Best Buy's Free Gift With the Star Wars Trilogy
I got a look at the gift Best Buy is giving away free with the DVD set. It's a 50 page magazine published by the Star Wars insider. Pages are devoted to all the characters, each of the individual films and the last few pages are for the Star Wars Battlefront game.
Not a bad magazine, but I was hoping for something better

The Beneath the Dome give-away is an online exclusive (you can also order it separately for just $4.99).

No way will it be over $40.
I'm sure someone will loss-leader it to $34.99, like Eckard Drugs did with the Indy set (which meant that my local Walmart also lowered the price to $34.47 or something).
Price-matching abounds!

Well list is $70. I'd be surprised to see this lower than $40. More likely it will be $45-$50 at most of the big stores.
I think Indiana Jones went for 49.99 at Best Buy when it came out, and that lists for $70 as well.
Granted SW is more popular than IJ, but I don't think they'll miss their chance to make as much $ as they can on release day.

The following week? $39.99. Go figure.
Anyway, as I said, I'm sure some left-field place will offer it for $30-35 and we'll all use that ad to price-match wherever we prefer to shop.
I already have an Amazon preorder for $37, so a store would have to beat that soon to get my business.

Wow-the memory starts to go after a while...
I knew it wasn't 39.99. Maybe I was thinking of Target's price.
I still would be shocked to see this set for < $40. I'd be thrilled if it was, since this set is a steal at anything less than $60 IMO.

Well, it's the biggest DVD release EVER.
So it seems likely that stores will use it as a major promotion, i.e. loss-leader.

But then again, most people aren't going to come in to pick this AND something else up, beecause it's more expensive than something like Lion King. The kicker is going to be an average price and a good bonus like the book at Best Buy. Otherwise people will come in, buy the set, and walk out (assuming lines aren't bad)
Me, I got mine for 33.50 from Deep Discount DVD with the abberation 20% off coupon, so I don't care either way!

I'm pretty sure Fry's will have a good price the day of or day after (price good for 1 or 2 days) release just to make all the other stores look bad. They seem to do that alot. Gotta love 'em for that.

I thought I read about them possibly offering the Star Wars Battleground game. Any news of that either way?

There's a fully-playable single level demo (X-Box only though) on the special features disc.
Perhaps that's what you were thinking of.

Costco has always been a good deal for me when it comes to "Box Sets".
Indiana Jones was around $35.00, since I do not have a Best Buy or a Wallmart around me, I will save the gas a pick up Star Wars for about $39.00.
Hope this helps.

that price is as of now, I will bet it goes for $39.99 at BB, easily. If not a dollar or two lower. No way it is staying at $44.99 as it never does until the Sunday of its new flyer, which would be 9.19.
