Postcards being received about Double Member discount weekend coming up -- 2 people so far and identical weekend to last year

May 16th-19th they'll have a double discounts on most in-store purchases -- usual exclusions likely to be present.

There is also a 50% off British TV sale online similar to the December sale, but no added coupons allowed. I have read no reports on if this is an in-store sale, but if it is then
the Member Appreciation weekend could be a nice addition for in-store or ship to home orders.

Somewhat unique to get a store coupon for 20% a whole basket in-store

If you have some 15% Instore Single Items coupons or the 20% Mailers and with the way BN store computers work with coupons if this might allow stacking. It may be blocked, but it may take 15 or 20% off the item and then 20% off the order -- probably worth a try honestly.

I haven't heard anything. BN isnt the most forthcoming about sales so sometimes they can't/won't say until a few days ahead.

Last year it started 6/29 which is a week ahead of normal so my best guess would be July 2 or 9 though I guess if they want to get a running start and an extra weekend it could bump back to 6/28
. Historically it's usually be the 1st Tues after July 4th, but the last few sales have started a bit earlier than they usual.

Another somewhat odd coupons -- there are generic 10% off whole order coupons and Unique ID 10% whole order store and online for nonmembers.

As mentioned there is also a 15% off Whole Order Member only code. I could make a killer order with that on a huge ship to home order next week IF the 40% goes on like normal

Elliott Management reportedly in lead to acquire bookseller Barnes & Noble

I did not know what Elliott Management is, but it's a hedge fund. They're going to take B&N private, and once private equity gets a company behind closed doors, nothing good happens. They load their acquisition up with debt, loot as much as they can out of the company, and try to sell the company to someone else before it collapses. If it does collapse, they'll just move on to the next one. The fact that the only buyer for B&N is a private-equity raider means B&N is well and truly valueless. No bookstore, retailer, or anyone wanted the company. Any deals that would have saved the company fell through last year. When private equity takes over a company, the company will not grow and is unlikely to even survive. If this deal happens, it's the beginning of the end for B&N.

40% off MSRP Blu-ray sale appears active -- June 11 through probably end of the day June 17
DVDs don't appear to be part of the sale this year at least online.

Nice conversation with a clerk who was busy rearranging the Movie Department today (not losing titles, just a new shelving pattern) and she dropped that the Criterion Sale appears to be scheduled to start Friday June 28 and run through early August -- guessing Monday 8/5 if it runs the same length as last year

Note correction in the OP. I actually saw the Printed BN signage in store an hour ago for the first time and it appears the end date is Sunday Night June 16, not Monday 17th
