Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I found at the downtown SF Ross the other day:

Gods and Generals/Gettysburg 2 in 1 set (haven't opened it, but I think it's 2 discs). 3.99
New Jack City 2 disc 3.99
Dog Day Afternoon 2 disc (been hoping this would come through) 3.99
Citizen Kane 2 disc 7.99
Mutiny on the bounty 2 disc 3.99
Every Which Way But Loose 3.99

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

They had a few copies of College Road Trip, The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody: Sweet Suite Victory, and some That's So Raven DVD for $4.99 each. Good if you are trying to get more Disney Movie Rewards points!

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I saw multiple copies of the 4 disc Wizard Of Oz deluxe set (the large green package one) for 29.99 at the SF Downtown Ross. But it wasn't with the movies, it was in the far right corner of the toy section.

I've already got most of those separately, but the Garbo box does look tempting!

Marshall's had them for $24.99 (the bar codes were slashed). I have two different versions of the movie on DVD in addition to the VHS versions that I have so I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on this set.

The collectible watch and postcards, etc. are nice enough but I still haven't found a good place for my Blade Runner brief case nor my Showgirls big box. With thousands of DVD's and even more VHS, these presentation pieces are less appealing to me every day and $24.99(or $29.99) just isn't a good enough deal for me to pull the trigger.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Hit the local Ross at opening today. The dvd rack was a MESS, so they must not straighten or stock before opening. I wish I could get an honest answer from the clerks as to what days & time they usually do stock. Nothing new since the other day & the TCM set was gone. All the other boxes were still sitting, maybe they'll get a clue & lower prices to where they were 2-3 months ago.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

How many have seen the Greta Garbo box set? Is it common at the stores or hard to find? Where has it been seen. I am very interested in it even at that price. It is a little more than $3 a movie at that price. It is selling for about $75 elsewhere. One of the most expensive Signature Collections out. The Hitchcock Collection is the only one that is more expensive.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I haven't see Garbo box set, but surprised that different box sets show up at my local BL on almost a weekly - if not daily basis. One day the LOTR sets with figurines. the next day the Notebook deluxe edition, the next day Angels and Demons deluxe edition, Batman 4 movie anthology. etc. All I can advise is to go on a frequent basis - you never know what you may find!

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I do go to Ross' often but I have noticed that some regions get stuff sooner than others. I would be interested in knowing where this set has been seen.

I had seen nothing but the single disc....today, found the 2 disc version. Same Canadian release as described above.

Oh.....Passed on this one....it was in some big packaging!!! $29.95

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

THE way to get the Woodstock complete at a good price is amazon.UK The price has gone up to 12 pounds (I got it for 9 or 10 when it came out), but it has ALL the "bonus material" that was spread between 2 or 3 exclusive store's editions in the US.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Thanks to whoever brought up the Garbo box set - went to the Ross in central Phoenix, AZ and they had one copy that I snatched up. I also saw multiple copies of the LOTR Two Towers box, a Frank Sinatra set, one deluxe Wizard of Oz, Dukes of Hazzard S2 and a TCM Classic Films Romance set.

Found the Fred Astaire. Already have it. Got the Laurel and Hardy 4 disc set with 2 movies and about 12 shorts.

I was able to find a copy , it was the last and had a little scratch on the side but beside that its perfect. I'm glad i got it even for $30 because the prices for the individual releases are pretty high on amazon so it would have probably taken me a while to get them all at Big Lots

Considering that there are 9 seasons included, that's a pretty good price... about $5.55 per season which beats Big Lots price of $6 per season (and I believe you can only find a few select seasons at Big Lots).

However, I haven't watched Hawaii Five-O since I was a kid so I don't know if I'd like it enough now to justify $50 for all 9 seasons. If I run across it at Ross, I'm not sure if I'll buy it or not.

Do you mean Miami Vice? I saw that one, and Hawaii Five-O hasn't been completely released yet.
