It works in all 6 stores in my area. Simply put, any time an employee tells you that the 2 deals do not stack, they are either ignorant or lying. Individual stores do not program how their register rings things up, it is all programmed by corporate and each store connects and downloads any updates.
If someone is in the rare instance of an idiot counter-jockey that doesn't know how to do his or her job, I would suggest buying the items anyway and then doing one of the following:
1. Go to a different store where they do the deal correctly, and ask them to fix the mistake.
2. Demand the number of the regional manager, and call him/her and ask that they inform their employee of how this sale works, and request a price adjustment.

I've had a few instances lately where an employee will say "wow" or "this is a great movie" when I bring up a stack of $5.99 movies and THEN they can't seem to find the DVD to the box!!!
This is beginning to really piss me off...
I know they are just saying that and then they will buy the movie themselves after I leave...
It's happened too many times already...
As for the pricing, just bring up the dvds to the register and have them ring it up, if the discount doesn't show up you can always tell them forget it...

Some of it might be that they want to buy the movie themself, but a lot of it is because your average Game Stop / EB employee (especially the seasonal help) is a barely literate drone that doesn't know how the alphabet works. Not only do you have to contend with the potential ineptness of the person waiting on you, you also have to deal with the ineptness of the person that filed the discs. At one of my local stores, the regular employees are complaining that the seasonal helpers are filing things out of order, and even in the wrong areas (PS2 games in the X-Box section, DVD's in the X-Box area, etc).

I have NEVER had a problem at the various EBG/GS stores I go to here in the Portland Metro area. Maybe we're the exception to the rule, but my guys always stack the two deals, and I even had a manager one time get out his calculator (without my prompting) to make sure I was "getting the maximum discount" (his words, not mine). Not to mention the fact that they're always courteous and friendly, and some even know me as a regular for these sales now!

Dammit, why couldn't the thieves have come back a day earlier? I stopped by EB on the way home tonight, and a guy came in and sold them freshly stolen copies of Jet Li's Fearless, American Pie: Naked Mile, Invincible, Justice League season 2 and Toy Story 2. They gave him all of $21 and change for the 5 titles.
Invincible, Naked Mile and Fearless were all $9.99 films, so I grabbed all 3 for $20 before discount and tax.

I have a feeling that the next B2G1F won't be until spring, when the video game market has its slow season.

I spoke to a few different GS and they all said "Sometime in Feb" and from past experiences, the "B2G1" sale usually happens on a "holiday"...
