I was told that the GCs never expire ... unless BN goes out of business.

Anybody have success getting more than one $10 card from online GC/e-GC purchases? I'm assuming it was 1 per account, but since it's not that hard opening new accounts.

If you have the receipt they can re-issue you the GC as long as it has not been used. I think I read that on the GC or something I got with the GC.

I'm amazed in the age of the internet that companies continue to spurn their loyal customers and try to "woo" others. You'd think they learn from AOL.

Anyway, I didn't take very good advantage of the last sale. I have a $10 GC to use before Jan 2 (when I cancel my temporary membership). Hopefully something will turn up.

Curious what you mean by this, LM. Still no nookbook coupons or anything similar (save on new hardware).

BN perceives that if they don't establish themselves as a first-tier player in the digital domain, their days may be numbered. They may be right about this. Hence the push for Nook.

The business model for Amazon has them making money by providing content for their Kindle. I still can't figure out the model for B&N.

Haven't heard anything yet. Maybe later next week, or if not I would assume definitely the following week for some new coupons.

I wasn't referring to coupons for Nooks since they are rare. Occasionally I run across a few Nook coupons but they are not usually generic for anyone to use. More or less it's about the push of their e-readers and books. It still has a way to go to surpass physical media and books, but it continues to show growth, while the retail segment is losing money (see press release and investors annual report below). Their growth areas seem like they are with the Nook and College bookstore sales.

I'm having a hard time just getting the one $10 eGift card code that's due me. I've chatted with B&N reps on three separate occasions and the best they can do is re-request my $10 eGift card code be emailed to me.

Is anyone else still waiting for their $10 code that was supposed to arrive on December 26?

I am having the same problem, today i contacted customer care for the second time and i am waiting for reply, their egift card system never works properly (found on other forums this has happened before), i also took advantage of the promotion with two more accounts with different addresses and didn't receive anything too.

I read somewhere else that when everything fails, they offer to send you a physical gift card, more hassle but at least they end up honoring their promotion.

I'm bummed because for a week since the eGift card should have been in my possession, Mad Men s5 Blu was $24.99. Since this season set has yet to be found for $10-15 as was done with all previous seasons during the holidays, I would have been fine using my $10 promo credit on this $25 set. Well the sale on this has come and gone and I still haven't received my promo credit.

Assuming that e-gift cards don't expire (by law they can't expired in Connecticut) I don't see how that matters unless you don't plan on buying anything from B&N this year. Otherwise, it really doesn't matter much what you apply the gift card to (or when) as it will work much like cash. Now, if you're going to tell me that your petty cash is drawing interest and the gift card isn't, my response is: not much.

Anyone know from personal experience over the last couple of b2g1 sales
if coupon usage is allowed on one of the titles in store? Or is it a YMMV
situation. Thanks in advance for any info/insight.

I've used coupons successfully in stores during the last couple of B2G1 sales but haven't tried it this year. As I recall, there were percent off coupons last time but all we have this time are the member coupons.

I used to never have problems with it, but the last B2G1 sale it became YMMV for me even with clerks I knew who always accepted the coupons in prior B2G1 sales.

Anyone find any bargains. What I have seen from the pricing is pitiful. Even if you buy 2 get 1 most of the prices divide out higher than Amazon.

I didn't find any movie bargains but I did place a B2G1 order of 3 CD sets that turned into a B1G1 when they cancelled the highest priced item.

Quick coupon update. Looks like the coupon drought is finally over. There are some new member and non-member coming later in the week. B&N is back to the usual 20% and 15% coupons again. Also if you have a membership some 20% coupons might be showing up in the mail within the next few weeks that are valid until the end of February.

Excellent! I've been checking for a 20% coupon every day since the 30% coupon expired.

Yes! However I don't know if they are going to be generic or unique generated codes.

Here is the information for the member coupon, essentially it's the same for non-members.

http://cart2.barnesandnoble.com/shop...&promoid=10960

20% Off One Item Coupon Details:

For each valid and current Barnes & Noble Member account, this coupon can be redeemed once at any Barnes & Noble retail store or once per billing address online at BN.com.

This coupon is valid at BN.com from January 17, 2013 at 12:01am to January 22, 2013 at 2:59am Eastern Time, and at Barnes & Noble stores from January 17, 2013 to January 21, 2013 at close of business.

The additional 20% discount will be applied to the most expensive eligible item in the order - not the entire purchase - and will be deducted after all other eligible discounts, including (if applicable) the standard Member discount, are applied.

Additional Rules Governing Use of this Coupon: This coupon is (i) not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards and eGift Cards); (ii) not valid on past purchases; (iii) not eligible for purchases of the following products and services: Barnes & Noble Memberships, Gift Cards, eGift Cards, gift-wrapping, textbooks, digital content (including but not limited to NOOK Books(TM), NOOK Magazines(TM), NOOK Newspapers, and NOOK Periodicals), NOOK ® devices, NOOK accessories that are already discounted, other hardware and electronics, software, products available for pre-order, products from the Rosetta Stone Series, in-store purchases of Print Magazines, or products marked as not eligible for "coupons or promotional discounts," (iv) not valid on purchases made from third parties accessible from the BN.COM website (e.g., used books, etc.); (v) not valid on applicable sales tax or shipping or handling expenses; (vi) may not be combined with any other coupon or promotional discount; and (vii) may not be combined with the Educator program discount. This coupon is not valid at Barnes & Noble College bookstores or websites. Barnes&Noble.com is not responsible for typographical or pictorial errors.

This offer is subject to change or discontinuation without notice; we will, however, honor properly placed orders with valid methods of payment with sufficient funds placed prior to such change or discontinuation. Void where prohibited by law.

I discovered they already have the coupons up. Looks like unique codes that will require receiving emails directly from B&N. Also found a couple of other coupons that may or may not be of any use below.

How does a non-member get coupons in their email? Also, are the in-store prices for B&N generally the same as online? There's a book I'm looking to get and it has a good price, but I see it says 'Online Price' so I didn't know if they might have a different price in-store.

Often, they're not the same price. The in-store price is usually the list price and thus higher than the online price. But you can double check this by entering the zip code of the store into the "pick up in store" box and then clicking the "pick me up" button. That will display the in-store price. However, I'm not sure if any in-store sales that may be going on (ie. a 10% off sticker on a DVD box set) are reflected in that price.

Also, the physical stores will not price match the online site.

Unfortunately there is not a simple answer to this question. If you already have a B&N account and are not receiving coupons there is no way to sign up for them on the web site. B&N either removed or deactivated the sign up pages a while back. You can try calling customer service but there is no guarantee they will help, and most likely it would take several calls if even they do help. Making matters worse the geniuses at B&N decided to create a system with single use disposable coupon codes that can only be used once, and require receiving a special email from them for a valid coupon that can be used either online or at a B&N store. Sadly with this system they have alienated many customers in the process because they are not receiving the emails, or can easily sign up for them.

That doesn't work. When you click the Pick Me Up button the price displayed is always the list price even if the item is on sale in the stores. The only way to find the real store price is to call or go.

Agreed. I realize that B&N is not in an easy business ... but when they stub their toes on the most basic of things like e-mail lists, you have to wonder who's minding the store.

Like E v i l said, B&N won't price match their website price and their in-store price is usually the MSRP version and not the online price, so there's a heads-up for you.
