I guess the only other thing to watch out for when the sale goes live is if a lot of pre-orders might get marked down to 50% off.

In other B&N news, "William Lynch Jr., the chief executive of Barnes & Noble, resigned on Monday, two weeks after a devastating earnings report that accentuated the bookseller’s losing battle against powerful rivals like Amazon.

Mr. Lynch’s departure was part of a series of sweeping changes the company announced..."

Oh, the chain's days are definitely numbered. When the book section is full of toys, and the DVD section is full of iThis & iThat, the writing is on the wall.

I didn't see any signs for new 15% or 20% this week. I would guess the next batch will show up next week.

Then I guess I'll just hang out and wait to see if any coupons surface. If the store sells out the stuff I want before then, so be it.

But is it right to assume that there won't be any non-member online coupons during the Criterion-sale?

There have always been non member coupons in the past as far as I remember. Never in the first week of the sale though.

Can anyone confirm that the 10% in-store member discount is working for the sale? I'm considering renewing my membership. Thanks.

Yup it's working. I just got a new membership and the 10% discount was applied.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

If I sign up for a trial membership, would I be able to use the $8/40 and $5/50 online on the same order?

I would be getting Shoah ($49.99) and another $19.99 Criterion to put me over $50.

That would be awesome, if it is true! But it could be a specific store doing it. I found nothing in a google search...

With previous coupons you could but not anymore because of some recent changes. The current $8/40 and $5/$50 are using different codes now and you can only use one at a time. You would have to do two separate orders to use each coupon.

I see nothing listed here, so if it is true, I doubt it is a national event:

Educator Appreciation Days are always listed here.

Thanks, Laser. So it sounds the $5/50 is better to use in stores, if I'm using it on $19.99 titles since I would also get 10% off each. The B&N near me doesn't have a media section, so I'm just trying to figure out if it would be worth the savings to drive to one that does.

I wasn't aware they changed that! That sucks. I used to place an order with a $40+ DVD, and a $20+ toy that was just above $50 after both coupons, in order to get the additional $5 off. They really love taking away the member benefits, don't they? I suspect B&N will start closing more B&M stores within the next year. With their recent financial woes, they can't keep this up much longer...

They aren't unique coupon codes, so you could use them each once online, and many many times in-store, if you want.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

How does pick up in store work? Are you placing the order online and picking up in store, like Best Buy, or are they just holding the stuff for you? I won't get to B&N until Saturday, so I was wondering if I could have the stuff I want held for me, and then use a coupon when picking them up.
