Actually, that's why I asked earlier if anyone tried calling Amazon. I called them up and the CSR was able to give me Cheers at the bargain price (minus another pi/2%). I was very nice and did not yell or scream. The CSR was about to offer me a $20 gift card but I said the DVD set was what I really want.

I still need to watch that. Pretty sure it is still in the shrinkwrap.

They cancelled my order, so I called and asked why they would cancel it as opposed to adjusting the price and letting me know. The CRS put me on hold for a second and said he'd give it to me for the misprice. I said thanks and that was that. I was tempted to write off Amazon thanks to their discontinuing of the Love program, but I'm so pleased at how this was handled that I think I'll stick around.

They cancelled my order without even having the courtesy of notifying me about it. I tried calling and emailing but Amazon basically told me tough luck and sorry even though I was very polite. Guess it is more luck of the draw with the CSR you get. However, they did give me a $20 GC a few weeks ago after missing out on a rebate for some software I ordered. But I will only order DVDs from them in the future if they have the cheapest price.

I called earlier today and got a VERY nice CSR who (after a little discussion) agreed to give me the sale price on one of the sets and also upgraded my shipping to Standard. Wound up paying ~$180 for all 9 sets (including a $10 GC I had from U30 Group) which meets my criteria for a bargain on sets. Not as good as the $130 from before, but still an excellent deal.

I'm usually really good at getting "deals" out of CSR's but....

All I could get for the Cheers misprice was a $10 off coupon code.

Well, I guess it's still something for nothing.

I called up and managed to get the Fraiser and Cheers sets for $130. All depends on your luck I guess.

I wonder if it would pay off if I tried again?

I no longer have my order number. Would Amazon still have a record of my order, or would they have deleted that info when they canceled those orders?

They will probably have it on record even though it was deleted from your order history. When I called about my missing order they had all the information regarding the order available to them in their records. However not having a copy may be a slight problem since they generally ask you the order number when you call or email customer service.

I would be curious what strategies folks are using to get freebies from CSRs. I spoke to a CSR and a manager last night, and neither had the slightest bit of sympathy that my order was cancelled. I even played the "loyal Amazon customer" card and threatened to take my business elsewhere. They wouldn't even consider selling it to me for a cent less than what is currently listed on the site.

I called Amazon customer service and told them I was very disappointed that my Frasier box sets were cancelled and asked if there was anything that could be done. They sent me a $10 promotional gc for my trouble. I'm happy.

I called up the number (thanks lasermovies) and asked about the Cheers DVD set. She told me that it was the DVD manufacturer error and NOT an amazon.com error and said I would not be allowed to get it for the mistake price (I wasn't mean to her or expecting to get it, but some people on the forums were getting it for the price.) I also hinted that I was extremely disappointed and amazon purchases may not happen again, but I got nothing. It was worth a shot and I still might shop their again -- I never expect something for nothing.

After I cancelled my order, I wasn't going to do anything - but after reading this thread, I figured I had nothing to lose.

So I called and the CSR that I spoke to was coincidentally the same one that I spoke to 3 days ago about an address change (I'm moving in a few weeks). I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

After some coaxing on the phone ("is there anything that Amazon can do because of this?!"), they are going to send me a $10 Promotional Certificate, which seems to be what people around here are getting for their "trouble".

Just like UninTY said - it's something for nothing!
