This series looks like it's about a sci-fi/futuristic style bounty hunter. We'll see.

if you wind up liking this series, this set is only half of the series, there is a better box set available with the full series plus bonus features, you can prob find it on amazon for about 20 bucks. |
Knollwood (St. Louis Park, MN.) has restocked. All $3:
Memento 2 disc LE Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (WS/FS) Casualties of War Extended Cut A River Runs Through It 2 disc DE Blue Submarine No. 6 3 disc SE box I also picked up an extra Batman '43 serials as trade bait for any of these 2 disc sets: Strangers on a Train Rebel Without a Cause Giant East of Eden |

Reviews aren't great, but I couldn't pass up getting an entire series for $3.
According to the anime thread, the Blue Submarine movie has also been spotted at $3, but I have yet to see it around here. If anyone finds it, let me know. |

I noticed that 2 of the 3 area stores seemed to have been restocked this week, one was really heavy on Anime, and the other one was mainly movies. The one with just movies had $3 titles (most of which I've seen before) and a new bunch marked $4.90 is this a new price point?
I missed D.E.B.S. back in December, I thought I picked it up but went back through the bags and must have skipped it. Is it still around anywhere? |

If anyone runs across Cowboy Bebop session 1, 2, 5, or 6, I'm still looking...<hint, hint>

I made it out this weekend to one of my local biglots and noticed the same thing on the anime. I thought it strange as this biglots has hardly ever had any anime stuff in the past and I walked in and there was like 2 1/2 shelves of anime! I will be going back over there in the next day or 2 as well as hitting one or two other local ones so I can try and help anyone out looking for some certain titles if I can. I myself am still hunting for the 40's batman serial others have found. |

Yes, there is no Batmobile (it's the Wayne sedan), it is very un-PC (based on stereotypes of the Japanese villain... however, we *were* at war during those years and propaganda plays a major role here), Batman is an operative for the U.S. Government (very un-Batman like, but again the war thing), and it's somewhat campy. BUT... it *is* a serial made in the early 40s. These were aimed at a 10-13 year old male audience. The cliff-hangers are more plausible, better explained and executed than most serials I've seen. Lots of action sequences with Batman and Robin frequently getting the crap knocked out of them (but always coming out on top in the end). The costumes are actually pretty good considering the year and budget for these things. The BatCave is a hoot! The musical score is very good and atmospheric with the opening credits having the best. The video and audio are quite good for a serial from the 40s. If you like serials it's a must-see. For $3 there is quite a bit of entertainment value and an excellent "blind buy". |

I didn't like the Batman serial collection for anyone that wants a different opinion. I found it racist, out-dated, and far too campy (for my tastes). I had a friend over, who happens to be Asian, and without even knowing what it was going to be like I put on the first disc to check it out. He couldn't believe they still sell this stuff even though it is obviously offensive and outdated. I'm not trying to say you WONT enjoy it. You very well might... but that is my opinion on it. I wasn't a fan of the old Batman TV series anyway so It might appeal to fans of that show. I wouldn't know. However, as a big Batman Comic Book fan (Frank Miller's work), Batman: TAS, and Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan's film adaptations, I was disappointed.

No sign of a Batman for Neil yet, but I did find Wolf's Rain 4 for myself. I'll be set once I find Volume 1 and the OVA (which I think is listed as Volume 7 on the security sticker?). |
Visited the BG last night that had lots of anime when I was in there on Saturday and wow someone had hit it hard! Anyway picked up the following (3 bucks for each) :
cowboy bebop 6th session Then some stuff for FangsFirst and Printerati: Gundam 0083 Planetes vol 6 Overman King Gainer Exodus 6 Mars Daybreak Vol 6 ( 2 copies) Not much off your lists but but at least there were a few. I will be visiting some more biglots on Saturday so I will keep looking for you guys. There were a ton of mars daybreak vol 3 but sadly neither of you needed that one! Did not see any of the 2 disc like rebel without a cause, giant, etc. and of course no batman. :( Hopefully this Saturday I will find some of the other stuff! |
Found at local BL:

Well on impulse today on my lunch hour I decided to hit up a little "baby" biglots that is close to my office (I work over in Louisville) and they had a ton of dvds stocked up which really surprised me because this has to be the smallest biglots I have ever been in and the last time I was in there about 6 months ago they had zip. Anyway the bad news is of course no batman and no 2 JD 2 discers. I did however pick up:
mobile suit gundam seed vol 7 mobile suit gundam F91 - The motion picture 2 disc special edition FangFirst your list you sent me just listed Gundam F91 so I dont know if this is what you were looking for or not. Figured I would snag it just in case. No biggie if its not as I will just return it when I am at the BL's on Saturday or see if someone else on here needs it. |

I can try to see if they still have the SEED movie next time I stop by there but it might be a few days, and they may be gone by then, but I will try. Not sure which vols of 0083 there were, let me know what you are looking for. |

picked up Augustus with Peter O'Toole for 3 bucks, 3 hour epic about roman empire. it was fool screen and i usually only buy widescreen, but figured for 3 bucks what the hell. I am sure its no caligula, but might be good.
|
Well the biglots I went to at lunch today and had never been to before was a really nice big one and had quite a big selection of movies. Oddly enough though they had no cartoons or anime of any kind! I picked up body double SE for myself as I had even forgot this title was showing up quite a while back at BL's. I also picked up the 2 disc edition of Philidelphia for Basaro so looks like my batman serial search is finally over! This BL had a ton of spanish movies and spanish fitness dvds. I had not come across that before. Hopefully tomorrow when I hit a couple of more BL's I will turn up some more anime for you guys.

I guess my Batman serial search for Neil is finally over, too. :( ;) |
Appreciate the updates and bumping of this thread... All the talk of some of the stores 'restocking' finally convinced me to stop in again. Found all the titles that I was interested in previously but had missed out on: Memento, Philadelphia, League of Their Own, River Runs Through It, Monster.

Awesome! |
OH man they had some awesome stuff this morning. I picked up (all for only #3):
Memento(2-Disk LE; They actually had AT LEAST 5 copies of this, I w as shocked considering how good of a deal this is, I already have a copy But I picked up one more just in case...) League of Their Own: SE River Runs Through It: Deluxe Edition, Monster: SE, Crazy in Alabama: SE, Starship Troopers 2: SE. Also I saw Urban legend(WS/FF), I Know What You Did Last Summer (WS/FF), Out of Reach (Steven Seagal STV flick), Meltdown (Pretty decent Die-Hard rip-off starring Jet Li) and others. Still can not find the Batman serials collection but thats ok since honestly its probably something I would never even watch. Big Lots is defintiely awesome though for getting these great titles. |
Closer Superbit $3
Flatliners $2 |
Has anyone found copies of:
IGPX: Vol. 7 Outlaw Star: Vol. 1, 3 Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket Vol. 2 I am looking for those. If anyone can find them and is willing to sell them to me at cost (obviously I will pay for shipping/packaging) or to trade for something I might be able to find at my Big Lots just let me know. The one I go to just recently got a lot of different anime titles. |
