They had free shipping going on during the last sale so the shipping refunds werent an issue. They didn't charge for the actual item until it was shipped though.

I just received in the mail the one DVD I bought from Tower. I'm pretty surprised by how fast it came. I had received the shipping confirmation on Thursday. The physical quality of the DVD is fine, with just a few light scratches on the DVD case. Plus, it came with some coupon codes, one of which is expired, another which expires tomorrow...

I just received my copy of 8 1/2. The case had a small hole in the front, but aside from that (and the annoying sticker that says USED) it seems to be in great condition.

The copy of 1984 I ordered for $3.99 came today. It's in great shape because it's NEW. It's shrinkwrapped with original security stickers on top, bottom, and side. It has a red "Played Before" sticker on it. This disc has been going for almost $100 lately and is getting hard to find. I can't believe I got it for $3.99.

Yes, I got mine today, too, but I still have not heard any word on the adjusted shipping cost, even though the rest of the order was cancelled (I got that email). I got the coupon codes, too. But too bad they do not work on used items.

Is the used DVD sale still going? Last I checked I did not see the link on Tower's site. So how regular are these? Do you just have to check every morning to see if it's on and if they have used stock?

The last used DVD sale at Tower.com was in mid-February. So they are not a regular thing.

Just got my order, consisting of Rocky Anthology and Seinfeld Season 1 and 2 boxset. The Seinfeld was brand new and still shrinkwrapped, so A+ on that one.

The Rocky Anthology is in great condition, and would be a slam-dunk, except that there are two Rocky IV's, and no Rocky V. Not such a bad thing as I didn't really like Rocky V, but it kinda ruins an "anthology". Anyway, I'll call on Monday and should get some sort of credit.

Otherwise, Tower came through again with used product in excellent condition.

I now fully except my Black Hawk Down Deluxe to be backordered and cancelled. I'll probably send an email Monday.

And to think, I had this in my bag right before you ordered it.

Next time, I'm just gonna start ordering as soon as I see a title, even if I end up with 10 different orders.

Sorry about that. I did place an order as soon as I saw it. I was looking for Criterions so I sorted by name and bam, 1984 was one of the first titles in the list. I didn't mind paying an extra 2.95 shipping for that one DVD. When I went back through the list, I couldn't find any Criterions or other titles I wanted.

I bought it because I want the movie but I'm tempted to sell it since the prices are so high. Is there any word of a new release of 1984 or why it went OOP in the first place? I'll probably just keep it but I'll be kicking myself if a new one is released a few months from now.

Hell, who knows if Sony will rerelease it now that they own it. I've been seeing a lot of MGM rereleases with new covers lately, though....Lord Of Illusions and Pumpkinhead to name a few.

If you do sell it, let me know how much you get for it, so I can bash my head in a few more times.

I called tower and they said that if I return them I will get a full refund, including return shipping, but what a letdown. If yours was 'Packed by #8', you probably got all the discs that I didn't get.

Damn, I got my response from Tower.com about my Black Hawk Down 3-disc. They said they don't have anymore in stock. I may as well not cancel it so if they ever do get one in, I get it. It can't hurt.

I didn't get many DVDs I ordered, and I hoped the same and even asked about it. I also asked when this sale would return. Here's the response I got:

If you placed an order at Tower, and only got a partial shipment, check the invoice to see how much you were charged for shipping. I placed an order for about a dozen DVDs, and 5 for them were out of stock. They kept my order open for a month, and eventually canceled the unfilled part.

However, when my package was shipped, I was charged the full amount for shipping. I had to contact Tower Records and ask them to refund the shipping charge for the canceled items.

So check our records and make sure you weren't charged for unshipped items.
