Woodland Hills, CA Target is a GO GO GO after all.

Since I read the original post wrong (like an idiot, I read cheap DVDs at Target and BOLTED out the door without getting a list of what was for the offering), I apparently scanned every DVD set that WASN'T $5.99 (like Wonder Woman S3 and Smallville). I then came back and reported a negative.

An hour ago, I actually had to go BACK to the store to pick something else up (sue me, it's the nearest store for me to hit) and decided to try again (now knowing which titles to check out).

This time I hit gold! I picked up:

Friends Seasons 4-6-7-8-9
Sex and the City Seasons 1-2-3-5-6.2
The OC (2 copies)
One Tree Hill
Buffy Seasons 1 & 7
Fantastic Four Animated Series
Batman Animated Series 3
Looney Tunes Gold Collection 1 & 2
Band of Brothers (All 3 copies they had because they're EACH going to good homes).

They still had plenty of Sex and the City, Friends, Little House, Gilmore, Buffy, Miami Vice and A LOT of the other ones posted here.

I used the various check out methods (as to not arouse suspicion) and each time, the clerk said "Hey, What great deals!" or "I didn't know we had a sale going on."

Only the Security Guard who checked bags gave me an eyebrow.

GET THEM NOW!

Andrew

Regular Prices at Lynnwood, WA. To my surprise it was actually stocked fairly well. All well, at least I can sleep knowing I tried.

No luck in Fergus Falls, MN. Everything was regular price and on the shelves. And for the record, it had those fancy price scanners.

Edit: I guess I didn't check some stuff like Looney Tunes and Pocahontas, though. As far as we can tell, is there any chance those would've been the $5.99 even though other stuff like BoB, Buffy, Jaws, and the OC weren't?

No dice in Hendersonville, TN. Going to check Rivergate Mall though. Let you know.

Update:
Limited success at Rivergate Mall Target.

The Score:
Fantastic Four 1994-95 Season
Batman AS V. 3
Little House on the Prairie S 8
(2) Joan of Arcadia S 1

None of the BIG series were marked down (Sopranos, BoB, Friends, etc). In fact when I went back to supplement my score, the employees were clearing off the shelf that had the remaining above discs. I think there was another cutomer with me that talked about the good deal a little too much to the clerk.

I'm guessing that this will effectively bury some of the resale value of these box sets. Or at the very least flood the market for a few weeks.

I went with low expectations, but returned with three copies of Band of Brothers, and one copy each of Monk: Season 3 and The OC: Season 1 from the Target in Sherman, TX. Thanks DVD Talk!

Both St. Cloud, MN Targets had a ton of stock but no deal. I'm hoping this floods the eBay market on some of these sets and I'll be able to pick up a decent deal there.

No luck in Bloomington, IN, at least for Joan of Arcadia and Fantastic 4, which were the ones I really wanted. They also have the fancy price scanners. Interesting to note, the scanners weren't working at all when I punched in the numbers for the DPCIs, but when I scanned the actual items, they showed regular price.

I went to my local Target and all the scanners were out of order, so I took a copy of Rescue Me Season 1 and Sex and the City Season 1 to a register and asked the cashier to scan them for me. Rescue Me was $39, but SatC was $5.99. I grab some more season of SatC and went to the cashier in the video dept. I told her that all the scanners were down on the floor could she please give me the prices. She scanned 1, picked up the phone and when she hung up she walked me over to the display and pointed at the price $29.99. She then whispered a worker "TJ, take all the Sex and the City off the floor" and walked away. TJ was a bit to slow and I grabbed 8 different copies and checked out without a problem. I went back and grabbed some Friends Sets too.

I went back to the Target im Brooklyn, NY that I went to this morning hoping that their scanners would be working. The scanners were working, but the self were bare. All the Friends, OC, SatC, One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls were taken away. I happen to find a copy of Friends Season 4, One Tree Hill and Buffy Season 7 that rang up $5.99 hidden behind other titles.
