It sets up some easier deals for those who have trouble or don't won't to use a bunch of separate coupons and some interesting multi-coupon deals if your store allows you to apply more than a single coupon per purchase.

Criterion Online are completely blocked from coupons, but they do work for other items as do the other single item codes in the WIKI

I have extras that I think are ready to be go. If you need them just PM me and tell me how many of each type you might want

I would love two $10 off $50 of more purchase if you have or any 20% off coupons would be amazing.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone tried the $10 off of $50 online yet to see
if Criterions are allowed or excluded?

As long as you want 3 normal Criterions at a time it's actually a hair cheaper with it than using "3 15%" or even "two 20 and a 15%"

With "normal" being $39.99/19.99 or $29.99/14.99...? I was hoping to buy some $30/15 DVDs, and can't find a good combination now that the terms say "after discounts including member discount".

Just tried it again -- invalid

I was told that the $10 off $50 coupons are being randomly treated in computer as 'store only'. (Although I doubt that, because it seems to be specifically Criterion disabling, but... all information is interesting. For example, I hear that there was a Tuesday morning memo rendering BNSPARKLER invalid, and that an earlier nook coupon this year was also cancelled prior to it's 'official' date.) There's also a drive to make it one DEAL per household, not one coupon. So a sheaf of unique codes may be moot soon if they're all the same type... be prepared for that possibility. Loopholes and deals being closed and cancelled even as their frequency seems to increase. One hand giveth...

Thanks. :) Almost immediately after typing-aloud it occured to me that 3x20 was the same as 4x15 and wasn't at all bad.

Maybe tomorrow I'll find out if they're allowing coupon (or even coupons) this year.....

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Got denied use of the $8 off a DVD coupon today.
The guy tried to ring it through, but he got an error saying "Coupon XXXXXX requirements not met."
Weird thing was that the same error happened with a $19.99 Criterion and a $65 Criterion box set. Very strange. Could it be that it's because he scanned my membership card before scanning the coupon? So I paid $17.99, which was fine (I wasn't going to push it, as the guy was nice enough).

Last week, when I got Love Streams, the girl scanned the movie, scanned my coupon, then scanned my card. It all worked fine and I paid $9.99.

I wonder if the scanning order makes a difference, or if the in-store coupon terms were changed (If it was already mentioned in this thread, my bad... I just wanted to post my experience with it)

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I think the order does (or at least did) have something to do with it. I went to 2 different locations and tried the 10off50 + 3 * 15% combo and in both cases they went through, but not in a completely correct way (as in, I got most of the discount but not all of it). If my memory serves me correctly all 3 15%'s went through, then when they went to scan the 10off50 one of the 15% offs got replaced with the $10 off and total wound up too high by about $3. I then pointed it out to them and they had a moment of eureka and realized they forgot to do something, re-scanned and then everything worked. Happened in exactly the same way at both locations.

I'm not sure, but it's possible they needed to force the 10/50 coupon to act as a transaction coupon, otherwise it sounds like the POS is trying to process it as another Item Off coupon (which you can only have as many as you have items).

That sounds like it might have been it. The first 3 15% coupons all went through ok (no override) and then one of them got dropped and had to be re-entered. So it does sound like out of the box it was limiting the # of coupons to the # of items (but that there was also a 'backdoor' of sorts). Yeah, total was $41 + tax, so ~$14 per title (which was about what I was paying with the BNSPARKLER coupon). So all in all, not a total loss. I wound up with 13 titles this time around.

Why do we always do things the hard way. It finally dawned on me to just use the phone 1930's style.

Called one of my B&N and asked about Member Appreciation day. The manager answered adn said absolutely a go for the 1 day Double Member Discount on Saturday July 23. Of course more than one confirmation would be useful, but I'd say I'm 95% sure it's on

Just received an email confirming the Member Appreciation day for 20% off in-store on Saturday, 7/23 only.

Member appreciation day was fun for Criterion Box sets--particularly if you used it in conjunction with the $8 off $40 coupon: the $124.99 titles went down to $41.99, and the $99.99 titles went down to $31.99. About as good as it gets I think.

Store Coupon -- Click for printable coupon or it may be more reliable if you just take the store code. Universal Customer. may be re-usable dependent on clerk

20% Off One Item -- valid at BN.com from July 25, 2016 at 12:01am to August 1, 2016 at 2:59am Eastern Time, and at Barnes & Noble stores from July 25, 2016 to July 31, 2016 at close of business.
Store Coupon B3F4Y9D and Online Coupon BNWILD
No way to tell is this will work in-store on Criterions until someone tries, but online it's still blocked

Ill be visting a B&N on Wednesday to test the coupon in case no one else does by then.

Has anyone else noticed that the booklets for Criterion's seem to be getting smaller? I was just watching my copy of 'Double Life of Veronique' which is like spine number 300-something and it has a 40 page booklet. Then I looked at my other titles that are somewhat older and most of them have really nice beefy booklets. Then I looked at all the recent ones (e.g. spine #s in the 700-800) and they've got these comparatively puny 6 page pamphlets. Not sure if maybe its just a coincidence wrt the titles I happen to have, or if its an unfortunate trend.

Tried to use the 20% off instore coupon today at two different B & N shops and neither time code worked.

Both times the under-25 clerks tried to come up with B.S. like, "did you already use this coupon?" even though I hadn't and it clearly states that it is not a single use coupon.

Talked one clerk into giving me the discount. Other one wouldn't budge.

Another instance of B&N stores not really having a consistent policy. If you get a younger clerk you are more likely to have them dig in their heels as they apparently haven't yet realized that their jobs DEPEND upon making sales.

The Totally Random nature of whether you get a discount from them or not pisses me off at least once during every Criterion sale period.

Heck, just in case people near those stores haven't received it. Of the 5 people (4 BN members who use them regularly) who contacted me earlier who lived and shopped previously in those stores -- none of them had gotten it directly

I am 2 for 2 in using the 30% coupon at stores in completely different states than the 10 stores listed on the coupon. Huge YMMV of course, but some clerks will do a manual override to make it work. It both cases, I used the coupon on my phone. Without resizing it, the bolded part about the limited stores is not visible on the screen. They would have to scroll down to see it. One clerk did, but she somehow missed it, despite analyzing the coupon for like 5 minutes.

Has B&N Stopped doing free trial memberships? I know they used to pop up automatically online if you spent more than a certain amount and weren't a member.

If so, anyone have a membership number they don't mind loaning out for a few small purchases?
