Yeah, I had a feeling that was a price mistake.

Well, I think I went a little crazy with this sale. In addition to the AB titles, I also picked up 2 other box sets that I have been meaning to get. Thanks OP for the heads up! Looking at this now, 5 of the 9 things I orderd has the word "dead" in their title. Guess I like zombie flicks much more than I thought!

Fright Pack - The Walking Dead
Zombi Dawn of the Dead
Season of the Witch
Day of the Dead 2: Contagium
The Fallen Ones
The Locals
Evil Dead 2: Book of the Dead Limited Edition
Hammer Horror Series
The Blind Dead Collection - Limited Edition

I wanted to pick up the Children of the corn 20th anniversary edition, but it says the aspect ratio is full frame. However, Amazon lists it as widescreen. Is it a mistake on DDD's part?

It is a mistake on their part, because it's in anamorphic widescreen.

I'm so stupid. I had Suspiria LE in my cart for 4 days, and I didn't order it. Now it's doubled in price from $7.19 to $14.39, 20% off the $17.xx price they normally sell it for.

I also missed out on the Silent Night Deadly Night double feature that was $7.19. Now it's $9.59.

Can anyone tell me if The Locals is any good and perhaps what sort of movie it would be comparable to? I've heard mixed things about it.

Also, I have the U.K. Region 2 Anchor Bay box set of all 3 Evil Dead films with the 4th bonus disc. So, are there any extras on the Book of the Dead versions of Evil Dead 1 or 2 that aren't on that set or the other region 1 releases that would be worth buying them for, or are they pretty much just cool for the special packaging and no other extras? Any info on this would be much appreciated.

*ahem*

I told you to order sooner!

Check out these DVD reviews:

There are new extras included on this new Evil Dead 2 Book of the Dead set. Here is what I believe is totally new:

-Sam Raimi's Storyboards
-A Very Dangerous Stunt
-Farewell To Arms
-Evil Ed's Lost Scene

Check out this thread, especially post #109 and on, it has pictures and all kinds of details about it:

I say unload the R2 box set, get both Book of the Dead releases, and then we'll more than likely get one for Army of Darkness in the next year or so.

I was trying to review other titles and make one more larger purchase after I looked into everything. I'll still probably pick up a couple titles, but Suspiria is out now. I've had both versions of it before already though, so it's no biggie. After reading the dvdtalk review for The Dead Next Door, it looks like that's gonna be a no-brainer blind buy.

I picked up Suspiria LE for the $7.19 price as well as the Fright Pack- Walking Dead for $16.79, fo a total of $23.98. Both of these are blind buys for me, but I LOVE cheesy gore/ horro movies so it should be a real treat...

Looks like they have two versions of Suspiria, one for $8.99 and the LE for $14.39 - both are out of stock at this moment. Was surprised to find the normal edition has Sound Format: 5.1 EX / 6.1 DTS ES and Screen Format: LBX / 16:9.

A lot of places carry Suspiria for about $1 more, but you need to watch shipping.

How does DDD ship orders? Do they ship out individual items as they're ready or do they wait until everything is in and then send it out?

Whatever they have they ship. Anything left is shipped as it arrives in stock.

You dodged a bullet there. It hasn't aged well at all.

Really? I've never seen them. I remember I used to always see them in my old video store, and I almost rented them a bunch of times just because I thought the idea of a killer Santa Claus might be cool. I think they made like half a dozen sequels.

Thanks for the heads up. I got:

FRIGHT PACK-WALKING DEAD
FRIGHT PACK-MAN'S WORST FRIENDS
NEAR DARK
NIGHT OF THE DEMONS
SUSPIRIA - LIMITED EDITION
SEASON OF THE WITCH
DEEP RED

According to DDD, none of them are in stock, so who knows when they'll show up.

How are Cat O'Nine Tails and Dead and Breakfast? I'm a big fan of Argento's giallos like Deep Red, Tenebrae, and The Bird With the Crystal Plummage, but I don't really like his more supernatural stuff like Suspiria and Phenomena.

I haven't seen many reviews for Dead and Breakfast, and the cover art's claim to be America's answer to Shaun of the Dead doesn't really excite me that much.

Thanks

Got my order today..

They came ok, but when I took off the security stickers, well, they did not come off real easy (ruined some of the packaging trying to take them off).

Cat definitely falls into the Giallo category. I like it better than Deep Red and Tenebrae (I hated Tenebrae), but not as much as 'Bird'. Karl Malden stars, which is one of the few A-list actors Argento worked with, so it's interesting.
