my B&N store.

I was contemplating getting off a small (very small) order at DD with their 15% (or rather, 6% after the tax hit) coupon. Then I remembered B&N sent me some 20% off member coupons and they expire today.
I looked online, crunched the numbers, and even though the B&N prices were all a couple dollars higher, with the 20% + 10% member discounts, I would end up saving about $5 for two titles.
Worth it enough to make the trip since I also had to hit the Target next door.

Turns out, everything I wanted defaulted to full list price for ship to home at the store. The Shout Factory titles I checked I noticed immediately, but I didn't catch the other until I was already checking out. The cashier attempted tthe override and she was going to be able give me the online price, and I'd be able to use my coupon, but I wouldn't be able to get the 10% member discount as well.
I told her to just forget it.

I guess I should be grateful to find this out now as my membership was due to roll over in May. Not only will I be saving $25 there, but not having that discount will cause me to dial way back on the upcoming Criterion sale.

This policy must have just gone into effect, because I was able to use my member discount + the 20 off coupons back in February with a SF release as well as a Sony MOD title with no change between the online price and the dedicated store STH price.

I don't understand -- the Online vs Store price has always been an issue in that sometimes they're the same and sometimes they are wildly different. It's one of the big things people have complained about for years that they don't match and up until recently wouldn't price match each other. You must have run into one of those times/sales where things matched up if the WebPrice and In-store ship to home were the same, but that has never been a certainty

The only new policy I'm aware of is any sort of Official Price Match which I first heard about last spring or summer.
When they started PriceMatching their own site (whether ShipToHome or actual In-store) essentially it becomes a Web Order using the Pick up Instore option which negates the Member Discount.
It's almost the opposite of ShipToHome program when you use Instore prices and get the member instore 10%.

I guess I just got lucky the last time and the in store computer prices were just the same as online, so the 10% had no problem working in conjunction with the coupons?

What I found aggravating was that I knew I vetted the listing she pulled up for the movie,and specifically the price, because we had just pulled up two other titles that I noticed immediately were more expensive.
This one, the price must have flipped when she put in the member info and expedited ship to home and printed it out, because it was $10 more expensive on the printed receipt (that I didn't bother looking at) when I went to cash out than it was on the terminal screen.

Whatever the case, B&N will still be on "do not bother" list from now on simply because I'm not going to waste gas or phone time just to find out if the price I'm seeing online at home is the same one I'll be getting when I get to the store.

Actually there;s a 3rd 20% off coupon specifically for just DVD or Bluray. If does has a few more restrictions -- main one being it's not supposed to work for anything already 40% of greater.

It’s interesting to know that there are now restrictions on certain sale items.

I bought the 1960s Batman Season One DVD set for my younger brother a month ago. The 15% coupon didn’t work. The cashier tried it a few times without any luck. The manager tried doing it too but it still didn’t work. She was kind enough to call somebody in New York and was told that the coupons no longer stack for any sale item that was greater than 50% off. Luckily I still got the 10% membership discount.

I've been away & out of the loop, but... Here's a caveat. I tried to use a recent mailer coupon. I put a book in my cart, used the coupon on it, and then added a second book less than half the price, and the coupon switched to the lower-priced book. The coupon itself still has the language about being used on the highest-price item in the cart. I took items out and put them back in, and even added a Dover Thift Edition, and the coupon always applied to the lowest-cost item. Something has changed recently, because coupons used to be on the highest-price item. The only way to use a coupon on a high-dollar item right now seems to be to make it the only item in your cart.

Odd behaviour on both things.

I just added a 50% off Bluray and tried regular 20% with no restriction and the Restricted 20% Movie Only and they worked (not both at the same time of course)
I then added a higher priced item to the cart and the codes switched to the higher priced item

I certainly remember the 60% off British TV being blocked over the holidays when the week before they had worked on the same items at 50% and there were those 50% off Holiday Items that were
not only blocked from coupons, but even the Member Discount.. The one thing that has hurt me (at least my feelings) a couple times has been the coupon restriction on the Member 40% off Bestseller List items
I've gotten to the point that if a book I know is likely to hit the Top 100 list is 33% off I consider buying it with a coupon rather than wait for it to make the 40% list. I also had some those 70-80% off Overstock Books
that the Coupons still worked on so an odd combination,

So again some YMMV situations. I will say that if they block coupons on the 40% Off Sale items in June and Dec that will put a bit of a dent though with the member discount
it still puts the WAC sets right in the 4/44 price range already even before accounting for Gift Card discounts if there are any.
