Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Weird part for me is I place a ship to home order on Friday and only get a your order #xxxxx has been received email confirmation.
I place another ship to home order on Saturday and get both an order confirmation and a scheduled to ship confirmation. For some reason one of these orders (the Friday one) was on a different email account than my Saturday order which was connected to my member account email. I think I'll call them today. Thanks for providing the number kenbenobi. |

Really? In store today they had stacks of these plastered with 50% stickers, which would make it $33.75 for members. How much was it online last week?

I used the 50% coupon successfully in several NYC stores. However, while I was browsing books at the Greenwich Village store, I heard one employee (a manager?) stationed at Information tell another employee that he just found out that someone had posted the 50% off coupon online and that people were printing it out and using it on high-ticket items (he specifically mentioned the Star Wars Blu-Ray pre-order and the Calvin & Hobbes book). He said a guy had just tried to use the coupon and that he had shot him down. He then said something like, "If someone tries to use the 50% coupon, write down their member number. There aren't supposed to be a lot of them out so pretty much if someone has one they're not supposed to." At that point I just put down the books I was looking at and walked out of the store.

OK, I was told they were $150 in-store when I called. Guess the clerk wasn't aware of the sale. :grunt:

They were going to give me the $75 sale price because one copy still had the 50% sticker but I decided against getting it with the coupon after reading numerous complaints of pages falling out. I took a look at the book and the way it's put together with just glue is pretty shabby so I can see it happening.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Tried to get the Star Wars Complete Saga ship to home w/the coupon. They gave me a hard time b/c it was in their system with a release date of 2025 and there were obviously none listed in the vendor warehouse. Then they told me if it was not ready to ship w/in 30 days it would just get canceled anyway (Is this true?). But, I finally asked them to give it a shot and when the cashier scanned the coupon a message came up saying it would not apply b/c there was already a discount (to $90) applied to the item.
I didn't bother asking for them to manually input the coupon and happily got the Von Sternberg Criterion set ship to home for 50% off (and used a $25GC to bring the total down to $14.18). |

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I think the last time I had to extend an order I clicked on something near the "quantity" or "shipping status." Ok just checked and it's actually "I want to order this" which needs to be clicked. The bad news is that I have no idea whether or not they will send you an email. So you might have to check on the order status periodically maybe even daily.

YW. I have a baaaad feeling many of us will be needing to call that number... That's the one danger of Ship to Home orders on pre-orders--B&N.com loves to cancel items.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
picked up 3 of the Roger Corman cult classics dvds for $12 a piece after tax. Not the best deal but I guess it's as low as I'm going to find them right now. The prices were so jacked up it made it sort of difficult to get a great deal on dvds even with the coupon and buy 2 get 1. 50% became more handy for books for me.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Since I drove to B&N yesterday and spent more time than it should've taken with a less-than-helpful cashier, B&N had better not cancel my Star Wars Saga BD preorder. If they do I'll be calling them up to complain, though if they are like most companies I expect they'll be unsympathetic and do nothing. If they cancel on me, at minimum I should receive at least $10 ($20 would be more appropriate) to compensate me for my gas and time. The fact they charge my credit card now for this (at least it appeared that way) also seems uncool as it sounds like I'll never get it.
The employee never even asked for my email address... just my phone number, so I wonder if B&N will even bother to call me to tell me they're going to cancel? Knowing that this was likely to be canceled was a very valuable piece of information I would've liked to know yesterday before I went as that would've changed my mind. Too bad I only see it posted after the fact. I'll probably never bother with a future B&N store deal if they cancel on me. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I hope you guys get it, but that BD pre-order smelled to me like something that would be canceled, so i just bought something at the store.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
First trip to Barnes & Noble I bought a membership in-store which was activated right away. I saved an additional 10% on each item. Then I used both 50% off coupons, one member one (#101311) and one non-member one (#501691) which stacked on top of the "B2G1 free" promotion. The guy's face lit up when he rang up my order. He pointed out the savings and I was like :) The membership already had paid for itself. "Member Savings $25.85. This was in the Millbury, MA Barnes & Noble.
When I got home I told myself deals like these don't happen too often so I made a second trip to a different Barnes & Noble in Worcester, MA. Used a 50% non-member coupon and the 50% member coupon again successfully which stacked on top of the "B2G1 free" promotion they were having on movies, plus my 10% member discount. A trifecta of awesomeness. Total membership savings today: $51.31. I picked up some Criterion Blu-rays and some other movies. First trip: • Days of Heaven [Blu-ray] • Se7en [Blu-ray] • Beautiful Mind, A [Blu-ray] Total came out to $31.93 plus 6.250% sales tax ($2.00), plus the $25 membership fee so $58.93. Membership savings $25.46. Second trip: • Bug's Life, A [Blu-ray] • Army of Shadows [Blu-ray] • Social Network, The [Blu-ray] Total came out to $32.38 plus 6.250% sales tax ($2.02) so $34.40. Membership savings $25.85. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I'm not saying it will LIKELY be canceled, but seeing as two of us have seen Ship to Home pre-orders get canceled so far (of which only one was Star Wars), it's a possibility. Personally, I'm not worried about it right now, unless we start to see massive cancellations. But 30 days from when I ordered it, I will begin checking the order status ever day, ready to click that "extend" button.
I should also note that the last time I had a ship to home order canceled, I went to my local store, and they re-placed the order for me for LESS than my original price to make up for the inconvenience. Also, now that we have a toll-free number direct to the Ship to Home department, they may also be able to rectify any problems that may occur. |

You got that right... It may be a looong time before B&N gives us a fantastic deal like this again. But your membership did indeed pay for itself already. Congrats on your bargains, and welcome to the forum!
I do hope that if B&N cancels my order they will reinstate it by calling that special number. I'm a bit worried as the employee didn't enter my email address. I will boycott B&N if they cancel it and don't reinstate it or do something to make up for it. So apparently this is a very rare good deal, but the lone employee in movies at my store was determined to make sure I could only use 1 coupon on 1 item. I couldn't find anything worthwhile in their small selection to do a B2G1F. |

I said does the computer enforce that, and she said "no, I do". I'm always amazed at how some employees take it on themselves to be enforcers of rules beyond what their computer has. It was bad enough that she grilled me when and where I got the 50% off coupon and what made me think it was 50% off because I couldn't possibly know, so I used the friend excuse saying he told me he used the same code and got 50%. She said they usually only send out 1 coupon via email and you don't know how much it'll be until you use it. Since she made such a big deal about a person only getting 1 coupon code via email, I figured I'd better not whip out the 30% off coupon to use on something else because she'd probably call the cops. So I didn't buy anything else. It was a thoroughly unpleasant experience.
