I got Almost Famous Bootleg Cut for $8.99 yesterday. I chickened-out on trying to use the coupon too.

I managed to snag the last copy of Almost Famous at $8.99 without any hassles. The clerk just called the CSM up to adjust the price. Now we'll see what they say when my order of Karate Kid comes in.

Same thing happened to me today, but I got them to take the 25% coupon too. So, I got the Almost Famous Bootleg Cut for $7.16 w/ tax! I'm very happy.

Considering how nice the manager was, I didn't use the 25% coupon I had ready. He was so nice about the whole thing, I felt slightly bad about taking advantage. But not bad enough to make the purchase, of course. :)

To get $8.99 price, the manager simply checked a kiosk. It agreed with my printout and all was gravy. He said it was obviously a mistake in the database, but that I could have it for the price anyhow. Cool.

Scored Almost Famous with no hassle whatsoever.

was denied at my store on the KK collection. They gave me the line about "in store pricing may vary". Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

You know, I think they don't fight enough on Almost Famous because it's one movie. When the guy saw this was box set, I think that's what made him kick into defenseive mode.

Well that sucks. I tried to order a copy of Almost Famous to be sent to my local store and received an e-mail saying "Thank you for your online special order request (or pre-order if the item has not yet been released). Unfortunately we are unable to place an order for the item you selected at this time."

If I was willing to drive 45 minutes to get it, it is available at a Borders there.

anyone successfull in karate kid... today is the last day of my reserve and i wonder if it is worth my time, i did do almost famous at another store where i tried unsucessful to apply the coupon on top but i didnt really push it

I got my copy of Almost Famous at Borders today. At first the clerk was hesitant, but then he just gave it to me for $8.99. Didn't try to push it with the 25% off coupon. i hope my wife likes this movie though; because I didnt care much for the trailer I saw when it was in the theatres.

Almost Famous is one of my favorites. Definitely the peak of Kate Hudson's career. Billy Crudup and Jason Lee are excellent as always, and this is probably Crowe's best film after Say Anything. $9 is well spent on this set, PLUS you get two versions of the film.

Tried to get Almost Famous from Borders in Sterling, Va. and someone must have already been there.

I placed an order for in-store pickup and got a reply mail stating they did not have any at this location. I went there anyways and sure enough they had one copy on the shelf. I picked it up and went to the counter and explained to the lady I just placed an order for this online and it said they were out. She said "Yes, when we are down to one copy it will show as being out of stock".

I shook my head and said that was dumb and went into my attempt to convince her I should be getting it for 8.99 since that is what the website showed.

The lady knew exactly what I was doing and refused to sell it to me. She took it from me and put it under the counter and said "There is no way I am selling this for 8.99". I didn't even bother trying to push it, she was deadset on not selling it to me, so I just walked out.

I will try again at a different location.

They finally received my special order so I went to the store to pick it up but they wouldn't sell it to me at the price stated. I had the original printout but the lady looked the price up online and told me it must have just been an error that had been fixed. Oh well, I'm much happier with my copy of Almost Famous.

I printed out the page w/the $8.99 from one of their kiosks, but the salesguy called his asst. mgr. who in turn called her mgr. They were pleasant about the whole thing, but obviously caught off-guard and confused. Offered me the disk for 10% off even though I was using the 25% coupon for another item and then tried to sell me the other version of the film. Passed on both, but was pleased with the customer service at the Cucamonga, CA store.

I just scored Almost Famous Bootleg Edition for $8.99 at the Meyerland Borders in Houston. I had very little hassle at the check out, but the DVD was scanned at the price of $8.99 so all was well. The manager didn't even come over.

*Thousand Oaks Borders* I originally went in Monday to pick up my reserved copy but they wouldn't honor the price mistake. So I told the Manager to continue holding it till I returned with the 20% off coupon. Went back today and to my surprise it rang up for $8.99?! The cashier also applied the 20% coupon without saying a word - $7.99 out the door :hump:

I wonder if this is the difference between them scanning the Borders label vs. the actual UPC. I would remove the Borders sticker so they have to scan the UPC.

I am glad I was able to grab one since all other stores in Houston don't have it in store. BTW, I saw this Bootleg Edition sell on ebay higher than Borders' list price of $33.99.

Btw, What's the story with their own label? All the cashiers seem to scan those labels rather than the UPC.

I got a copy of <b>Almost Famous</b> from the local store the other day for $8.99, when the manager agreed to the price on the website thinking it was a price drop as opposed to an error - but it seems they have corrected the misprice, now showing $33.99.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
