At first I was thinking those aren't very good, but after thinking about it, since they almost never have coupons good off of an entire purchase, these could be useful when purchasing multiple items, especially if buying a bunch of cheap titles.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Though What I've been noticing more often as of late (at least on the items I've been buying) is that when these coupons (or no coupons) are out the base prices are already marked down 15% to 30% off... but when the member coupons drop the've been sneaking prices back up 0% to 12% off
Aren't math games are fun?

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Trying to get the best deal is interesting. So far, the best deal I have found is free member shipping on any size order (so you can order one item at a time) + BN's online discount + using a coupon. This lets you use one coupon per order. No other retailer (including BN's store) comes close. Other retailers (like Amazon) offer free shipping on any order, but the yearly fee is much higher so you take a lot longer to break even. And they don't have coupons. I've added up the same order at BN and other places, such as direct from the publisher with a discount, and BN always comes with the lower price for me. As long as Laser and Hari have extra coupons, that's the best deal you can get.
Earlier in the year, we saw percent discount codes, not these $X off of $Y coupons, which is what Books-A-Million used to have. (And probably still does, but I haven't gone to them in a long time.) They're not a good deal because the discount is lower, and every penny you go over $Y lowers the effective discount. One size does not fit all. If you don't have a member card for free shipping (so you can't use one coupon per order), these coupons could be a good alternative, especially the 10% off coupon ($5 off of $50).
But I'd still look at the $25 member card. You have to spend about $160 to break even (meaning you saved $25 which pays for the card) using only 15% off coupons. If you're fortunate, BN will send you either 20% off coupons in the mail, or e-mails, or both, which would lower your break even point (because you save more). A lot of us have gotten bumped from BN's e-mail list, and the mailed coupons seem iffy, but they're a good bonus if you get them. Even if you don't, the card is still a good deal if you spend over $160 during the year it is active and can use 15% off coupons. I was miffed that I could not get BN to add me to their e-mail list after bumping me, and almost didn't renew, but there's still no better deal than their free shipping + online price + coupon.
YMMV, of course, so see what's the best deal for you.
Hopefully next week will be coupon week again, with Mother's Day coming up.
[By the way, I forgot until just now that I got a $10 gift card from BN last holiday season. Effectively, I got the member card for $15 instead of $25. I know you can't count on this, but it made the member card one of the best deals you can possibly get. We're talking free shipping on orders of any size for a year for $15. The free shipping is subsidized by ads, but that's fine with me. I wish more companies would do that.]

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I could (hopefully) use 1 in-store coupon on Sunday. Much appreciation for any one that might be pm'd.
I'll have to see if the store is willing to sell me a next Tuesday released hardcover a couple days early (which they have sometimes done before). Will be crossing my fingers as I could definitely use over $4 in savings.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I got it thanks. There may be a Mother's Day coupon, and I appreciate the heads-up/advice, but I don't want to wait past Tuesday. I'm very eager to read the book, they won't get many copies, and there seem to be some hardcore readers at the local stores so that "New" often quickly becomes "Used". Better just to buy it sooner.
