It features a young, pre-Starsky David Soul & future teen pop idol Bobby Sherman just before he 'broke out'. Really just a highly enjoyable, well-done DVD set).

And you would be wrong. If you bothered to read all of the posts, you would see that some who took advantage of the mistake stated that they felt "sleazy" , while others who didn't said that they didn't see anything unethical about taking merchandise they hadn't paid for.

What I WOULD guarantee is that everyone who saw absolutely nothing wrong with this "deal" would squawk the loudest if Amazon found a way to take advantage of a "computer glitch" to deliberately charge their customers for products they hadn't even ordered. Then we would really see who would get "their panties in a wad". Some on this board have a history of being deeply offended anytime "ethics" are discussed and (predictably) fling the "hypocrite" label to attempt (unsuccessfully) to censor those who actually have the temerity to suggest that there are limits to how far one should go to get DVDs. To hear someone say their "moral compass is still working" when condoning what amounts to theft is...well, frankly, quite amazing. It would be nice if those people would actually post some legitimate bargains for everyone to enjoy rather than merely whining about posts they don't like.

Sorry that I didn't feel like wasting 2 hours of my life reading about what is and isn't "ethical"?

And what in the world are you doing right now? Posting a non bargin while finding some way to whine about a post you didn't like? Wow, if anyone needs an example of an oxymoron for an upcomming high school, or college paper, just steal that sentence.

BTW- Rescue Me for 1&2 for $35.99 is a that bad of a deal especially if you missed out on Target having it for $19.99.

You can save a couple of bucks if you're a member of Costco. They have each season of Rescue Me for $15.99 each.

Why woul you think a crazy thing like that? Just because a Mod said it was? Just because people were reminded about it and are still arguing, almost as if they want to be suspended / banned?

5 of my 6 shipped orders just arrived! The 6th, placed right before the "bargain" was retooled, shipped this morning.

I thought so, too. The discussion was supposed to be over. But, evidently, those on the "ethics don't matter" camp couldn't let it go...and posted some blatantly false, rude, & provocative statements to justify their view (which basically says that it's okay to take what doesn't belong to them...because they want to. And the hell with anyone who says differently). Those statements can be ignored or challenged...I choose to do the latter.

There ARE some "bargins" (sic) to be had in the Fox deal...legitimate bargains, that is. 50% off an item SHOULD be considered a bargain by anyone (others than those who except to get everything free). We see many posts for 10% off, 20% off, etc. that people avidly read and use. If someone does NOT consider Buy1Get1 Free to be a bargain, you are wasting your time on this forum. You don't get too many deals better than that.

Most of the deals posted on the Amazon B1G1 thread are true bargains IF you are looking for the particular item. Sure, most of these Fox titles have been on sale several times before. However, everyone may not have aware of those sales. Or they may have just gotten interested in a particular show. Or they may want another copy as a gift. There are many reasons for reposting sales that have taken place earlier, even if some of us are tired of seeing the same items. We're not to blame for wanting new items to go on sale...but no one is forcing us to read these threads.

Also, remember that today's deal may not be as good tomorrow. Right now, 24 Season 5 for $19.99 seems to be a great "bargain". Next Thanksgiving, Target will probably have it for $16.99. Some items have price drops that take place after we have gotten our current sale prices. Does that mean that those items were not bargains at the time they were posted? It seems disrespectful of those who have taken the time & energy to share a (legitimate, advertised, over-the-counter) deal with others to mock it as being a "non-bargin" (sic). If you can find it cheaper, more power to you. Some items don't interest me at all. That doesn't mean that they're not a bargain for someone else. We see people clipping coupons for 2 for 1 HAMBURGERS, for crying out loud. Don't you think that saving $10-20 is a bargain to most people?

My advice for those who don't want to "waste 2 hours of their lives reading about ethics" is (1) Don't read them (2) Take a speed-reading course (3) Brush up on your spelling ("upcomming", "un-ethical", "bargins"). BTW...the "whining" comment was aimed at a particular poster on this thread...one who couldn't let it go...who has several times in the past smugly insulted others who (in her parlance) were "whining" about ethics (such as price-switching UPC stickers, etc.) as if the little matter of right & wrong is too inconsequential to think about. After all...WE'RE TALKING ABOUT DVD'S HERE, DUDE! No room for ethics (never heard of the word...don't want to hear about it. Would rather pretend they don't exist...unless I am treated "unfairly", of course. THEN...why, of course ethics matter).

Maybe there SHOULD be 2 separate forums set up...one for people who want to obtain their DVDs fairly at the least expense...and one forum for those who don't give a damn how they get them (and don't want to be "preached" at...regardless of their obvious need for some ethical education). I mean, if someone can't see that's it wrong to steal, I have no problem with saying that they are wrong and that their "moral compass" is severely flawed. The jails are full of people whose 'moral compasses' justified their actions. It amazes me how people can watch their DVDs and admire the characters who "do the right thing" (whistle-blowers, those who stand up to bullies, etc.) and then proceed to take advantage of others. There's a serious disconnect between their fantasy ethics & their real "ethics". Many, many posters here have admitted to rationalizing their behavior in order to get their DVDs and then feeling a little bad about it. My point is that there are other options.

I think everyone, no matter where they stand on the previous issue, should let this go now. Just let this thread be about the sale that is going on now.

What's with all of these sets being listed as "Region 99"? Do I need a bunch of luftbaloons to view these DVDs?

Ummm, yeah... so you spend the first part of your post talking about people wanting to keep it going, then you go ahead and blatantly insult everyone that doesn't think as you do - which is a guaranteed way to keep the argument going. Great job in doing exactly what you chastise others for! LET THE GOD DAMN SITUATION DROP, WILL YOU?????

Christ, I'm going to start reporting all of you and hope that some suspensions / bannings will come about. Maybe that'll teach you to shut your mouths when a mod tells you to.

If you people are dead set on keeping this going, here's the discussion thread about the whole situation in the "Other" forum here at DVDTalk. Go there and bitch 'till your little heart is content.

With all due respect, shut the hell up already!!

Thank You!

Maybe that will work. Obviously, the threat of possible suspensions or worse hasn't had any effect...

(Yawn) Read the moderator's first post of this thread. No link was provided for discussion to continue. It seems that many (including some who want people to shut up) were confused by the first post, which made it appear that the discussion was to continue here.

BTW...Out of 40 posts in this new thread, how many are actually devoted to discussing the real deal (as in pointing out specific good buys)? I count two (including my recommendation of Here Come the Brides) and one from King Slug.
There are a few other general comments regarding the bargains to be had, both pro & con. Otherwise, it doesn't appear that many have anything to say about the deal...otherwise to post some rather amusing little diatribes of their own regarding what they do or don't want to hear. Guess the First Amendment only works one way.

I had a lengthy response typed up, including a wonderful commentary about your ignorance in regards to the First Amendment. I've deleted that, and instead am just going to report you to the forum moderators. Despite the fact that Pilot's message (which said this thread was about discussing the current deal) was reposted on the first page, and despite you being told time and time again to stop the complaining of the "ethics" of the situation in the now-closed thread, you insist on continuing this bullshit.

I'll go through this thread when I can, unless another admin does, but since nobody can play nice, you can go find something else to groan about.
