When does Amazon usually ship their preorders? I was hoping mine would ship by now.

It looks like it'll be $44.99 at Target...no bonuses were pictured.

They always ship my preorders on Monday. I once received a notice shipping notice on a Sunday afternoon, so I don't know what to make of that.

I've been disappointed with Amazon's shipping over the last couple years. Orders arrive in a timely manner, but I rarely receive them before the Fri/Sat AFTER the release date. It doesn't look like they ever ship the orders any earlier than the Mon before the release date. There must be some technical reason why they won't ship them earlier, but they often lose out on business over the B&Ms because of this. I had a couple discounts to bring this order down which is why I went with Amazon this time.

I'm wondering if it's just because they don't want people receiving them before the release date. Since I live in Indiana and most of my Amazon orders ship from Kentucky, I basically receive next day shipping when I use super saver shipping.

CompUSA will just have it for $39.99 out the door with no bonus items. They should also be having Star Wars Battlefront PC, in case anyone is interested, for $49.99

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already but another option is to try Deep Discount DVD's "Guaranteed Lowest Total Price" policy.

I emailed them the details on the Coconuts' deal about a month ago and they offered me the set for just under $35 shipped. They couldn't totally match Coconuts' $30 total since they don't match competitors coupons. (So the 10% Coconuts' discount was not matched.)

But this was a nice price if you'd rather not deal with a rebate. (And you might have to add a few bucks to the Coconuts deal for state sales tax.)

This may be a YMMV type of thing but it doesn't hurt to try.

Same with me. I had a $20 GC plus STL and free shipping brought the total down to $17 and some change.

Yes, mine shipped Tuesday as well.

Alias 3 shipped on the Tuesday prior and arrived a week later on release day from DDD. I'm hoping the same will hold true for SW.

I'm assuming that's the reason, but considering they already "estimate" the delivery date, why can't they ship it that many days earlier? I'm bewildered by what impact receiving any title early has on anything so why can't they make a better effort to get it to me on time?

Oh well, better stop before I get yelled at to take it to the store forum.

For the same reason I can't pick up my pre-order at FYE even though they have cases of them
sitting in their back room, they aren't allowed to. All these retailers probably have to sign an agreement stating they won't break street dates. This is probably done in order to make it fair for all retailers.

If you want to get it on Tuesday, then get it local, otherwise, be happy you (possibly) saved a couple of dollars and hopefully you will get it sometime the same week.

Stores can get in big trouble for breaking release dates.

I had a meeting scheduled for 9/21 and when I saw the conflict, I asked and had the meeting moved back a week to allow for an uninterrupted Star Wars wallow and now it appears Amazon is gonna screw it all up AND prolly lose my STL discount to boot.

Show of hands: Who else will be buying it from Beast Buy on Tuesday and returning the Amazon copy to BB when it arrives.

The 20% off deal from a few months ago.

And just to elaborate on what steebo777 wrote, the DDD 20% Off deal was a bit of a price mistake. The 20% Off codes were somehow leaked early and people were able to use it on pre-orders. When the official 20% Off sale started, DDD excluded pre-order titles like the SW Trilogy. DDD, to their credit, honored the price mistake for many buyers.

But you might be able to get close to the $33 price with DDD's using their "Lowest Total Price Guarantee". That's what I did about a month ago and my total price was just under $35. My set shipped on 9/13.

See my thread a few posts above for more info.

Bob

It doesn't seem to matter to DDD to ship it early so that it arrives about on time, and they're a fairly major online DVD retailer now.

Where ARE the B&M prices this week? Is it safe to say it's not going to be any cheaper than $35?

Agreed. Don't tell Lucas, but I'd pay a lot more than $35 for this set.

For those buying at Fry's note that it's a "Tuesday Only" price and there's a limit of one copy per person.
