Yep, I had them try Black Swan and The King's Speech and it wouldn't let them order either.

I think the way you can tell if they can order it is like this: If you add the item to your cart at bn.com and it's marked "special order: ships 3-5 weeks" then it's not in their system. If it says "not yet released" I think it will work. I'm not certain, but it seems logical based on the ones I've tried.

I think you're on to something. True Grit also has the "special order" tag and I wasn't able to order that either. Nice detective work jiggy!

Exactly. I just did the same. I bought one in store and 2 ship to home. I also used the 50% off, the $5 off DVD, and the $5 off a $50 purchase. It really pays to get friendly with the staff. One of the ship to home items I ordered wasn't available as part of the B2G1 online but the employee let me have it anyway.

I ran out of time and didn't get the chance to list my purchases on this trip. Here they are; I hope they help someone.

In store, I bought the Bourne Trilogy BD which was priced at $63, the same as the online price. After member discount and the 50% off coupon it was 28.35. I then ordered via ship to home Criterion's Broadcast News BD which was only 27.99 online. I'm glad they didn't have it in the store. For the free title, I got Santa Sangre BD which was around $27. As I mentioned, I used the $5 off DVD coupon and the $5 off $50 coupon for a total of 46.xx plus tax.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I tried to use all 4 coupons (two 50% w/ different codes, one $5 off 20 and one $5 off 50) but was allowed to use only one of the 50% off coupons with the two $5 off. I ended up using only 2 coupons since my purchase total fell below the $50 threshold.

I got the following:

The Social Network (msrp $34.99)
$34.99 - 30% off promo - 10% off member - $5 off 20 = $17.04

The Bridge On the River Kwai - Collector's Edition (msrp $34.99)
free title (B2G1 promo)

Life - narrated by David Attenborough (msrp $69.99)
$69.99 - 30% off promo - 10% off member - 50% off coupon = $22.04

Subtotal = $39.08 + $3.42 tax = $42.50 total

I used my B&N credit card, so that's going to be another 5% cashback. My final cost would be $40.37.

Great freaking deal imho.

The guy ahead of me in line at the movie counter tonight tried to order Black Swan but he wasn't able to. He was told it was because there was no release date for it.

It's the same price in-store as well. It's marked $69.99, but has a 10% off sticker.

The 10% stickers are on everything all over the store - they say "for members" below the discount - i.e. it just denotes the member discount, not a sale price.

No, they're on specific items and the discount is for all customers. There are stickers ranging from 10-50% off. As a member you'll get an extra 10% off on top of this discount.

They're ALL Buy 2, Get 1 Free. And yes, most of them are marked.

Thanks. To summarize, Star Wars Complete Saga BD is something that is in their system for preorder ship-to-home because others have done it, so my worst case scenario (as a non-member) if I go to the store today is I should be able to preorder it via ship-to-home with the 50% off coupon (501691) for $49.99 + tax (no shipping charge)? Is there any reason they could deny me on that simple preorder?

If I get lucky and can add in anything else with other coupons, that'll be a bonus, but since my nearest B&N store is almost a 10 mile round trip, I don't want to go there unless I'm 100% certain I can at least get the above deal.

I've been able to use both the member and non-member 50% coupons on the same order twice (with two different clerks). I just got Pinocchio BD, 3-Disc Wall-E BD, and Snow White BD for just under $35. Thanks to Lasermovies and everyone else who has helped!

Whew. Well, once again trying to navigate B&N's coupons/sales/discounts/etc. have made me wish I paid more attention in Miss Linsky's 6th grade math class. Anyway, went to the store last night and picked up:

HUMPHREY BOGART SIGNATURE COLLECTION VOL. 2 (long OOP!): $20.00.

And my brother picked up:

THE SEVEN SAMURAI
(Blu/Criterion): $15.00

10% sticker/10% member/50% coupon/$5 coupon

That should work for the 50% off and other discounts listed.

Yes, I have seen evidence of a 50% online coupon for all customers, but doubt it is going materialize at this point. Looks like B&N didn't release it to the general public since no one has posted it on the internet anywhere to my knowledge. There are also probably a few 50% online email linked coupons around, but you cannot share the codes. They only work with the email address of the recipient of the coupon. However it appears the coupon B&N sent you doesn't even work with your address/account.

I went to pre-order Star Wars OT BD, but it wasn't in their system yet, so I was forced to pre-order the Complete Saga BD, as this was in the system and available for pre-order. Now I will be stuck with those dreadful prequel movies. :gah:

Maybe I can sell it once it's out and a better deal emerges on the OT.

Thanks for these coupons! My local B&N doesn't have a good DVD selection, so I just bought some books. I printed out three 50% off coupons, brought two other family members to the store with me, and we walked out with three of the B&N Leatherbound collections for half price each. I'm happy.

All coupons are on the first page of this thread, in the very first post. You may need to click on "SHOW" to unhide them. That is a member coupon, so you it's listed under that section...

Technically speaking, you can use any coupon in combination with the B2G1F deal. Whether or not you can use multiple coupons on the same purchase is YMMV. The majority of us haven't had any problems, but some people have.

kenbenobi 01-29-11 03:12 PM

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I used the coupon 3 more times today. I used two at once on another B2G1F transaction (got the same cashier as last night, which was nice--I've now does this 4 times, two times at two different stores (on different days), but got the same cashier both times at each store).

Then I tried to get two flash drives at the front registers. This is the first time I have attempted to use two coupons outside of the media department. There were two cashiers working, and one looked really mean. I prayed I wasn't going to get her, but sure enough, I did. And just like I figured, she gave me trouble using two coupons, even though she could ring them up on separate transactions. She said "you can only use one of the coupons since they are the same." I said, "They're actually different coupons." She said, "no, they're the same." I said "no, they're definitely different." She said "they're exactly the same." I said, "no, one is a member coupon, and the other is not." She was silent for at least 10 seconds, before saying "fine, you can use them both, but you can't use your membership card with the non-member coupon." I stared at her in disbelief. I didn't feel like arguing anymore, so I told her I didn't want one of the items. I'll go back tomorrow for it, and hopefully she won't be there. I've used the coupon 12 times now, and have at least 3 more uses planned.
Today's purchase (all $34.99 titles):
Se7en BD
Piranha (2010) BD
My Boys S2/S3
Final Price: $33.25

FYI, the flash drives were Star Wars 2GB USB Flash Drives. $19.95 before coupon, came to under $9 after coupon and membership. They had Vader, Yoda, Boba Fett, and Stormtrooper at my store...

Keep in mind that 39.99 titles are actually $35.99, since they get an additional 10% off, so you may not want to limit yourself to 34.99 titles...
