Damn trolls ...

Anyway, with a price like that on SotD, I think I'm going to hold off for another month and pick up the two-pack with Dawn of the Dead for a scant $5 more.

So many $9.99 DVDs, though ...

I agree. I'm happy I held off on buying DotD because that two pack is sounding good after seeing these opening prices for Shaun.

I was gonna pick up SotD, but at that price, I'm just gonna order the R2 for cheaper and get the extra two commentaries.

It's just Shaun of the Dead packaged together with Dawn of the Dead Unrated. I think retail price will be $26.95 so you should be able to get this for $20 or less at most retailers.

Is there something with movies by Focus Features never being on sale the first week? I remember both Lost In Translation and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind being mininmum $19.99 as well. Unfortunately I already have DOTD UR, so I'll just have to deal with the price (but I do have a Madden coupon!). Nice Manchurian Candidate price, however.

Unfortunately with Walmart, you never get consistant prices. None of the ones near me were that cheap.

though some people like to say "its only MSRP" that is the reason why some of the prices seem/are higher. Shaun Of The Dead is 33% off opening week, that IS a sale.

I'm sure the MSRP is higher than $19.99, but since places like Best Buy's non-sales prices are below MSRP, that's not really a factor. I really doubt anyone on this forum pays MSRP for anything, sale or no sale. I was just pointing out that I wouldn't be surprised if Shaun of the Dead was $19.99 even after this week's "sale", since that was true of Eternal Sunshine. Perhaps the MSRP on Focus movies is particularly high so Best Buy is even taking a hit selling it at $19.99. I don't know.

Madden 20% off coupon for me on Simpsons S5 for $23.99. It looks like $23.99 is the best I can do, although you never can predict those Wednesday Fry's ads or Costco coupon specials... $24.99 wouldn't surprise me and a few weeks later $19.99. If Amazon did $14.99 season 1 Fox DVD sets this year, I wonder if they'll do season 2 or 3 sets next year for $14.99. Plus Target likes to sell TV sets very cheap (just under $18) after Thanksgiving. So I figure Season 5 will probably be $15-$20 in the next year, but if I can get $23.99 at BBY with the Madden coupon, as Homer said in the time-travel Halloween episode when his family had snake tongues at the breakfast table... "Uh... close enough".

Are we still of the opinion the Madden 20% off coupons are expiring on 12/31/04 instead of March 2005? I guess nobody knows for sure.

Theres an error in the ad regarding Video Games, they are doing a Buy 2 Greatest Hits/Players Choice titles for $30. One of the Games in the ad is Resident Evil 4, which doesn't come out until January. Maybe special ordering it as part of this deal would work?

Will have to order Napoleon Dynamite online as I dont want to get anywhere near a bestbuy this week! I hate that store around Christmas. Good price, though.

I might pick up "The Thing" for $9.99. Maybe "Platoon," too. Nice to have them priced at $9.99 instead of that 2/$20 or 3/$30 crap they usually do.

Neither Best Buy in NYC had any stock of The Thing. I know cuz I went yesterday and there was nothing there. I went today and there was also nothing there.

I talked to a CSR and they told me that they put up a sales tag just in case a Best Buy rep (or maybe it was a Better Business Bureau rep) or something like that passes through the store. If they don't have the sales tags up they get in trouble. She told me that this isn't false advertising cuz that particular Best Buy might not have it but some Best Buy around the country will have it

I was able to score 2 $20+ "greatest hits" today for $30. The ad stated that any Platinum hits, Players choice, and Greatest hits, in store and online for $30. So I decided to put it to the test. I picked up Tom Clancy Trilogy ($40) and Super Smash Bros ($30) I went to the counter, and it rang up $70. I pointed to the ad that it states any game in the store. The cashier, who was really friendly, called the game section. She explains and he says

"The games have to be pictured in the ad" She replies "It says any in store."

"Well it has to be 2 games from the same system" She replies "It doesn't say that in the ad"

"Fine just give it to him."

So its worth a try, for those who want the Clancy Trilogy, for $15. Just push the issue that the ad states any game in store. Good Luck!
