Bully to this. My point exactly.

Yes, they did re-release this "limited edition" set a few months ago, but as I bought my set during last November's DDD sale for $111, I haven't kept up on the current state of the re-release. I know DDD did have the re-release in stock back a few months ago.

With a "library" I have something I can draw from over time, lend to family/friends (they better be close friends!), etc.

I never really got into buying VHS, laserdisc, etc. So (HDDVD, BluRay nonwithstanding) stocking up on DVD this way makes sense as something that should last a while.

Plus I absolutely can't stand broadcast TV format (don't even have cable/sat - there's $60 or more a month for DVDs right there); having a lot of flexibility really works out really well for me.
windidiot, your philosophy is pretty close to mine. I am closing in on the 2000 mark in number of titles owned and have been collecting for about six years, trying to accumulate a complete library of any films/shows I would ever want to see. And I have only watched about 40% of what I own simply because I don't have the time (yet), but I know eventually that I will work my way through the entire collection at least once or twice (and some titles probably several times).

So for me it's all about the collecting at the moment. I know the time will come in the very near future when my purchases slow down to a few per year as I don't plan to upgrade to the high-def format for titles I already own unless they are in need of actual replacement.

As for the DDD 20% sales, I usually drop a few hundred dollars on each one, getting stuff that's been recently released and occasionally more expensive titles that I will hold out on until the sale comes around. But if I was just starting out on a building a DVD collection, no doubt I would be going hog wild.

Anyway, my first of probably two orders (waiting for some 11/14 releases, too):

Order Summary:
LAUREL & HARDY COLLECTION V.02 $ 20.76
WATCH THE SKIES SET $ 10.64
THE FEMME FATALE COLLECTION $ 10.64
LASSIE TRIPLE FEATURE $ 7.58

GREAT EXPECTATIONS $ 4.79
DESTINATION MOON/ROCKETSHIP X-M $ 7.98
THE LAST BROADCAST $ 10.61
I DRINK YOUR BLOOD $ 13.27
CANNIBAL FEROX AKA-MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY $ 12.55
OH WHAT A LOVELY WAR $ 7.55
4 D MAN $ 5.32

Your Total: $116.48

Anybody else having a problem with items removed from their cart? I ordered Nothern Exposure season 5, then clicked on remove when I found it was a preorder. When I checked out, it showed quantity 0 and did not count in the total. When I got my confirmation email, it showed quantity 1 and DID count in the total, which was higher than when I checked out.

Dropped a couple hundred bucks last night, but this morning as I was taking things off my Amazon Wish List, I saw that Amazon has Adventures of Superman Vol.3/4 for $19.99. I'd just ordered it from DDD for $23.99 (with the 20% discount). I figure I saved PLENTY on the other stuf I bought, so no big deal, but if anyone's thinking of grabbing this set, you may want to go with Amazon on this one.

The same thing happened to me AND i did exactly what you did here. I think the way to go here is to remove everything and then put them back in.

My problem also was with a preorder (Friends set) I did not realize it was a preorder and tried to remove. The CS person I talked to was very helpful and all is squared away to my satisfaction. Just a heads up.

If one of your orders gets lost in the mail, at least you have another one to look forward to.

Also, a big part of it is realizing something else you wanted right after you already placed an order.

Well, if its a preorder, the discount wouldn't apply to it anyway.

Hence why someone would want to *remove* it from their cart, and make sure that it says removed.

A lot of posts in here remind me of the Monty Python "Argument" sketch.

Here's my second order. I kept telling myself I was not going to get the Bond sets until it makes it to HD. Couldn't resist the price and sold most of my other Bond DVDs which will pay for the upgrades. Not sure if I will order anything else since DDD raised the prices on several items I was thinking of buying.

FILM NOIR-DARK SIDE OF HOLLYWOOD $26.57
JAMES BOND ULTIMATE COLLECTION V.1 $43.91
JAMES BOND ULTIMATE COLLECTION V.2 $43.91
