ill, I think most people were taking it in a lighter, Fast-Times-At-Ridgemont-High-100-Percent-Of-My-Foot sort of way. The guy sounds like a prick, but in a laughable Steve-Dave kind of way. Bigger wonder to me is why the guy in line wouldn't just take the $5 exchange.

Back on topic, Athens, AL Sam Goody store is down to 5 days and 70% off DVDs. After not much, I found a cache of things in the floor next to a cabinet. Picked up Smallville S4, Simpsons S5 and S7, and Hellboy DC. After checking out, I noticed one of the employees was scrambling, putting all the DVDs on the floor back in the cabinet. The cashier asked, " You think we should put that out?" "No, man, this is Tammy's." "All that's Tammy's?!? Whoops." Whoops indeed. Sorry, Tammy.

Nice score! I figured that a few of the employees at the local SG were doing the same thing (putting stuff aside). I don't blame them if they did. But I would see a box set here or one there mysteriously appear every few days. I just figured that they DID hold them back but later decided against buying them.

If Sam Goody had handled "normal business" as well as they handled this going-out-of-business sale, they might still be in business.

Just got back from the Sam Goody in Wayne Hills Mall, NJ. They are down to 70% on new items, and have 3 days left. Very meager selection of DVDs, mostly just music and anime. I managed to find The Eye and Z Channel which were $7.50 each. There was a decent amount of CDs left. I spent $59 in total on nearly $200 worth of CDs and DVDs.

The Suncoast at Collin Creek Mall in Plano closes tomorrow (Saturday). The store is near empty with only 3 shelves of scattered DVDs and some anime and few TV boxsets left. They had several copies of The Godfather Part 2 ($6) available. I bought Pickpocket ($12), An Angel at My Table ($12), and Hoop Dreams ($9) Criterions and also Herzog's Wheel of Time ($7.50).

Went by the Montgomery Mall Sam Goody in Bethesda, MD. They are up to 70% as well, and 80% off used. They close for good on 4/22 at 5pm. They had some interesting CDs left, and a few boxsets. Very few DVDs, some concerts and music video, plus those budget horror collections. They did have four of the Seinfeld S5/S6 gift boxes for $36 down from $120. There were a few other TV shows left as well.

I just picked up a bunch of CDs.

Today is the last day at the Aventura, FL Suncoast and they had not changed their discounts. A lot of Anime and Horror left. I asked what they were doing with the remaining stock after the store closes and they said they are packing it up and moving it to another store.

The Coral Springs and Dadeland stores will remain open.

Tim :-)

Just returned from the Suncoast in the Main Place Mall in Santa Ana. They are at 70% for new DVDs and CDs and 80% off used DVDs. They have really sold A LOT of stuff since I was there last Sunday. Very limited selection in every category. I carried a Criterion "Pickpocket" for a while but ended up putting it back since I've never seen it. There was a sign up that said 4 days left so I'm thinking this was my last visit.

I also picked up 8 albums for around $5 each and there were a lot of solid titles left.
I completely forgot to hit the Suncoast in Circle Centre when I was in the downtown area today! I did stop by the Castleton store on my wasy back to Fort Wayne however. They had nothing worth mentioning left on their shelves in terms of DVDs or CDs, but I did pick up a cheap strategy guide and a McFarlane figure that I've had my eye on for a while. I think they said their last day open was this coming Wednesday (4/19). The manager on duty was also saying that all Indiana locations would be closing, so I'm wondering when they'll start the sale at the store here in FW.

Pentagon City Suncoast went to 30%, so I picked up
Eddie Izzard: Definite Article, $13.99
Lifeboat: SE, $13.99
TheHidden/The Hidden 2, $6.99

I checked the prices online, and the Suncoast 30% discounts are cheaper than DDD's regular prices. The store is still very well stocked. Hopefully, it still will be when the discount goes to 40-50%, and the Criterions become competitively priced.

Damn, the Waterford, CT store finally started their sale and everything's now at 30%. I jumped for joy upon finding a huge section of Christmas DVDs including about 10+ copies of A Christmas Story and tons of others, but much to my chagrin, none of the Xmas stuff is 70% off. EVERYTHING is 30.

Yep, went by there and picked up Save the Green Planet, Spiral, The Fog of War for a couple of bucks each.

The Bayside Suncoast in downtown Miami had the "7 days left" sign and were at 70% off but had barely anything left, even all the Seinfeld sets were gone.

The Suncoast closest me went to 80-90% off. It has 5 days left. I planned to buy the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes Vol. 3 MPI set, but it was gone. I should have picked it up last weekend when it was still there. I did pick up two cds: Queens of the Stone Age's Over the Years and Through the Woods and the Deluxe Edition of The Harder They Come soundtrack for around ten dollars. I am pretty sure that will be the last time I visit any of the Suncoasts that are closing near me.

Parkway Place Sam Goody (Huntsville, AL) is at 80-90% off everything. Picked up Intervista for $6. The rest is a pretty poor sight, save the 5,000 or so copies of Godfather II they have.

Today is the last day for the Sam Goody store in the Springfield Mall in suburban Philadelphia. Discounts were 80-90% last evening but there wasn't much left, maybe a 100 DVDs or so: B-movies that I've never heard of, some music/concert DVDs and anime. There were quite a few CDs left but mostly by people/bands that I've never heard of, though I was able to pick up a copy of The Rolling Stones' "Bigger Bang" CD for $3.99.

Anyone been to the Milwaukee area stores lately? I don't know if they closed yet. If they are still open and at 80-90%, I need to take a drive up there...

I went to the one in Racine on Monday and they were at 30% off and had a pretty decent selection still. I did see that they had a bunch of stuff on hold behind the counter, but i could clearly see that it said hold for 24 hours, so you could probably convince them to sell some of those too.

Called the local (Greenville, SC) Suncoast and no one answered. Then called Sam Goody in the same mall and today was their last day. They said to hurry and come over to see what was left. Nothing much - but 90% off got me to splurge on some different titles (some I've heard of - others I haven't).

As I and a few others were looking around they were actually not letting people in and had the security gate halfway down.

Save the Tiger - $1.49
Together (Swedish film) - $1.49 (supposed to be $1.99)
Wishing Stairs (Asia Extreme) - $2.49
Invincible (Herzog/Tim Roth) - $2.69
American Movie - $2.79
Stage Beauty - $2.79
Schultze Gets the Blues - $2.79

Really random titles, but if I want to sell them I'll get my money back easily. Wish I had gone when they had just started going down to 70-90%.
