Walmart is have the HD-A2 hd-dvd player for $98 starting tomorrow. The upcoming DD sale would be a perfect opportunity for new HD DVD owners to stock up on their favourite titles.

Either way, youre better off ordering online with the free shipping cuz we're getting hit with sales tax in IL either way.

You can 'test' this out with some of the current deals at the moment - just do a 'dummy' order without fully submitting it. Example - order from current Anchor Bay Sale - B2G1F
3 items in order - 6.02 / 6.02 / 17.92
total amount = 29.96
total amount less 1 item for free (less 6.02) when applied = 23.94
*** International shipping rates - up to $25.00 =$5.95 / 25.01- 50.00 =$8.95
DD ORDER TOTALS
Why Pay? $46.93
Promotional Discount: -$6.02
Total Savings: $22.99
Shipping: $8.95
Your Subtotal: $32.89
You can see that the Shipping has taken the TOTAL AMOUNT PRE DISCOUNT to work out the rate.
DD determine the shipping price based on the TOTAL price/s before discount.

..... HOWEVER - I do believe that they DD have simply changed their processing rules/rates following the release of their new site a while ago.
Getting them to change the way in which they process / charge shipping rates (international) isnt exactly an easy fix. I'm believing that it was deliberately change (its actually made me 'rethink' a few offers - especially the B2G1F offers - and how those 'free' items get included in the determination of postage charges).

A poster on the Turner Classic Movies message board said that the sale is going to start Friday November 9th, but he wasn't sure how long it was going to last. Not sure where he got the info, though...

Thanks for the suggestions and the compliments, everyone!
As some of you may know, I own a store that deals in previously viewed DVD's. I just acquired a large collection from another store that dealt in previously viewed titles, and I'm busy organizing and prepping almost 600 new titles for sale. So please be patient with me, as I don't have a lot of time to monitor this thread and update the FAQ.

Do we know if books will be included since the expansion of DD to include them as well? I can't remember if that happened before the last sale or not.

There was a bug that allowed the 20% code to work on books and CDs for a few hours last sale. However, there were books and CDs that were discounted to around the prices they would be with the 20% code, even if they weren't eligible.

Why is it do you think that DVD's are constantly going on sale and getting price reductions from the studios, but CD's hardly ever do? I've never seen a store-wide sale on CD's except for going-out-of-business sales. With DVD box sets, if the price is really high I just wait and eventually they get reduced or else they find their way into some 20% Off or B2G1F deal. That happens for every single DVD without fail. But there are CD box sets that have literally been on my want list for 10 years that I've never seen anywhere on sale or ever dropped a dime in price since their initial release. You'd think with the diminished profits the record companies are seeing that they'd be trying to increase CD sales more by promoting more price reductions and big sales. The more DVD sales plateau the more great deals seem to abound, but it works just the opposite for CD's.

Ah, one of my favorite times of the year. Especially upon reading the threads seeing DVDTalkers push a certain movie or two and then buckling and buying said movies.

Just keeping notes on particular DVDs and whether the prices will change when the sale goes on.
UPDATE: These prices did NOT change. I can't guarantee prices didn't change on other titles, but I think these were some popular titles certain to be on the lists of a few people. So, kudos to DeepDiscount.

I thought you were posting your purchases to show us your discount!!
Anyway does anybody know if it is possible that Deep Discount will scrap the 20% off sale completley?
Like what happens if they didn't have it???
Is that possible?
Or is it a certainty?
Thanks.

Well, I have to say, if you've been watching their sales over the last 3 months, such as the B1G1 or B2G1 sales, it averages out better than a 20% sale.
I'd just bookmark this thread. It should happen very soon. If not, call me Daft DVD Polizei.
