From: Texas! Damn right.
Apparently, you folks are getting mislead by the '12 years' deal.
It's 13 years really, but there were only four actual seasons. As seen in the link provided by Jah-Wren, the series ran for 4 staggered seasons in the '70s. The real confusion comes in when you date the show from '69 to '82. The show had a special in 1969 and one in 1982 (as well as two more in the '70s), which is what probably causes people to believe it ran consecutively for so long.

Thanks for the link, JWR. That certainly answers my original question.

Keep in mind there will be a Fat Albert Greatest Hits Collection out soon which has 20 episodes on 4 DVDs. Price is about $30 on preorder right now at the major e-tailers. The TimeLife set is 8 DVDs in separate keep cases with 3 episodes each so you do get 4 more episodes total but it'll take up a lot more storage space.

Today my credit card was charged the entire amount. Both my Order History page on the website and this email seem to indicate that only Fat Albert was shipped, not the Muppets. What does "Status: New" mean? Did anyone else get this?

Checked the website, they cancelled my order for 2 of the Muppet 10 packs. They never emailed to tell me what the problem was. I emailed them to see what the story is.

Funny... the opposite happened to me. At the time of check-out, my price was $46, but they charged me $51. They're refunding me the difference, but I'd advise everyone to make sure they weren't overcharged.
