first of all, teams don't lose games because of bad calls. Let's see what calls you're referring to:
1) the offensive pass interference call which negated the first TD
- probably a bad call, but it's not like it resulted in a turnover. They still had the ball in good field position with a chance to score. Hey the officials blew a call in the first quarter of the game, the Super Bowl is over. If Jeramy (sp?) Stevens could've stopped talking trash and held on to either the ball on 2nd or 3rd down, there would've been no problem with that call
2) Ben's TD run.... the call was made on the field of TD. Even on replay, I couldn't conclusively tell if he made it or not. if you could, you should seriously consider a career as an NFL replay official, cause you have better eyes than the rest of the world. The call on the field is what they had to stick to.
Now, if you wanna complain about bad calls, let's talk about the Pittsburgh vs. Indy game in the playoffs. Troy Polamalu's INT in the 4th quater (not the first quarter like in the Super Bowl) that was called an incompletion (the NFL later apologized to the Steelers and admitted the mistake, something they didn't do for the Seahaws, cause the calls weren't atrocious)
anyways, that could've easily cost us the game, but I wouldn't be sitting here acting like a bitter asshole even if it had cost us the game, cause we had a million chances to win the game despite the calls... and for the record in both of those games, the better team on that particular day ended up winning...
Now as for my steelers this year, it's hard to defend them... but if I were to compare their play to something, it'd be like Season 5 of 24... really really shitty with flashes of greatness scattered...

What it needed was more Elisha Cuthbert. Maybe in season six she's be kidnapped and have to hide in a lingerie fashion show and make her big escape on the catwalk. I smell ratings!

Why the hell are people debating the *greatness* of 24's best season in this thread? Read the title of the topic, please!
Personally, I'm going to be picking my copy up at Circuit City for $36.99 and I'll use the $5 gift card toward the next two James Bond sets the following week.

That's actually a great idea speedy!! Have you guys heard of www.meetup.com ??? It's a very popular site that helps people get together (about once a month anywhere in the world) to meet up and talk about topics of similar interests. It's also very easy to start a group if there isn't one already. speedy or whoever could start a DVDTalk Meetup group in CT or anywhere.Originally Posted by speedy1961

I did a search and the closest related Meetup group is the Swappers and DVD-Swap Meetups. Here's a link to find one (listed by city) near you:

Good luck and if anyone starts one in NYC, you can count me in on the monthly meetings!!!

Yeah I'm going for the CC deal too, gonna use the $5 GC on POTC2 hehe.
Don't care much about the bonus disc offers, most of them are fluff and will probably be up on YouTube within the next week.

So what would you have to do? Would you have to go through the line twice, once to buy the 24 season 5 dvd then use the $5 gift card for POTC or do you think you can just use it on the spot?Yeah I'm going for the CC deal too, gonna use the $5 GC on POTC2 hehe.

Go up to the register with 24 season 5 and Pirates 2. Tell the cashier you want to have 2 separate transactions. Have them ring up the 24 order first, in which they'll scan and activate your $5 gift card. Then, when that order is complete, the gift card will be ready to go. When they total out your 2nd order containing the Pirates 2 DVD, use the $5 gift card as payment. I'm sure you'll have no problems whatsoever.
Good luck!

The following package delivery took place today between 12:00 and 1:00 PM.
My copy of 24 Season 5 arrived today!
Thanks again to Vellsbells for posting the excellent Barnes & Noble deal. It was only $29.53 shipped, including local sales tax.
Now I have to prepare for unavoidable periods of sleep deprivation as I decide that I can watch "just one more episode". ;-)

Gear up. It's another fun season. I can proudly say that my wife and I have just one hour left of Season 5 to finish up, to be polished off tonight. Somehow, I managed to record each episode of the season in HD, dump them all onto my DVD Recorder's hard drive, and not accidentally erase any of them or f**k anything up. Having watched Seasons 1-4 on DVD, and Season 5 using this method, Season 6 will be the first one where we are caught up and watch during the season.Originally Posted by Bob_F1

That's great that you were able to watch Season 5 in HD. That's my plan for Season 6.Originally Posted by jeffrey r

And the sleep deprivation begins. I watched four episodes of Season 5 last night. I'm really enjoying it.

I got mine yesterday from Amazon. To receive it one day after its release date using free shipping is impressive.
The packaging stinks! They went with thinpacks so it doesn't match up at all with the first 4 seasons. WB recently did a similar thing with Smallville Season 5(of course I bought that on HD-DVD, so it's a moot point).
As far as the DVDs themselves, the transfer quality is at least on par with Season 4 from what I could see. Tons of commentaries, but they were clearly recorded after the season was through filming, so don't listen to them til you're done watching the whole thing.
The extras on Disc 7 were nice. I especially liked the one about the supporting players. Who knew Mike Novick was a folk singer?

4 episodes a night seems to be the usual trend... when you have to get up and change the disc, that's when you know you should be calling it a night

And, to convince myself to start the fourth episode on a disc, I'll tell myself that it only takes 42 minutes. :-)

My husband and I had never seen 24 before. We got the first 4 seasons on black friday and thought we would try it and if we didn't like the first one, we would take the other 3 back. Now it is our favorite show. We have already finished the first 2 seasons and are in the middle of the third. I bought season 5 this week and we are going to tivo season 6, so we can watch it after we are all caught up. I can't believe I have been missing this show all this time. After we are done with 24, we are going to try Lost. We have never seen it either. We never watch anything but Prison break and Earl on TV. We have always just watched movies.

I am hesitant to even read this thread because I do not want anybody spoiling this season for me as I have waited this long to watch the DVDs. With that being said I'm looking for the best price too. A FWer said they saw it for $23.99 at Fry's B&M today, outpost.com has it listed as $34.99 though.
