I got a phone call today from one of the places I preordered the sets from. They stated that I had to come in and pay the 89.99 for each set if i still wanted them.

Oh, and I left one thing off my last post... when the puzzled cashier was trying to figure out how the original person got the price of $29, she said she saw it on the screen under "MSR-something". I asked "MSRP?" She said "Yeah, what's that?" So I told her, and I made a comment in amazement about how high they were selling it compared to that. But it still didn't matter in the long run.
But, if that's the case, why is SCTV marked up so much compared to, say, movies or the like? That's a HUGE increase from MSRP!

Unless I am reading your post wrong, I don't think you know what MSRP is. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is not the price at which the retailer purchases the item. It is the recommended selling price for an item at the consumer level. I believe this number is 166% of the price which the store purchases the item, for DVDs at least.
So the MSRP of SCTV is $90. Blockbuster's misprice is $29. Blockbuster is trying to charge you the correct MSRP. There is no huge markup here.

I went to Best Buy and they were ready to price match with a phone call until the Blockbuster person told them that they are 29.99 for each disc and not the whole volume. If they would have quoted the "right" price from the beginning I would have been able to pick up both volumes today. Thanks to Blockbuster for not knowing what the hell is going on. They can mess up a bargain on both ends.

It has to be a record. I placed my order on the 2nd of February and dropped my 10 dollar deposit. Well lo and behold I received a call today saying they were in. An amazing 7 day turn around may have established some faith in the tiny Blockbuster that is close to my house. I even got them for 29.99 and 23.99 for the sets. Now Im a happy camper with some SCTV sets to boot.

I guess that this Blockbuster chose a different delivery service over Pony Express.

This is the best deal that I've come across here on this forum. I just wish that we could get season 3 for this bargain price, but it is not meant to be.

Damn it!
I was driving by Sat. and decided to drop in and check on it.
The clerk first says, it was never ordered.
"Oh, great, order it again for the 3rd time now," I think.
He tells me to ask the manager to place an order for me. So I wait in line again and talk to the manager. Lo and behold a lightbulb goes off in the dim bulbs head.
"I think that came in a week ago," she says. Searches for awhile and comes back with a copy of it attached to a sales slip.
"Great! I glad I stopped by," I say.
"But there's a problem in the price," she tells me, "I talked to the manager and we can't sell it to you at the price you paid." Then she tells me I can either get a refund or pay more.
I tell her I won't pay more and that that was the price in Oct. how can I help it if the price changed since then. I mean they should have placed the order at the lower price when I ordered in Oct.
So we go back and forth and before long she's giving me attitude, and something came over me. "Wait a sec... what's with the attitude?" I ask. Ofcourse that put her on the defensive and it became personal for her.
I left with nothing that day, but I said I would like to speak to her manager. Her higher up is only there on M-F 12-5. Now I would go in and talk to the next rung of the ladder but the way I figure it, it won't do me any good. No doubt the "manager" I spoke to on Sat. has already preped and made up the mind of the next person in the chain. So going down there would be waste of my time.
So now I'm wondering what can I do? Who can I call that would be willing to listen and do something about it? Any suggestions?

First off, her manager is only there five hours a day five days a week? Probably gets salaried for full time week too! I want that job!
You put your money down and should get it at that price. What is the point in prepaying for it just so they can raise the price on you? I would suggest talking to their district manager.

Saw this on the SCTV usenet group.
"Checked out my local Blockbuster to see if I could pre-order Vol. #3 for the
29.99 price ( got Vol. 1 & 2 for 29.99) and to my utter
surprise..........$17.99 (yes, $17.99) gets you a pre-order for Vol. 3.
So...run don't walk to your local Blockbuster and if they ask "did you drove
or did you flew", just wink in a San Fransisco kind of way."
I'll go to my Blockbuster and see if it's true.
