Geez, I'm tempted to try to return my opened '06 Pink Panther Cartoon set to Costco, and buy the new one with the money. It costs the same! I've never tried to return open DVDs, though. I thought I'd read that they'll take them. Hmmm...

Just picked up "The Fly Collection" at my Costco last night for $16.99. I hadn't seen this there before, so thought I'd mention it. Fun little set of the original three "The Fly" movies and a bonus disc of extras.

I saw it but passed because "Dances With Wolves" is the FF version.

I'm not sure if these have been posted yet, but these seemed like some pretty good box set deals at Costco yesterday:

Matrix Ultimate Collection (DVD) - $23.99
Rio Bravo & The Searchers Ultimate Editions set - $23.99 (both Ultimate Editions come together for that price in a classy-looking John Wayne box)

DISCLAIMER: Prices might be off by a dollar or two. I didn't write it down.

Totally worth it for the Matrix.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Sort of off topic, but what is the difference quality wise between the el cheapo Matrix 4 movies on 2 DVDs (front and back) and the Ultimate Collection pack?

I bought the 4 movie on 2 disc cheap bundle for $9.99 and wondering if it would be at all worth it to double dip..... $23.99 seems like a great deal.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I don't know about the video quality but surely it's better than having 4 movies crammed on two discs. Plus you get five discs of extras.

only thing different is if you want the special features and the fancy box. The discs are dual sided DVD-9's (dual layer on each side, ) and contains the exact same thing as what is included in the big 10 disc ultimate set except for special features discs. If you just want the movie the $9.99 is the same experience as the ultimate brings, if you want the extras then by all means go with the Ultimate version.

The transfers and picture quality aren't different?

of course not, that would be much more trouble than it's worth to them. They just slapped the same transfers onto 2 dual sided discs instead of 4 single sided discs and pack with tons of extras. PQ/AQ is exactly the same down to the tiniest detail. The discs have the same files structure and size on the flippers as the ultimate edition when compared on a pc to show.

More movie triple packs... :)

All $10

Don't waste your time Joey - those subjects get talked about in this thread anyway. A mod will just take your new thread and merge it into this one.

Besides, this is DVD bargains - not hardware :)

Buyer beware, as these Triple Plays seem to have a full screen mixed in wherever two versions exist. I bought the Romantic Comedy 3-Pack and discovered that Alex & Emma and The In-Laws were both full screen, and I bought the Crime 3-Pack and discovered that City By The Sea was full screen. Back they go!

I picked up the last copy of The Pink Panther Cartoon Collection as well as Chariots of Fire and Giant.

I was tempted to pick up the How the West Was Won set and the John Wayne set, but figured that if they're there next time I go, I'll get them. If not, no big deal.

No time limit on DVDs. Hell, they'll even give you a refund on opened DVDs if you claim that they're defective.
