Not sure why the above links were posted. Those titles have already been reported as part of this sale, and can be accessed through the one comprehensive link to all the sale titles here, which also includes the DVDTalk referral link:

I was just wondering if those who ordered the x-files and got them rather quickly, I think, used the free shipping option. I ordered mine around 1 a.m. this morning and it is showing:

Shipment #1: Not Yet Shipped

Shipping estimate: January 11, 2005 - January 12, 2005
Delivery estimate: January 14, 2005 - January 21, 2005

Just curious as to what to expect. Thanks

metalfan, I used the free shipping option and it shipped out about 3 days after I placed the order. You'll find Amazon's "estimates" are conservative, and it usually ships out quite a bit earlier than listed.

I ordered: X-files season 1, Sex and the city S6 #2 and Twilight Zone S1 (80's), all with STL. Order total was $104.82, so I went ahead and paid for shipping ($4.96) since I wanted these quickly.

The order shipped on December 29 by Airborne Home. Usually my orders from Amazon arrive in 2-3 days. This one still hadn't arrived as of yesterday (1 week) and all the tracking information showed was:

Dec 29, 2004 04:16:34 PM Fernley NV USA SHIPPED

I checked again this morning and got this update:

Jan 06, 2005 02:27:00 AM WILMINGTON OH PROCESSED AT SORT FACILITY.

It took 8 days from shipping to arrive at the sort facility? Today is the last day in Amazon's "delivery estimate" range, and it's still nowhere near getting to me. Normally I would be a little more patient, but since I paid for shipping on this order it's starting to piss me off.

Anyone think Amazon would give me a refund or credit for the shipping charge if I call and complain about this?

Roy

If it doesn't arrive today, then you probably have a good shot at getting a refund for shipping.

From an email I received after an xmas package debacle and plenty of threats/bitching from me:

"Because of the circumstances surrounding this order, I have made a
one-time exception to our standard policy and have requested a
refund of all the shipping charges that would have been associated
with this package. This refund of $4.98 should be processed within
the next 2-3 business days. We will send you an e-mail to confirm
the amount once the refund has been completed."

I also got a $5 gc to boot. But i had ordered two books two weeks before xmas that said "ships within 24 hours" each and every day in between the order and the 25th and it took 7 and 10 days respectively to ship each of them...with the second not arriving until the 27th. assholes. They, of course, blamed it on the weather delaying the mail in the days before xmas, but could not explain why in the hell it took ten days to ship it in the first place.

The order finally arrived on the 7th, 1 day past Amazon's shipping estimate - a total of 10 days from the time it shipped to arrival (to be fair, their was a holiday in there). During that time, I placed another order, this one with free shipping, and it arrived in 3 days.

For $4.96 shipping cost and a (possible) $5 GC, it's probably not worth pursuing. It still kind of irks me though that I paid extra for shipping and it took so long.

Roy

That's the last time I order DVD sets from Amazon. I got my Dark Angel S1, Futurama Vol 1, and Son of the Beach Vol 1 today.

My Dark Angel case looks almost as bad as some of the sets you'd see in USED bins (creased, dented corners, worn). Disk 1 was loose rattling around inside and is scratched up a bit. The rest of the disks were in place, but for some reason some of them were still scratched a little. I don't think they'll be bad enough to not play, but still, it should be a little nicer than this. But then. for $15 I can't complain too much.

The outer Futurama box was creased a bit, the Son of the Beach box was fine.
