[QUOTE=creekdipper]??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

He's reffering to the deal where you Buy 1 dvd set listed and you get one of equal or lesser value for free. The BOGO is what Amazon intended the sale to be (the lgitimate sale). The pricing error which wasn't legitimate was where you got a double credit for the lowest priced set which wasn't what Amazon intended.

In other words, giving hypocrisy a voice (or a soapbox).

But I am just guessing - any thoughts?

What he is saying is that the non-stop back and forth about the ethics of the past mistake/glitch is over. This thread is to talk about the current Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal that is ongoing at Amazon and nothing else.

leeta 12-25-06 11:23 AM

Actually, I think he is saying that if anyone wants to continue the 'ethical debate' to do so here rather than in the true deal thread.

Personally, I think it has been discussed enough...

movieguru 12-25-06 11:29 AM

I'm confused now.

Mosskeeto 12-25-06 11:30 AM

This is the closing post from Pilot (the administrator) from the locked thread:

"this thread is now closed. check the new thread with the same title if you wish to discuss the REAL deal amazon is offering, and please do not continue to discuss the glitch and those who decided to abuse it. thank you."

leeta 12-25-06 11:44 AM

I stand corrected... :o

pilot 12-25-06 11:57 AM

Sorry, I should have been more clear, but Mosskeeto wrote from what my other comment was, so there we go.

chard31 12-25-06 12:22 PM

So I assume that by now, the deal is dead?

The legitimate BOGO deal is still ongoing. The naughty "deal" ended on Saturday afternoon.

sotra 12-25-06 02:28 PM

And so the discussion ended :)

Boy do I remember the days we could talk freely on this forum about anything without some senior member getting his panties all in a wad

I just read some of the posts on the other thread. Seems to me that whoever didn't get the 2 free sets (from being late on the deal and what not) think that it's "un-ethcial." Yet, put them in the same situation, and I guarentee you each and every one of them gets the 2 free DVD sets.

I personally don't see anything wrong with getting 2 TV sets for free. Amazon made the mistake, and now they're paying for it. I bet it will never happen again, and who ever did it might be losing their job right now. However, the people that scammed multiple sets off this should maybe perhaps get a better paying job.

Too bad I couldn't get in on the deal... I would have got Rescue Me, but alas, I was late. :(

Guys, what part of the previous thread closure do you not understand? This thread is for talking about the current B1G1F deal.

Which nobody cares about since it isn't really all that hot of a deal.

Only if there's nothing you want. But looking at it from strictly a pricing standpoint, it's a hell of a deal.

A hell of a deal for which titles? Some of the DVDs are currently cheaper at FYE.

:banned: :)

I would jump on the deal, but I got Gift Cards for a couple of B&M stores that I'll use to get DVDs instead.

creekdipper 12-26-06 03:38 AM

There are some good deals to be had. For instance, Here Come the Brides is $36.49...using the B1G1 deal, it is $18.25. For comparison, DDD's current price is $38. (If you don't know the show, read the glowing recommendations on DVDTalk & from Amazon customers. It features a young, pre-Starsky David Soul & future teen pop idol Bobby Sherman just before he 'broke out'. Really just a highly enjoyable, well-done DVD set).

:(

And you would be wrong. If you bothered to read all of the posts, you would see that some who took advantage of the mistake stated that they felt "sleazy" , while others who didn't said that they didn't see anything unethical about taking merchandise they hadn't paid for.

What I WOULD guarantee is that everyone who saw absolutely nothing wrong with this "deal" would squawk the loudest if Amazon found a way to take advantage of a "computer glitch" to deliberately charge their customers for products they hadn't even ordered. Then we would really see who would get "their panties in a wad". Some on this board have a history of being deeply offended anytime "ethics" are discussed and (predictably) fling the "hypocrite" label to attempt (unsuccessfully) to censor those who actually have the temerity to suggest that there are limits to how far one should go to get DVDs. To hear someone say their "moral compass is still working" when condoning what amounts to theft is...well, frankly, quite amazing. It would be nice if those people would actually post some legitimate bargains for everyone to enjoy rather than merely whining about posts they don't like.
