Really cool indeed, Ken. Too bad I'm not that savy about MS Access. Otherwise, it's a great way of keeping inventory of a huge DVD collection, or anything for that matter.

Wow. That's an Access database? That is seriously impressive. I've been using Access for my collection too, but I've only got a fraction of that. I wish I had the patience and skills to do what you've done there. That's awesome.

Another title I don't see on the list but found today is Motorama. It was priced at 4.99. Other than that and Good Bye Lenin mentioned above, there was not much of anything new at my local Big Lots, but I may have missed some as I had not been there in awhile. Also there was 1 copy of The Bear which is a Sony title I think that is also not on the list.

A funny thing happened when the girl at the cash register was scanning the DVDs. The security tag beeper was going off at the register (you know the one that they have to demagnetize so it won't go off when you leave the store). Well, she kept passing the discs that were beeping, in the confusion she forgot to ring up one of them, so I got 7 DVDs for the price of 6

I saw 2 copies of Timecode ($2), but it was listed as 1.33:1. So I passed on them. When I got home I did a little research. The film was shot open matte with the theatrical release cropped to 1.85:1. Here's what I found:

I still may pick this up due to the abundance of extras including 2 version of the film, rated and unrated.

I saw multiple copies of the following titles, which aren't bolded on the list:

Timecode is a funny duck. The screen is always split in quarters, with each showing a different shot. So for the theatrical release I'm assuming that each quarter was cropped accordingly. I think they missed a valuable chance on the DVD, to let multiple angles open up any of the quadrants that we wanted as the movie progressed. Still, it was a pretty good concept.

A TON of new, non-Columbia titles have poured in to my BL. All priced at $2 and $3 from "Blue Laser Films" and "Echo Bridge Home Entertainment". Most of the stuff is action-oriented, with the usual cast of 2d tier actors. I *did* spring for these:

Once A Thief (John Woo)
Orphans and Angels (New Zealand director Harold Brodie's first)
They Shoot Divas, Don't They (Wes Craven-produced TV feature)
Spirit Hunter (Indie horror. Won Key West & Telluride Film Fests

There were far too many to look through and I was rushed. No new Columbia-Tri Star titles.

I've seen a ton of the Blue Laser titles, too. Every one I have seen has been full-frame and has only the Canadian rating on the back (but no bilingual packaging). A few of the titles in doc's list ring a bell, and I also remember seeing Venus On The Half Shell, mainly because the woman on the cover is quite attractive.

I've always wondered if that "Blue Laser" company will ever have to change its name, since it's so similar to that of Blu-Ray. I have one disc from them, American Drive-In, which is pretty bad in most respects.

Stopped by the Brooklyn Center BL today while running around and saw several more of the "20 movie pack" sets from Mill Creek. The most interesting find was the just-released (well, maybe six weeks ago) "Fun With Ozzie & Harriet" 4-disc set for $6. This is the bargain box of the year, with 38 public domain episodes. The quality is surprisingly good and many original commercials are included. List is $14.95 and DDD has it for $8.22 before the 20% sale discount.

Saw a bunch of new titles at Big Lots today.

- Several Dragon Ball Z Uncut, YuGiOh, and Lupin the 3rd DVDs.
- Lots of new Mill Creek sets, as docdoowop mentioned.
- Some 'new' $4.99 movies. Probably 20 titles that I haven't seen there before... including the Psycho remake w/Anne Heche (WS) and Cry Wolf (FF).
