I have the 1st and the 2nd version box set, so I probably will not pre-order the new version.

I think they should include all Kubrick's films (The Killing, Paths of Glory, etc.) in one box set, if they do, I'll jump in.

The Killing, Killer's Kiss, and Paths of Glory are owned by MGM. Spartacus is owned by Universal, and Dr. Strangelove is owned by Sony. So I don't see how they'd be included in a Warner Bros. box set

It would be nice, but they're not owned by Warners. IIRC, Killer's Kiss, The Killing, and Paths of Glory are all MGM, Spartacus is Universal, Dr. Strangelove is Sony/Columbia, and Lolita, Barry Lyndon, The Shining, 2001, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut belong to Warner Bros. Fear and Desire, along with his short films are without distribution. You could always compile a complete box set yourself. It would be nice to have a uniform cover design for all the films.

cheers,

I noticed that Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures has it own page. I though this would only be available in the boxed set.

I know there was a reason why I don't have any of the titles yet

A heads-up to those of you in the Pacific Northwest: the Northwest Film Center in Portland will be holding a Kubrick retrospective over the next few weeks (starting TONIGHT), with showings of several of his best works. For complete info, see NFC Kubrick retrospective.

If there was ONE title that cries out for a steelbook release it is Full Metal Jacket.

I just pre-ordered this through the Warner site using the discount code for 25% off and I ended up paying $45 for it.
Of course, in order to get that price I had to pre-order someting else, at a good price as well, to make that $50 free shipping mark.

So yea. I would say that is the way to go.

Just preordered this from DVD Empire using their $12 off $60 coupon (code: 1372720), got it for $51.78 shipped ($60.79 - $12.00 = $48.79 + $2.99 S&H = $51.78). Not a bad deal.

Is the box set coming out in High Def? I've only seen the individual titles listed.

Do you remember the code for the 25% off?

For whatever reason, the set does not appear to be coming out in Hi-Def. I'm confused by this too.

I ordered them all in HD DVD individually from the Warner site. You can also get the Life in Pics doc separately but only SD. My CC is showing the charge so hopefully they are shipping soon. I agree it's weird no HD or BR box. Probably would have been a substantial discount. DVDBeaver has comparisons up for 2001 and Shining. Want me some widescreen Shining.

Why no Barry Lyndon HD? I hate to buy it (again) on SD just to have it announced for HD later. Same with Life in Pictures doc.

Just picked it up from FamilyVideo for 41.96 with $5 off coupon NEWMEM5F.
That's the cheapest I believe, even without the coupon.

Any B&M's beat this? The only ad that had any info on this set that I saw was BB.

No, it's exclusive to the box, stupidly.

PS: thanks BenH! I'm all over that price!

I highly doubt any B&M's will beat familyvideos price. It's even cheaper than DD + 20% sale (in November).
