I was just able to use it too - three times on the same account!

Received a B&N flier in the mail today for Member Appreciation Days. Double the 10% membership store discount from September 24th to 27th. Any coupons expected during that time? It looks like the small print says it may not be combined with other promotions or discounts, though.

Since the stores sell items at full MSRP (cover price), this isn't a very good deal. The MSRP over the past few years has been inflated so much to "price in" the online discount that most items are sold for 25-40% off online. Even this year prices have been climbing to the point a 20% off discount doesn't match the online price. (I have three upcoming items pending that are 28, 23, and 36% off the MRSP online.) I can't understand why BN won't make their store prices more competitive since the way items are priced has changed recently to account for deep online discounts.

I guess the thread didn't flag the new message. The coupons in the OP have expired. I posted the next round of equivalent codes and coupons that expires late October a page to so back, but I'll copy it here to keep it closer to the front of the line.

A second Latte coupon showed up yesterday with a Dec expire date indicating there likely will be another set of these after the Oct set expires (good for NOV Criterions, BF, and Pre Xmas sales).


The formatting of these is a slight bit different than normal and I haven't seen any posts from people using them in-store yet so report back if they work without a problem.

I think I found the in-store equivalents, but I'm not sure if these are the right ones -- instead of the prior 6 number codes that they've been for 7-8 years, they now how the 7 digit alphanumerics that look like the online codes.

And things get a little more interesting -- this has the style of past a generic instore multiuse code starting Thursday. They haven't had a generic in a very long time though last October there was a Family Appreciation coupon similar in style to this one

I think there will likely be a printable version, but I'm not sure of the exact link yet- I think I could guess the link, but I hate for the coupon to end up not being official because what I'm seeing now has a little of same problem as the new member coupons in that they don't quite look like previous coupons. Maybe B&N is using a new template or font in their coupons, but I'll wait until Thursday to see if an direct coupon shows up

Anyone know what the "unique key" is for the free membership? Is it just the email address, or does the shipping address, credit card number etc factor in? Historically I've tried to change all 3 every time I sign up, but its getting tedious (and they're are only so many ways I can permute my address and still expect to get my mail). Thanks...

Yep - email + credit card. Finding the free 2 month membership offer was a challenge. Apparently they've removed it from most of the usual places (including their membership faq which talks about it, but doesn't give you a link to actually get it). I had to add a bunch of stuff to my cart and try to check out as a guest. Then I got the link, then I added the free membership at which point then it told me to login. I think either 1) they're trying to severely limit the free memberships or 2) its yet another glitch with the new website.

The key to multiple free trials is the phone number. This is what they use to look up your account if you don't have your card with you in store. I've used the same credit card and address many times. As long as you use a different e-mail (obviously), and change the phone number it will go through.

The algorithm might be more complicated then. I've used the same phone number for every free trial I've gotten from them. They might require either a unique email + unique phone OR a unique email + unique credit card.

Actually, I don't see how they could reliably use the phone number. When people move, phone numbers get recycled and someone winds up with your old number (unless you take it with you). So that doesn't really seem like a way they would use to identify unique memberships, even when combined with the email (they might as well just rely on the email at that point). I know they use it in the store to lookup your account if you don't have your number handy, but that's just because its a convenient thing that people would remember.

Yeah, it's not the phone number as I've used the same phone number through multiple trial accounts too. Although that could have changed since the last time I had a trial account, which was in the summer.

There was one way that I got a free trial account. But I'll have to see whether or not the method change due to their new website.

Edit: it's usually unique email + credit card. I've read that if you remove the credit card # from your old account you can use it again. That method worked for me once last year. Don't know whether or not they fixed it with the new site and all.

A few new codes and a special Halloween Coupon. I haven't seen anything else about new email coupons next week, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the 20% Member Holiday coupon listed earlier to be active next week sometime.

I just got a BN mailer with two printed 20% off one item coupons (online or store), so if you're a member, you can look out for it. These coupons expire on Nov 15, so that's interesting since I remember last year getting one set of printed coupons for the entire holiday season (which expired Dec 24). Maybe this is a sign that they'll be less stingy this year. Two years ago they had a bunch of holiday coupons, and seemed to pull back last year.
