Deepdiscountdvd had this for around 35 dollars. Figuring that you pay no taxes and free shipping this is probably your best bet.

$42 at dvdplanet, so if the google checkout $10 still works 5 days from now, that brings it to $32 plus shipping (is there free shipping there?).

Warning: this post is not in the slightest bit useful:

Season 5 sucked... i stopped buying after Season 3 (key word is buying, not watching, as i do plan to watch season 6)... just my humble opinion

actually, i will be helpful... you can get it from DVD empire right now for $32.58 (shipped free) after google, or DVD Planet will have it (when it's released) for $31.96 (shipped free) after google

buy.com has it for $46 without free shipping, if only they'd jack their price up to $50 with free shipping... and for the record, i'm boycotting Buy.com for their horrible horrible price manipulation for freerolling off of google's money (after the sale ends of course)

At BN.com, use the 25% off coupon B3U6E4V + 10% AAA discount at bn and get it for 28.33, without AAA it's 31.48. You might be charged tax if not in certain states.
The bn coupon is good until 12/10, AAA is 10% until 12/11 through the aaa.com link.

The price was better last week when the pre-coupon nonmember price was 35.98, but it's still a great price.

Thanks for posting that deal! I just ordered a copy from BN.com

Even with local sales tax, my total shipped price of $29.53 was $7.44 less than the $36.97 pre-order that I had made with Amazon weeks ago. After placing the BN.com order I cancelled my Amazon order.

I can't wait to see Season 5! I missed all the broadcast episodes.

Bob

I'm waiting for Black Friday, 2007.

In the meantime I've got seasons 2-4 plus 6 to keep me busy.

Thanks a bunch for the spoiler! Some of us don't watch this on TV and wait to see it on dvd.

Also, if you want to crap all over this particular season, do it in TV Talk. This is for BARGAINS and your post has nothing to do with that.

Remember to get the AAA discount, you must enter thru their site.
Season 5 was without a doubt the finest show on TV of ALL TIME.

What do Steeler fans really know - the officials gave them the last Super Bowl - it'll be another lifetime before they sniff it again!

I started watching 24 during the beginning of the 5th Season since a friend told me about it. I liked it and bought Season 1 from Best Buy and Season 2-4 from Amazon. Planning on price matching Season 5 from Fry's Electronics.
At Fry's its $34.99

I've loved them all and only watch them on DVD as I have no cable.

Speedy didn't say this but it looks like 24 Season 5 has a bonus disc.

Looks like you have to order it from Best Buy online to get the bonus disc.

Did all the other seasons have a bonus disc when they came out on DVD?

Do you need to be a AAA member to get the AAA discount? I'm assuming it's necessary to sign into the AAA site to get the discount, but it looks like you can be a non-member and still register for the site. If one registers as a non-member, would it still be possible to get the AAA discount?

I'm not sure if you need to be a member. But I never had to log into the AAA.com site. During the BN.com checkout process I was asked for, I think, the first five numbers of my AAA membership number.

They got new writers.

Season 5 was helmed by Manny Coto, who was responsible for the amazing, final-season turn-around of the otherwise craptastic Enterprise and the similarly great Odyssey 5, and before that Strange World. Coto is the reason Peter Weller (from Odyssey 5) and some of the other new minor characters were brought in for Season 5, and probably the reason the Aaron Pierce character (actor from Strange World) got more screen time.

I thought Season 5 was a big step up over the previous two seasons and am looking forward to Season 6, which Coto is also lead writer for.

Still, no way I am paying more than $20 for season 5. Since I've seen the show already, I am content to wait a year and snap it up for ~$17 like I just did for Season 4.

I'm with you on this one Jah-Wren.... Since I didn't miss a single episode last season, I can wait till it drops below $20. On a side note, I have loved EVERY season so far, including season 5... I can't wait for the new season to start next month.... boy it's getting close!!!!

While Manny Coto was a new writer, and did have impact on the fifth season, he was by no means the lead writer. Howard Gordon (veteran of Buffy, Angel, and The X-Files) was elevated to showrunner position in the fifth season.
