Ken Cline:

I was checking titles off the updated master list and found one other Sony DVD I had purchased at Big Lots which should be emboldened:

Black & White (Gina Gershon)

Thanks!

It sure is hit-and-miss at BL! Coon Rapids had a few...Brooklyn Center none...and my local (St. Louis Park) a ton. I also saw several Columbia/TriStar titles at SLP tagged $4. They were unfamiliar and I forgot to bring along a copy of the master list, so I don't know if these are new studio titles or merely mis-priced. I can confirm "Once Upon a Time in the Midlands", so Ken you can embolden it on the list.

Yeah, found this one last night as well. The shrinkwrapping was in questionable condition, but I picked it up anyway. Security stickers were untouched, as far as I can tell.

This reminded me that I've been meaning for some time to see Le Dernier Combat (Luc Besson's 1st film).
I just checked Dvdpricesearch and the least expensive that they show is $27 at Amazon or at Walmart.com!

So wow, this has inspired me to finally get off my ass and make the drive over to Big Lots and see what they have. Thanks.

Ok people, I think I have the Big Lots sickness! I went to two local stores again today, and once again found new stuff to buy. I picked up nine DVDs for me, and two more to stick in the Big Lots trade thread in the exchange forum. Here is my haul for today - first off, what I bought for myself:

-Broken Wings
-The Devil Commands
-Double Vision
-Fat City
-The Luzhin Defence
-The Matinee Idol & Frank Capra's American Dream
-The Red Dwarf
-Respiro
-Secret Ballot

And the two I picked up for trade:

-Le Dernier Combat
-The Man Without a Past

My BL total so far is 43 DVDs bought for myself, along with four doubles I've picked up to trade or whatever.

I just got back from my local one because they advertise new stuff coming out on Wednesday, but once again - nada. They had some new VHS tapes of Black Knight and One-Hour Photo. I'm going to have to try a different location.

I've seen Monsier Ibrahim.

It's a good movie.

"And the hits just keep on coming." Found at the Coon Rapids store this morning:

"Advertising Rules"
"The Debut"
"Goodbye Lenin"
"How To Make A Monster"
"Once A Thief"

So Ken, more confirmations for the master list.

Stopped by a BL today before work and was surprised they evidently had just gotten some DVD's in as there hasn't been anything in the last month or so. Most of the titles were ones BrettLumkin had picked up on 4/4, and the ones docdoowop got yesterday.

Going to check the other two stores in town today to see if they got shipments also.

I've been told that the best time to check for new stock is either late Friday or on Saturday. It seems to be true for my area at least.

So when are some of you going to take a picture of all of your Big Lots DVDs and post it in this thread?

My stores all receive stock by truck on Fridays. Most say they rack the DVDs by Sunday or Monday.

Thanks. Updated!

I also corrected Mifune 1.33:1 as the intended format.

I saw a few more new Sony titles recently, that were unfortunately 1.33:1. December is the only one I recall right now (note to self: write down new DVDs @ BL). And some of them were listed at $4.99. I got a bad feeling that the prices are increasing

I don't think they are raising the prices. When I go, I always see a bunch of $2 DVDs, and a bunch of $4.99 DVDs as well. It's been that way since the Big Lots madness started.

If all of them were $4.99, I wouldn't have bought almost any of the ones that I've picked up for $2 at BL.

I've only bought one $4.99 DVD in all of the ones I've picked up there.

Wow, I went to Big Lots today and their pathetically small DVD stand was not even stocked with ANY DVDs any more! I looked on all four sides and all they have now are VHS tapes and PC CD-ROM games.

Last time I went I got a pretty decent haul of the $2 titles. I was pleased also though to find and buy A Very Long Engagement (2 disc) for $4.99. Some other ones were tempting like About Schmidt. They can have some good $4.99 ones.

Don't be too sure about that. I just got back from my closest BL and found these - I wrote everything down this time

About Last Night (1.33:1) - $4.99

Barabbas (2.35:1) - $4.99

Greatest, The: Muhammad Ali (1.85:1 & 1.33:1) - $4.99

My Life (1.33:1) - $4.99

Juror, The (1.33:1) - $4.99

Into Thin Air (1.33:1 - TV) - No price tag

Order, The (1.33:1) - $4.99

Moscow On The Hudson (1.33:1) - $4.99

Principal, The (1.33:1) - $4.99

Iron Eagle (1.33:1) - $4.99

Most of these are foolscreen and they don't appear to be OOP according to dvdempire.com - they are all new to the list.

Maybe Sony has raised the price to BL since these are more mainstream movies compared to the independent/foreign that we're used to. Just a thought.

Ken Cline, that has to be one of the worst lists of films I have ever seen. I'd cringe in agony seeing those available to buy probably.

Mine had some good titles as I discussed like the 2 disc of A Very Long Engagement.

The best part was my Big Lots had them all in a glass case and I had to get someone to open it, she some reason sat on the floor the whole time while I had to navigate myself over her head look through them. Sheesh right? $2 dvd's are a Big Lots priority.

I've seen those at the $4.99 mark for months now as well. I've just never mentioned those before, since I was never interested in them. I think all of the indie, foreign, and classic films that we're really interested in will remain $2 and will not go up in price. I'll only get worried once I see those types of flicks at $4.99, or when DVDs I've already seen at $2 are raised to $4.99.

Yeah, I think there are two different groups. Like I said, it's been like this for a long time in my area.
