I could have sworn I also read in the eligibility requirements that it was specific to the email address the survey is sent to, but it sure doesn't seem to be.

I wonder if the survey is related to this Nook offer I ran across. Looks like a few people may get a coupon good for a free wifi Nook.

well I just checked and it doesn't seem that I can use the 15% from the survey since I already used the same 15% off code on the order that prompted the survey. oh well. maybe the code will work from 2/16- 2/20? Hope some new ones show up before then though.
So I guess the $5 off one DVD is now gone for good?

I now see I may actually have a use for the 7% off now since anything over that brings the price under the free shipping $25 threshold (on An Affair To Remember Bd). 50% should be enough incentive to order it, but I'm not sure I want it enough after all.

Just so everybody knows, the survey was fairly long (about 10 minutes).

Edit: Yep, looks like B&N voided all of my remaining Groupons (10-12 in all). I guess I will call them.

I purchased most of mine using one Groupon account too and for now they seem to be valid.

Just an FYI on Black Swan DVD and BD releases: it's been screwed up in their system even before the Groupon explosion.

They have coded in their system as a "Special Order" and not a pre-order (Fox still has sent the release date to retailers), that's also why coupons work on it, whereas pre-orders generally don't qualify for BN coupons.

When it gets sent the warehouse it's being flagged as never being released or unobtainable, therefore they won't fulfill the "Special Order" and cancel it outright.

Strange, as Black Swan has been the exact opposite for me. I ordered it on Sunday Night (HST) and canceled later that night because I wanted to buy something else. Anyway over the last 2 days I've called and tried to cancel. Those two times they've told me that a cancelation confirmation would be coming within 24-48 hours. I've gotten no such thing.

Today I call and the CSR explained that what they did was make a request for a cancelation but the system has a right not to cancel the item. So I basically asked him--there's a chance that I could get the item if the system doesn't allow the item (Black Swan) to be canceled and he said yes.

Oh well getting Black Swan on BD isn't the worst thing.

Two bits of good news for me: the audited order from last night has been cleared and will ship. I received Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind from USPS. Usually, with dhl/usps smart mail that thing would take like a month to come. I did a ship to home and it arrived in a week so I'm happy about that.

How many GC's did you use on that order? Maybe there is hope for the rest of us...

Three. At least that is if what the CSR is telling me is accurate.

That was my first purchase with groupons - to get the free shipping on all subsequent 1-2 groupon orders.

From the same or different Groupon account/s?

I think 2 were from the same account and 1 was different although I really don't remember.

Tried to sneak a 3rd order by them last night while my 2nd was held up in product review, but they snagged it. This is going to get pretty annoying.

Has anyone who's order is being held gotten any resolution yet? Or at the very least an email telling them what's going on w/their order besides the fact it is being reviewed?

kenbenobi 02-10-11 07:53 AM

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Someone said their order was released from security review, and it shipped. I did not get my released yet. I just received 4 emails stating each of the items in my order is delayed. I did, however, please an order with a Groupon AFTER they flagged an order (using the same account), and that new order has shipped. I think you are just unlucky...

I know people are discussing other things now, but I just thought I'd do a quick check... has anyone else (besides a couple people back in late January) had their Star Wars Complete Saga BD preorder @ 50% off canceled or have those orders remained intact so far?

Since they never took my email address, I assume I would never know they canceled mine unless I see a refund on my credit card (which I haven't yet). I've been thinking about calling the local store to check status, but I'd rather not as I doubt it would help... No news is good news?

My order is still pending and I was assured over the phone that it would not cancel. I did give an email address and the only email I've received is the initial one that the item is on order for me. When I check online status at BN.com, the order isn't shown.

When I called, I was transferred to a specialist who deals with ship-to-home orders placed from a physical store. I explained I was concerned that after 30 days from order submission, I would miss getting an email giving me the option to continue with the order and not cancel it. The specialist was aware of this feature on the B&N website and stated that's not how the ship-to-home orders operate. They stated I likely would not receive any email until the product actually ships.

Since we've got another seven months before this releases, I'll probably call and check on the order from time to time, or I can check the gift card balance that I used to pay for the entire order. If something changes, I'll be sure and bring it up in this thread.

Tried to use two unused 20.00$ groupons today and they were voided out. Anybody else who has had this happen who should I contact about a reimbursement?

Contact [email protected] and threaten to do a chargeback if they don't respond. I think they are working on the refunds but their communication leaves a bit to be desired. I emailed twice. Yesterday's email was ignored. Today I emailed again and mentioned my credit card company, and Groupon responded right away. Here is the relevant portion of their form response:

"Thanks for your interest in the Barnes & Noble Groupon.

According to our records, you were able to order more than the allotted limit by purchasing this Groupon in multiple cities. Because of our contract with this business stipulating "One Per Person", we have canceled your extra Groupons and you will be refunded the amount back to your original form of payment. Once this has processed, you will have left your initial Barnes & Noble purchase in your account, the valid Groupon ends in -0-1."

I'm disappointed that they canceled these without notice, but assuming these refunds go through without a hitch, I will have made out pretty well since I collected ton of Discover cashback (20% on each Groupon plus 12% on each purchase, including the amounts covered by Groupons - over $100 in all).

How do you guys know the Groupons have been voided? I have a handful I haven't used, and when I check their balances on the BN website, it shows they have the full amount. Does using them in a purchase trigger them to be voided or something?

I only purchased one Groupon coupon and have yet to use it. Is it people's experience that ANY coupon used now will be voided? Or, is this only happening to people who used more than one?

I have been using 1 groupon per BN account. Between the Groupon GC, reusing the best BN coupon codes, and some misc Paypal funds I have... I've not had a problem, everything has shipped.

Received most of my orders as of today. Amelie blu-ray is only item still scheduled to ship (2-25). So far no cancellations or blow back on anything.

I have a few more GC's left that I am going to gamble with. My plan is to use them on some yet to be released Criterion blu-rays (or cherry pick sale titles).

From posts I read it appeared they were voided before they could be used. It seems purchasing multiple Groupons with an account and using 2 or more per order is triggering the problems.

As long as you use it before the expiration date I doubt you'll have a problem with only one Groupon.

This doesn't look like too bad a deal for Bambi on blu-ray if you use this coupon that takes $10 off the price. Currently it's $22.79 before the coupon.

I used my one Groupon coupon to get The African Queen blu-ray and Bambi blu-ray (using above $10 off promo code) for $20 total ($10 for original coupon + $10 left over after $20 coupon applied to order).

This is frickin' asinine. I have two $20 Groupons left, and one with $2 remaining. This blows my whole strategy for getting the two pre-orders I want using Groupons.

Does anyone know if you can just take them to a store and buy a GC, or will they get voided at POS?
