SCTV Season Two 23.99 at Blockbuster

I visited Blockbuster earlier this evening and inquired about ordering season two from them, especially since I got such a great deal on season one. They looked it up and quoted a 23.99 price for season two, so I promtly put my five dollars down.

As in my thread about season one, you have to at least put five dollars down on the set to get locked in on the price, make sure they fill out an order form, and don't settle for any hassels. And those of you who feel it's wrong or whatever, this is apparently what they want to charge for it, and I asked about season one's price and it's still in at 29.99. This is just a heads up on a great deal.

Does anyone know of a Blockbuster in the Baltimore area that will let me pre-order?

Everytime I drop by one, they turn me down.

I need this set!!

Cool! It took some doing, but I got the original set for the low BBV price a few months ago. Thanks for posting this deal.

I got turned down also - in 3 different locations!

2 of em told me that it was too early to pre-order it, and the other one just told me that you can only pre-order the big (popular) releases - and they probably won't even be getting it in. Huh, wha?

Guess I'll try a few more Blockbuster's this week, and if that doesn't work, I'll wait until mid-Sept (providing the price doesn't go up!)

I never seem to have luck with SCTV and Blockbuster - bah! At least it's still early for #2, so there is still hope!

BrentLumkin, Nabalab (and anybody else experiencing the same problems) just tell them you have a cousin or relative or something like that that told you about the deal and got the previous set pre ordered, and all their local BB had to do was put a phone order in to their distributor. I believe it's Baker and Taylor, but I think I read that they use Ingram when this topic came up in the Voyager Season Two thread. They can special order anything, and if it's in their computer, it's definately in the computer at their distributor. For larger titles, they rely on their corporate offices to order those titles for them, but for the smaller stuff, they have to special order it. If they tell you other wise, they are being either lazy or they just don't understand the resources at their disposal to satisfy their customers. Once it's in their computer, there is no such thing as it being "too early." Too early would be any time before it's listed.

And if a mod could edit the title of this thread to accurately read SCTV Volume Two I would appreciate it. I wrote that pretty late and wasn't thinking.

I went to another (different) Blockbuster during my lunch. They filled out a pre-order form with my name, my phone #, the product, and the item # (they didn't fill out the price).

They wouldn't take any $$$ and they wouldn't give me the carbon copy of the form because they said that I would not be under any obligation to buy it, but they will call me when it comes in.

Oh well, it's a step up....LOL.

Thanks calhoun for the advice!

Stopped by last nite on the way home from work. Was able to preorder and put down a $10 deposit (after I told the sales lady that I had placed deposits on the last two special/pre orders) and as a bonus, I actually received the pink copy of the order form. Thanks Calhoun07!!!

I missed out the first time and paid $48 for the first SCTV set at Digital Eyes (non-cancellable) before finding out about the Blockbuster deal, grrrr....

So this time I went right to BlockBuster today and ordered the second volume. The manager said I could preorder but I would have to pay the full price plus tax of $25.67 and fill out the order form.

Now watch it be $19.99 online after I pick it up this time....

The last time I checked, which was a couple weeks ago, Blockbuster apparently doesn't sell DVDs online anymore. The only SCTV they list are individual volumes for rental.

I meant online at DDD or some other online-only retailer, so it would be the opposite of what happened when I bought the first one.

The same thing happened to me out here on the West Coast. The only difference is the clerk put the price of $23.99 on the order form.

With no carbon copy, I guess they could change the price or throw the order form away and forget about it if they feel we're taking advantage of their too low pricing.

I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed and see what happens when it gets released.
