Same story here--

Mall of America Sears only offered the two pictured in the ad (Finding Neverland, Spanglish--both widescreen at least) and a handful of asst. reg. $9.99 MGM titles that are common and have been cheaper elsewhere.

3, maybe 4 copies of each title, nothing correctly signed or coming up at sale price on the register, and a prolonged wait until a manager could come by and override the price in the machine...an unfortunately normal Sears experience for me.
No receipt coupon either, which is ok, as I won't be back for a while.

THe old lady in front of me wanted her Biker Boyz and Scooby-Doo for $15, and she wanted it fast, as she had a hair appt. in 5 minutes. Otherwise she'd write to the Daily Herald.

No need to do so, the manager approval went through, situation averted.
Finding Neverland and Mary Poppins for me.

Nice for those that got it on this. It seems like there is no rhyme or reason here. My local Sears said the same thing as most here found: "only the titles pictured are 2 for $15. The sale is for a 'group' of titles and we didn't get those."

total BS! wasted half a trip. good thing I intended to go to the post office anyway.

This sucked for me. They didn't even have Spanglish or Finding Neverland. I wound up with Flight of the Phoenix and the Magnificent Seven for $15.

No luck with the other stores. At one location, I was on hold for 20 minutes. Twenty. I just put my cell on speakerphone and let it sit there, determined to be stubborn and not let them get the best of the situation. One store read off the list of titles in their week-long sale (Get Shorty, Good/Bad/Ugly, Die Another Day, and so forth)...the other simply said, "I don't know...a few select titles." I was like, "all of the titles $19.99 or less?" The answer to that was, "No, just a handful that we have in a specially marked section."

Meh.

When I got there about 9:30 am a guy had a bunch of titles and was asking about the sale. I waited and listened and they rang up his titles 2 for 15.00. So I got Jaws 30th Anniversary Edition with the Limited Edition 60 page book and Apollo 13 Anniversary Edition. Great deal if they did it for you.

Both Widescreen!!! Just checked Dvdpricesearch to check on the price and noticed they were both released with seperate WS and FS editions. Dont know what I would have if one or both were FS.

I must have pulled the old "hit the alarm and fall back asleep" trick, as I woke up around 9:45 this morning. I frantically rushed to Sears, who were out of the 3 or so copies they had in of both Spanglish and Finding Neverland. I grabbed an advertisement and hit up Circuit City, who pricematched both movies no problem.

I just got back from Sears with:
Incredibles
Sideways
Apollo 13
House Of Flying Daggers

The computer was not ringing these up correctly, and the first 2 csr's I talked to weren't able to override the prices or anything. So they had the manager come over, and after 10 minutes or so of checking the computer and making a few phone calls, he still did not know what titles were on sale. The computer was having issues, so they couldn't check, and there was no hardcopy list for them to reference. So, he ended up giving me the deal in the long run, but it took some persistence and hanging around the register for 10-15 minutes.
Good deal, but definitely YMMV. Be persistent, they seem to have no idea what's on sale.

those there the same titles (among others) that were sitting on the shelf of the store where they said they "didn't get the other select titles that were part of the sale."

I asked the manager and she told me to wait while she went to retrieve the "list" of other titles included in the sale. After waiting 10 minutes I was informed by another sales person that they would honor the sale for any titles under $19.99 - I quickly grabbed 8 titles and as it was being rung up, the manager re-appeared with "the list". Luckily she honored her word, but I don't think anyone else that goes to the Seattle Sears on Aurora is going to get the same deal. Sounded like the titles eligible were all $9.99 anyway... I guess today is my lucky day.

Spanglish
Finding Neverland
Sideways
The Incredibles
Team America
Hero
House of Flying Daggers
Stripes (Extended Edition)

Just came back from our local Sears and the manager there had no clue which titles are eligible for the 2 for $15 deal so she told me to go ahead and pick ANYTING I want as long as it's not over $19.99 (I didn't see any DVDs there worth more than $19.99 anyway). Of course I took advantage and here's what I got:

Alice In Wonderland (2-Disc Masterpiece Ed.) - w/o slipcase
Pocahontas 10th Anniv (2-Disc) - w/ slipcase
Mulan II (2-Disc) - w/ slipcase
The Incredibles (WS) - w/o slipcase
Aladdin Platinum Edition - w/ slipcase
Brother Bear (2-Disc)
National Treasure (WS)
Finding Neverland (WS)
Meet The Fockers (WS)
Ocean's Twelve (WS)
The Aviator (2-Disc WS)
Are We There Yet? (WS)
Disney's Princess Party Vol. 2 - suprisingly, they only charged me $2.50 for this title
Disney's Princess Stories Vol.2 - charged me $2.50 as well

** They ran out of Spanglish

Total: $99.75 (including tax) . Thanks for the heads up OP !

That was nice of Sears to have Jaws 30th Anni. out for me since it is not released until Tuesday, 6/14. I was wondering why nobody else picked that up.

My sears was only spanglish and finding neverland. They wouldn't do any other titles. I asked if I could just get spanglish for $7.50. She said she would ring it twice and then return one of them. So I got just spanglish for $7.50.

Well shoot, completely forgot about it, going to bed at 4 might have been a factor... Mine most likely wouldn't have offerered anything beyond the two titles advertised anyways. I'll just save my pennies for the DDD sale...

I should have asked at my Sears they were out of finding Neverland and Spanglish went to BB and price matched that is when the hassles began went to register she couldn't (her first week) do it needed a manager she forgot to swipe my rewards card and deleted everything so off to CS I went. Had to wait in line then guy finally rang it up and he needed a manager to change it took a good 15 minutes out of my life I will never get back. I guess all in all not worth the hassle just wish I would have asked at Sears which titles.

Definitely 'your mileage may vary'. The employees (and managers) at the store I went to didn't know what was going on.

Here's the situation with me this morning...

Got there around 8:20. I asked the guy behind the counter if he knew about the DVD sale (pointing at the ad), in particular, which were the other titles to choose from. He said he didn't know, but to just grab whatever and he'll check when he rings them up.
Brought up 6 DVDs but not one showed $7.50. I grabbed the 2 pictured in the ad (Finding Neverland & Splanglish) and those didn't ring up at the sale price either. He calls the manager. The manager asked, "Is there a bar code on the ad?", I said, "No."
By this time there were 3 others in line behind me with stacks of DVDs in their hands too.
The manager says she'll just have to override the prices but that the only ones they would honor would be the DVDs priced $19.99 and less (they didn't have anything priced higher than that anyway).
As the first employee was ringing me up (for the fourth time), the manager decides to call ANOTHER manager to find out what's going on. Just as my sales went through and was completed, the 2nd manager comes walking up to the counter saying, "OK. I've got a list of the titles that are allowed for this sale."
Needless to say, I grabbed my bag of DVDs, didn't look back, and walked (at a pace faster than I would normally) out the doors.

I hope the others in line got what they wanted, but here's what I grabbed:
Mary Poppins: 40th Anniversary
Lilo & Stitch
Mulan
Alone in the Dark
Team America World Police
Assault on Precinct 13
Finding Neverland
Spanglish

Total with CA tax = $64.95.

I wound up with Spanglish and Finding Neverland (FF only Wal-Mart didn't have Widescreen). I might not keep Finding Neverland, but for $7.50 I guess I can't complain. They both rang up at the normal $19.XX price and needed an override. CSM's come to electronics every week since I PM there with ads each and every Tuesday. CSM came, flicked the key, laughed that it was me there with an ad again, finished the sale, and I was out in 5 minutes.

Indeed I have.

Work is only 5 minutes from home and right next to the corporate center where I work is the Wal-Mart so it saves gas and time to go there than drive another 20 minutes to BestBuy each week unless there is something I want to get that I know Wal-Mart won't carry or doesn't stock like un-edited versions of CD's.

Sears

Went to Sears this morning, and got there when the doors opened. We went to the DVD section and there were no signs up saying which ones were included in the deal, so we just picked up a bunch that we wanted. At the register they were all ringing up for their regular price and the cashier called the manager who tried to say that it was only DVDs that are regularly priced at $9.99 and we said it wasn't possible because Spanglish and Finding Neverland are two that sell for $19.99. Eventually we won the dispute and the guy said to give only the people on line whichever ones we had in our hands and then after that, it's only good on $9.99 ones. So, my fiance and I ended up with:

Alone in the Dark
Darkness
Spanglish
Coyote Ugly (Unrated and Extended Cut)
Pocahontas (10th Anniversary Edition)
Elektra
Mr. 3000
XXX: Director's Cut
Stripes (Extended Cut)
Terminator 3

I would have bought HITCH too, which they had out, but the computer wouldn't let them sell it until the Tuesday release date (should have been the same for CASINO, but that one went through).

As a bonus, the register prints out a receipt with a $5 coupon good June 12-19. It's not good for DVDs though (not that I'm complaining, mind you).

You are damn-lucky, my friend.
