Mine arrived today!
The return address on the package was from Waxworks* Videoworks. It was definitely from the second link because I used my mother's name and address who's an actual legit teacher.

Mine came today too. I guess that I fooled them by using my dorm address. Is this the same packaging that it is sold in at retail? I notice that the cardboard sleeve is marked "This package is made from 100% post-consumer recycled material" , the country of manufacture sticker states "Made in Mexico, corn based label", and the sticker on the front says "This label is made from natural products 100% compostable." If only they could have made the DVD itself out of compostable recycled material.

Got mine yesterday as well. I'm a first-year teacher, so I never get anything cool in my teacher mailbox. Usually it's just athletic schedule, and other things that I barely ever look at.
When I went to sign out for the day, I peered in my inbox and noticed a thin package. The dvd was the first thing to come to mind (and because I knew the packaging for the dvd was eco-friendly).
I was glad to see that it was.
Thanks again, Chad!

No way in the world would I show this piece of propaganda to my classes without opposing views.
If you show this in science class you might also want make a cross-curriculum connection to social studies and history classes by reminding them this is presented by the same man who invented the Internet!
You could make an English class connection by looking up the word hippocrate.

(an acceptable stance in my opinion, since I can't make claims to the content of the film--I haven't seen it)
However:
The "invented the internet" is taken out of context--go look up the origin of that claim. It's not what he said, and it's ridiculous that it's still being perpetuated.
And if you look up "hippocrate" you'll be sorely disappointed.
Unless, of course, you are in the business of mailing large, deadly mammals with big mouths and fat bodies.
(and I fail to see the relevance of *hypocrisy* in any case--unless you mean he's running around causing the earth to warm without a care in the world)
ANYWAY, to return to the point of the thread (again)--
Are all the teachers who applied getting it?
My sister is a teacher and might be interested in getting it. May as well pass it on if all of you lot are getting them!

Read an interesting article about Al Gore in Time magazine. His mansion/ranch (forgot where it is) used as much electricity in one month as an average US household does in one whole year! Anyway....back on topic

You mean this one?
"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."
What specific "initiatives" did he take in "creating the Internet"? Most of the parts of the Internet already existed before Gore was even in politics.
Sounds like typical Gore trying to take credit for something he had little to do with.
Hey, whats a little typo among friends!!! Using your definition I must have been thinking of Gore's buddy Rosie O'Donnell.
Relevance of *hypocrisy* as in ...
---Us peons
ride bikes
hang laundry outside to dry
keep yout house colder in winter, warmer in summer
take cold showers!!!
---Al Gore
Personal electric bill 20 times the national average.
Ignored a request to take a “personal energy ethics pledge” to consume no more energy than the average American household.
Uses “green energy” — electricity produced by things such as methane gas. The power produced with methane needs to be co-fired with coal, which produces carbon dioxide.
Buys "carbon offsets"- from a company he owns!!!
Al's "bike"= Cadillac Escalade

In the sense likely intended, one can take initiative in a pre-existing event and help it along, as opposed to taking the initiative and creating the event itself. Now, I suppose you can easily contend that he didn't have anything to do with it, even on a "helping" level, but it doesn't change the fact that he did not claim to "invent the internet." Heck, even if you read it with the more picky emphasis as 'I stepped up and I created the internet'--invention is still the wrong word.
So I feel my new one there has yet to be ripped.
I'm not saying it isn't propaganda, nor that he's the saviour of the world, or anything else, except that damning comments against someone are usually more effective when accurate.
(As far as typoes, well, it was only amusing in that you suggested "looking it up"--it's one thing to mis-spell something, another to mis-spell it in the context of referring to the word and its usage)
And as far as the personal electric bill, someone else already responded to that one...
The other points, well, fair enough. I've not been closely reading about Mr. Gore's personal life--my only issue was with the comments as originally stated (you referred to hypocrisy in a way that suggested your preceding comments proved it, not information that did not appear in your post--though that, admittedly, is my own reading and is not specifically outlined at all)
ANYWAY, just to make my previous question a bit more apparent:
Are all of the teachers who applied getting their copies? Or are some people not recieving them?

Same old crap... spouting the standard talking points that are refuted with less than two minutes of research.

That said, to really get the thread back on topic, somehow I missed this one before, but went ahead and signed up now. Who knows if I'll actually get one or not, but thanks to the OP for posting. I've been curious about the movie's content for a while, but am not a big fan of paying to get preached at.

Max, why does anyone own a house that is larger than their "needs"? Al Gore has the means to own a ranch and the integrity to be conscientious about his use of energy, even though it makes him a target for the oily blowhards out there. As a successful American, he has the right to live comfortably. I doubt any of his Republican detractors, a group of non-scientists that stands alone in its support of global warming ignorance, would live any less comfortably in their efforts to make the world better for all of us.
