Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
How does pick up in store work? Are you placing the order online and picking up in store, like Best Buy, or are they just holding the stuff for you? I won't get to B&N until Saturday, so I was wondering if I could have the stuff I want held for me, and then use a coupon when picking them up.

I wasn't aware they changed that! That sucks. I used to place an order with a $40+ DVD, and a $20+ toy that was just above $50 after both coupons, in order to get the additional $5 off. They really love taking away the member benefits, don't they? I suspect B&N will start closing more B&M stores within the next year. With their recent financial woes, they can't keep this up much longer...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
None of the BNs near me even have Blu-rays anymore. It's order online or nothing for me.

I missed Buzz. He was such a pal.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
It's nice to give credit where credit is due. DVD TALK seems to be the poor relation now to BluRay.com, but even with the almost 2,000 posts about this sale there, they still link to Laser's OP here whenever a coupon question is raised. Long live Laser!

Thanks! DVDTalk has noticeably gone downhill after the end of the holidays from last year. Not sure what happened, but the forum seems to be slowly dying. It's becoming a shadow of its former self. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I noticed B&N has now put the coupon ban online with the Criterion titles. It now has the following disclaimer on the web site when you check the product page for a Criterion title.
Note: This item does not qualify for coupons or promotional discounts unless expressly stated. |

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Grabbed six today.
On Te Waterfront Howard's End Naked Lunch Colonel Blomp Badlands 3:10 To Yuma Used a 5/50 and an 8/40 and member discount All averaged to about $16.70 |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Received an email of the Member Appreciation Days where the in-store discount is 20% rather than the normal 10%. The member discount always applies to the 50% off Criterion sale so hopefully the extra discount applies here too. Effective days at 7/11 to 7/14.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Haha, member appreciation my ass. So there are no members in stores that are not listed?
:/ Basically it should be please come in to these stores because they're probably going to close within the next year. Oh well, hopefully we'll see at least one coupon during the Criterion sale. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Damn, the end really feels nigh with BN.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
What kind of ridiculous stunt is that? :(

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Either give every member the opportunity to get 20% for being a member or don't do it at all.
It's like a teacher bringing in cookies for only the kids in the first row of the class. . . |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I sent customer service an e-mail, but I really don't expect anything. Figures I should at least voice my opinion.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Before the Internet I'm sure they did these discounts all the time and no one ever new about it. Unfortunately the Internet has existed for a while and bn has been extremely slow in adjusting to it. Without tipping their hat, what else do you call this discount? We tipped it for them, much like using their coupons in ways they didn't foresee. Personally I'm waiting for a real coupon to show up. May the force be with you Lazer!

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I just called my store and they aren't doing (and had no idea about) the "Member Appreciation" sale.
My store wasn't on the list, but I just wanted to call and double check. It would have been nice, especially since the B2G1 overlap never happened. *sigh* |

With previous coupons you could but not anymore because of some recent changes. The current $8/40 and $5/$50 are using different codes now and you can only use one at a time. You would have to do two separate orders to use each coupon.

Normally I don't even try the $8/$40 due to past experience in my store, but I figured Shoah is >$40 after the 50% discount and I'm using a brand new trial membership. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Actually, I'm reading the fine print on the current batch of coupons (the ones that expire 8/7/13) and I'm a little confused. They both still seem to have the language that says:
"Except for coupons that are included in this New Member Welcome Bonus Savings Offer, this coupon may not be combined with any other coupon." (Penultimate line of the fine print) Since both of these coupons are from the New Member Welcome Bonus Savings Offer, doesn't that mean they can still be used together in the same transaction? Am I missing something here? |

Your mantra has to be "Give it a roll, have no expectations, enjoy the ride". |

Your logic seems right to me, but logic doesn't apply to B&N coupons & sales. It's a crap shoot interpreted differently at different stores, by different cashiers, on different days.
Your mantra has to be "Give it a roll, have no expectations, enjoy the ride". But I just asked since Laser Movies pointed out that there were some recent changes that precluded stacking these two coupons, which you could do before. But when I re-looked at the fine print, the language seemed to be the same as before. Maybe the changes Laser Movies was referring to was for online only and you can still stack them in store? |
