Thank you. I went with Ali and Young Mr. Lincoln. Too many people in this thread alone have mentioned how great Ali is and I have wanted Young Mr. Lincoln for awhile now...

The two Olmis will have to wait until the 20% off sale. Also picked up the Malle set and a few of the $5.99 Buena Vista titles.

But that's it. Definitely. For Now.

I tried to keep my total under $100 so here's what I got.

Closely Watched Trains - $16.47

The Devil & Daniel Webster - $21.97
Shoot the Piano Player - $21.97
The Testament of Dr. Mabuse - $21.97

Total - $98.85

Not bad at all.

Yep me too... but his films got too political later on.... and hence why i gave TOUT VA BIEN a temporary miss.

Pity I couldnt fit TIREZ SUR LA PIANISTE into the budget.... Love that film....

My preorder of The Complete Mr. Arkadin shipped the other day. Anyone else have that happen? Seems a bit...early. Not that I'm complaining

My Arkadin may or may not have shipped. The order status page looks to me like it almost shipped, but they caught and stopped it at the last minute. (Shipped date = 04/07/06. Amount shipped = 0.)Meanwhile, I do have the charge for it pending on my statement, so who knows.

I already received the complete order I placed last Saturday. Exactly one week, that was fast.

But I'm still waiting on 3 titles I ordered during the Sony/Columbia $5.98 sale on 03/09/06.

Never done so many blind buys. But they're all stuff I've been wanting to see for sometime.

My pre-order of Arkadin shipped today. Unfortunately, I pre-ordered it months ago so I get it for the $39.98 price instead of the current sale price.

I've gone "Cronie-crazy" myself as of late, having blind-bought "Naked Lunch" Criterion. I already owned "The Fly" and "The Brood", so I got "Scanners", "Videodrome" Criterion, and the Alliance Canadian SE of "eXistenZ", as well. Not going to get "The Dead Zone", "Rabid", or "Crash", but if I ever come across "Shivers" or "Dead Ringers" in my pawn shop travels. they'll be mine. [waynecampbell] Oh yes, they will be mine.[/endwaynecampbell]

Got my 4th and final title from the deal, DePalma's "Sisters".

Went ahead and placed my second and final order. I got some Easter money, and also used the $100 I put back monthly for the DDD sale, since these titles were cheaper or the same prices they would be in June.

LE MILLION
PICKUP ON SOUTH STREET
BLACK ORPHEUS
DIABOLIQUE
BOB LE FLAMBEUR
A NOUS LA LIBERTE
FORBIDDEN GAMES
LES DAMES DU BOIS DE BOULOGNE
DIARY OF A CHAMBERMAID
UNDER THE ROOFS OF PARIS
I FIDANZATI
THE NAKED KISS

Diary of a Chambermaid was listed as OOS, so hopefully they don't try to jack the price up on me when they ship it. I didn't see anything about "While supplies last," only "Quantities limited."

My not-so-adventurous order:

My Man Godfrey
The Third Man

I haven't even begun to dabble in foreign film and I can't afford to blind buy right now, otherwise my order might have been larger. I love MMG but the purchase was more of an impulse one: I'm really hoping the picture/extras are worth the extra price over one of those bargain bin discs.

I've been thinking about making another order before the sale ends but the three titles I'm most interested in (Ikiru, Kind Hearts and Coronets, and High and Low) are all cheaper at DVDPlanet's regular prices than DDD's sale prices.

I'm also thinking about Fanny & Alexander but I'm not sure it's something I'd rewatch so it'd be kinda wasteful to buy it...

Op 13, you won’t be disappointed with My man Godfrey. I have seen image comparisons between the criterion and other releases, and the criterion looks so much cleaner. The commentary track is good, the radio show is fun, and the DVD features actual outtakes with Carole Lombard cursing! I love this DVD so much and watch this film at least twice a year. My man Godfrey is probably my favorite screwball comedy of all time! If you like screwball comedies, you might also consider 3 other great Criterion films, Sullivan’s travels, the lady Eve, and Trouble in paradise (it starts out slowly, but then becomes quite funny).

Just got Chasing Amy at BB for $14.99. I didn't see it on the list at DDD, might be worth a trip if you are looking for that Criterion also.
