I still can't place any new orders at all using new accounts. I either get the error message, or as soon as I place the order it gives me a message letting me know that my credit card was declined (PayPal VC).

Just to test things out, I ordered a cheap DVD with my original Google Checkout account, the one I've used for all of the other sales, and it went through perfectly fine (using my PayPal card). If they've blocked me from making new accounts that's fine, I got a number of orders in and they all shipped to me.

If anyone knows how I can still keep it going though, let me know.

Either way, I say just bring on the $10 off $30 and $20 off $50 again!

I'd be interesed in knowing how you managed that. I didn't think they offered free shipping unless you ordered 3 DVD's. Did you find three that added up to just over $10?

And your virtual PayPal cards have security codes?

I can't speak for PayPal, as my virtual cc's come from elsewhere. Maybe they clamped down on PayPal.

Yep, they have security codes and everything. Is there a way to get other one time use numbers to use for this anywhere online?

Does the item need to be $10 before shipping? If not, it could have just been something less than $10.

Dvd Empire has blank dvd cases for 99 cents. They help pad out a cheap order. That order for 32 cents was for Vampires: Out For Blood, Death Game and 1 blank case. I also had an order that came to 8 cents shipped. Word.

Brent, I had the same problem with the Paypal virtual card for a while. Here's what you do. After you create your Google account, immediately go to your account and it should say your card is declined. Hit enter new billing information, edit card and put a 0 before the month and a dash after your area code on your phone number (not sure if this is exactly what you need to do but it's been working for me). After you hit save, it should be fine to make a purchase. Only problem is it tacks on another $1 temporary charge to your account. Let me know if that works for you.

When you get to the Google button at checkout, click on the link and if the e-mail and password you enter doesn't open another page showing the pending order with the GCO discount applied (and the free shipping option is NOT the default shipping method), then there is a problem. If that happens then just re-register for the GCO bonus and enter ALL the information again.

This is my biggest complaint about DVDplanet. I figure if they are going to charge me the individual shipping rate and combine it into one big package (to save them money), they could at least pack the items better. I paid for 8 individual shipments and got 1 box with 12 movies (some of the orders were box sets) with absolutely no f***ing padding. By some miracle, none of my discs were loose & scratched up, unlike the last time they pulled this BS stunt.

I don't mind paying for something that I don't get (individually shipped items), but I don't feel that I should get screwed (no packing materials) in the process.

I had tried the Paypal Virtual Card this weekend and it didn't work. I was having the same issues as BrentLumkin I believe. Anway, now that you've provided the little trick to get it to work I may try it again. My question is how long do the pending authorization charges stay on your paypal account until they go away?

Those charges usually stay on there for 3-5 days or so. However, if you call PayPal and talk to them they can remove them for you if you want. Just explain what you need done, and they should be able to. I've done it many times over the years, and just did it the other day for my Google charges.

I just went through all of my accounts and I currently have 8 orders that haven't shipped and they're all from.......you guessed it, Dvd Planet. If you're in a hurry, I would suggest going with Dvd Empire if they have a comparable price. All my orders with them have shipped the same day or next.

I will try to stay away from Dvd Planet from now on. The way they charge you for shipping and then combine orders without even asking you or giving any heads up sux if you ask me.

Dvd Planet's probably my favorite online retailer, but I just don't think they have the manpower to handle all the orders they've been getting through Google Checkout.

I'm getting the Virtual Card errors at DVD Planet, too. I tried going through DVD Empire instead (the Peter Greenaway: Early Films price difference is only $2, so not a huge issue) and it appears to be alright.

My previous order of Mouchette from DVD Planet using my normal CC has shipped, and my Kenneth Anger pre-order with CD Universe never got cancelled (I wasn't sure if the GCO deal could be used with items that haven't been released yet) so no issues as of yet...

I got it to work on a preorder of the Kenneth Anger DVD for $9.03 at CDUniverse. It went through okay when I did it and I got a Google Checkout receipt emailed to me. But I just checked and in addition to the Checkout receipt I have one from CDUniverse for the full $19.03 amount. This happen to anyone else? Probably just got screwed up since it's a preorder. Oh well, I'm not too worried about it, I've never seen an of Kenneth Anger's work and this was just a cheap way to check it out, but I hope they didn't charge me through Checkout and through CDUniverse.

Oh, also my DVDPlanet order of Gojira shipped. It took about 6 days of me seeing In Progress when I checked, but it shipped today.

I'm pretty sure that you only see the $10/off discount on the Google Checkout receipts, and not stuff directly from the site you bought it from.

That is the case. When I ordered from CD Universe I got an email from them with the full price, and one from Google with the discounted price. I was only billed the discounted price of course. When the item arrived the invoice inside made no mention of Google or the discount.

Thanks, that's what I'm thinking too. I've done 3 orders, 2 with DVDPlanet and 1 with CDUniverse. With the two from DVDPlanet I never got an email from them, just Checkout. But I checked DVDPlanet and the price was showing $10 more than what I actually paid, the CDUniverse email just threw me off I guess. Thanks for clearing that up.

Not all e-tailers send out their own confirmation when you check out with Google. Those who do send their own confirmation (like Buy.com) do not include the discount. Google warns you about this on the receipt they generate:

Google Checkout $10 Sign-up Bonus - Bonus may not appear on this store's web site or emails.

By all means give them a call. They answer fairly promptly (no outsourcing yet) and you'll probably discover that ordered items ship out from there within 3 business days if in stock.
