Glad to get notice of this sale! Thanks to it, I'll be able to complete my Highlander TV show collection.

I thought I got a great deal when I bought seasons one through four during the 20 percent off sale for $23.99. Now I'm able to grab seasons five and six for just $15 each!

I think they're both backordered. Hopefully it won't take too long to get them. I've only got about 8 eps to go in S4.

starman9000 08-25-06 09:35 PM

Weird, the dvdplanet sale isn't working now. I hope it isn't over for them. The banner is still there, but the titles are gone.

It's based on your credit rating and is subject to approval. Usually, less than $100 is a good price to start out at. If you keep payments current and the running balance low, they will raise your limit.

How do they determine what ships when? I'm not in a hurry or anything, but just curious.

DVDsAreMyLIFE 08-26-06 06:31 PM

Update for anyone, looks like none of the Highlanders are currently in stock, thinking about placing my order anyways.

and I would assume it's like opening a credit line account or store retail credit account, which dings your credit report whether or not your order gets accepted--something to think about.

I ordered Hercules Seasons Four and Five on the 21st. They arrived today. As usual, wonderful service from DDD. To top it off, no floaters and no scuffs on the boxes. Incredible.

Any idea what happens if you order two out-of-stock items and one of them never becomes available?

Would assume you dont get it, since they don't charge you until they ship the item to you.

tonyc3742 08-26-06 08:18 PM

But what would you be charged? Regular price for one, and you're SOL on the other?

Thats an interesting idea, if you get the free one but not the one you paid for...not clue.

That would somewhat fit what happened to an order I had 2 weeks ago (non b1g1). I placed an order for a $5.98 & $6.05 title. The $6.05 shipped and the other dropped off my order (per confirmation) - no cancellation email. Item said "discontinued" when I check my order status. Looked for the item & got "product not found" message for DDD item #. Now, 2 weeks later, that same item re-appears on their site. If I hadn't ordered from someone else already (& received it), I'd probably try another go at it. Just forewarning(?).

tonyc3742 08-26-06 10:24 PM

Well, I would expect that, because unless there's a deal, every item is treated separately.
Some grocery stores, when doing B1G1 Free, will charge you full price if you only get one; others [Lowe's] charges each one half price [so it's the same as a halfprice sale, but most people think B1G1, so they get two, rather than just getting one at halfprice.] I would assume DDD would be more likely to do the former, but that would make an impact on my order decision--getting 4 dvd sets for, say, 60.00 is better than getting 3 for 60.00.

Peep 08-26-06 10:27 PM

I will not order if there is any chance that the full price one ships, I get charged full price and the "free" one never ships.

tonyc3742 08-26-06 10:29 PM

yeah...I waited too long, one of the things I wanted is out of stock. It's likely it'll come back in stock, but I don't want to risk it.

That happened to a bunch of people a few months back when DDD had a buy-2-get-1 sale on Fox titles. Elia Kazan's Boomerang was available for preorder as part of the sale, but Fox canceled the release at the last second. DDD allowed people to substitute other films from the sale.

Scott Connors 08-27-06 04:24 AM

All six seasons of XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS for <$90!!
Then another order with the EALING COMEDY COLLECTION and CARRY ON Collection (gotta get yer MDR of Vitamin Brit);
and a final order of both seasons of TRIPPING THE RIFT.

All for under two bills.

Among other DVD sets, I got the Hunter Season 2 set. But when I checked it out, it had 2 copies of disc 6 - and was missing disc 5.

Anyone else have a problem like that? I've bought zillions of Anchor Bay DVDs and this is the first time something like this has happened.

Thanks for the heads-up. When I get my set this week I'll check it out.
